We chose to sit in the bar area for our full dinner, because we enjoy watching sports. Our server, Hannah, was delightful. She was attentive without hovering, and very friendly. We ordered the house IPA (really good), the cheese plate (Drunken Goat) and a Wedge salad. Everything was cold and delicious. Next, we ordered the swordfish (a bit overcooked, but the mildly spicy broth was terrific!) and the sirloin steak with scampi topping (again, a bit overcooked, but nothing remotely worth sending back to the kitchen). Potatoes on both dishes were PERFECT, soft with crispy skins. . .yum! The manager stopped by our table twice, just to check and make sure we were happy -- Yes, we were happy. No issues; just a great dinner as you would expect from TAPS!! We'll be back soon.
Delicious food and great server named Kailey. Very attentive and easy to talk to.
Marshal was our server. He is the best!! He is always friendly and very attentive. Delicious food also.
I was there on Monday for lunch, only 1 other table was seated and I waited a full 20 minutes for Brian to finally come to our table, that just started the lunch off on the wrong foot and it continued to go down throughout our visit.
It’s really too bad we had this experience.
It was fun and the food was amazing the drinks also were amazing
Very good meal. Very tasty. All the staff was very friendly and courteous.
As usual the food and service were amazing but we were seated in the Taps Room which had a large party (over 20) and a few of those guests were quite loud and made it a little difficult to hear my date who was seated across from me. Next time I will make sure to request the main dining room which has much better acoustics.
Quality of food was OK. As someone who dines out often, I found the value very poor.
The lobster was delicious, the potatoes were over cooked and don't go well with lobster and the waitress was not attentive at all which made our first experience unpleasant. The free Birthday desert was greatly appreciated.
The only reason I would recommend is for the Lobster (size and delicious flavor)!!
Our first visit after their major renovation. Place looks great and the decor shows it. Food as good as our prior dining experiences. Server, Jaclyn, was the best, attentive but not rushed kept checking to see if we needed anything. Their menu has always had a varied selection of items, expecially seafood. One of our favorite places in North Orange County.
New menu is a good change. Refurbished dining area adds ambiance. I had the pork chop which was delicious. The serving staff at Taps is among the best I've seen. Great group.
Nice restaurant. Great food, though pricy for certain items. Only real complaint is that my party had to wait 20 minutes to be seated despite having made a reservation in advance. Tip: it can get loud on Saturday nights so be sure to speak up when ordering or the server might mishear you.
Friday night out with the husband!
The fish was delicious. The service could have been a bit better.
Two gentlemen, Pablo and Manny are EXCELLENT!!!!
We went for Easter Sunday dinner. Excellent in all areas of food and service...as usual.
We are regulars at Taps and celebrated our anniversary last week with a delicious dinner. Taps specializes in fish and as usual our dishes were excellent. We brought a special Pinot and the corkage is very reasonable. We highly recommend this long time Brea establishment for lunch, dinner, happy hour and consistently superior craft brewed beers.
Never disappoints! Friendly greeting when we arrived, table was ready, and service was great
Celebrating a new job
Service was great. Brunch was very good but I was disappointed in their fresh seafood offering, which was minimal. Not even smoked salmon! However, very possible it was there but I did not find. Maybe it was because it was their first brunch after being closed for remodeling.
Went to Taps to celebrate my son's birthday. It was a nice dinner, food was very good, but service was a little uneven; had to wait a little longer than usual for our appetizer and to pay the check. Not an issue really, we were not in a hurry so overall a good experience.
Our server (Jasmine) was simply the best. She made our dining experience so enjoyable.
Everything was great , perfect night , great food,
Brea has a fairly new parking structure right next to Taps which is very handy if you don't want to valet park. We arrived just a bit early and were promptly seated in a newly remodeled section near the bar and patio that the staff was very proud of (This was their re-opening after a couple of weeks closure, so they were all talking about the changes). They have recently added a glass barrier to keep the noise from the bar and the wind/noise from the patio away from diners in that section. It worked well because the only noise we had was from nearby tables. The wait staff was very friendly and service was excellent. I had the diver scallops and my wife had the seared ahi. Both dishes had good portions, good presentation and tasted very good. I think my wife had a slightly better selection with the ahi (She gave me a taste), but it was all good.
We’ve eaten here a number of times for business. The food is usually very good. This time however the lobster tail was tasteless, tough and dry. And $65.
Other dishes were fine
Our server was very understanding - Of course not her fault the lobster was so bad.
The food is always fantastic at this restaurant and the service was very good as well. The only reason that I did not rate the service as outstanding which it normally is was due to the fact that a number of times, I had to remind our waiter that I had ordered or requested things which he forgot to bring until I reminded him again that we had requested or ordered those items before he finally delivered them to us.
Melissa and Manny provided great customer service as always. Food is always consistent and great. Looking forward to Tap's Brea Remodeling and Reopening on March 23rd.
Nice place
We absolutely love this place but today for some reason their service was pretty bad. We were seated right away but waited and waited an no one came to tell us they would help us. A couple was seated next to us, they were helped right away, drinks and bread and we thought we will be next....nothing...another 10 minutes went by and still nothing..we were ready to walk out...finally someone (not sure if she was the manager) came to ask us if we had been help and we told her not at all..right away a different waitress came to help us out and after that everything was great...
We really had a great time to celebrate a birthday.
The food was GREAT, the waiter not so much. He was inattentive an seemed uninterested. We specifically pointed out it was a birthday he stated he'd bring a complimentary dessert and he never did.
The waitresses tending the tables around us were amazing!! The difference was night and day and obvious - we got more attention from the other wait staff, than our waiter.
It damped the overall night experience.
Great service, great food, and the prices were perfect. I've now been twice for a special occasion and it has exceeded my expectations. The food is wonderful!
I've dined at Taps for many years and have brought many people there as well. Typically, the service is very good. Unfortunately, with this dining experience, it was lacking. The waitress was not accommodating at all. If this was my first time dining at Taps, I would not recommend it to others. Other than this past experience, it has always been a favorite restaurant of mine in Brea.
Food was fantastic. We ordered the macadamia nut crusted rockfish, the swordfish, king crab legs and the filet mignon. Everything was perfect! The portions are very large so have an appetite!
The service was great as well. She was knowledgeable on the wine selection and helped suggest items on the menu.
We had two kids in our party and they brought out kid appetizers for them which was perfect to hold them over until their meals came out. Total plus!
Next time I’m in town I will definitely make a stop here again.
Very noises w/ packed people at brunch!
Did not know we made the reservation for brunch only and we cannot order other items from the menu! Nobody and our waiter did not explain anything to us!! It was all in our own to search and explore ourselves.
If we’d know the cost and the brunch only no any order from the menu, we’d not go there! Moreover, it was all full of oily smell in the restaurant and it looks the vent of the restaurant was not working then. The foods are so so nothing special with small and thin oyster at the raw bar, then you have nothing else was worth to try.
No, I will not go back to that restaurant w/ brunch anymore!!
SERVICE: Made a reservation and still waited 30 minutes for our table, with no acknowledgement and no apologies. Our server was nice but sometimes it took a while for her to refill our endless mimosas. Same with clearing dirty plates off our table, took a while. The man at the meat carving station was a little grumpy/not friendly.
FOOD: Nicely presented but nothing was very exciting to me. The roast beef was good, calamari was good (but soggy, as to be expected on a buffet line), brussels sprouts were good. Nothing was particularly memorable or great.
I had a great time with my friends, but probably wouldn’t make it a point to come here again.
My husband and I love this place! It is quite a distance from us but we make the annual trek to Taps for our anniversary. See you next year!!
We enjoyed our time at Taps. Good beer and ceviche.
They have a good selection of seafood and steaks. The sourdough bread is great But you do have to ask for it. My husband and I split the surf and turf with our own appetizer, the steak could have been bigger but the 18 oz lobster trail was the biggest I've ever seen. The service was great!
Great food! I had the filet mignon. It was nice and thick and cooked perfectly. I like that the dinner comes with a veggie and potatoes. Another in my party had the "surf and turf" and the lobster was HUGE! Only complaint is minor. The waitress dropped off the check and then disappeared for what seemed an eternity. We had to flag her down from across the restaurant. She should have checked on us to see if we were ready to pay...we were!
