We’ve eaten here a number of times for business. The food is usually very good. This time however the lobster tail was tasteless, tough and dry. And $65.
Other dishes were fine
Our server was very understanding - Of course not her fault the lobster was so bad.
The food is always fantastic at this restaurant and the service was very good as well. The only reason that I did not rate the service as outstanding which it normally is was due to the fact that a number of times, I had to remind our waiter that I had ordered or requested things which he forgot to bring until I reminded him again that we had requested or ordered those items before he finally delivered them to us.
Melissa and Manny provided great customer service as always. Food is always consistent and great. Looking forward to Tap's Brea Remodeling and Reopening on March 23rd.
We absolutely love this place but today for some reason their service was pretty bad. We were seated right away but waited and waited an no one came to tell us they would help us. A couple was seated next to us, they were helped right away, drinks and bread and we thought we will be next....nothing...another 10 minutes went by and still nothing..we were ready to walk out...finally someone (not sure if she was the manager) came to ask us if we had been help and we told her not at all..right away a different waitress came to help us out and after that everything was great...
We really had a great time to celebrate a birthday.
The food was GREAT, the waiter not so much. He was inattentive an seemed uninterested. We specifically pointed out it was a birthday he stated he'd bring a complimentary dessert and he never did.
The waitresses tending the tables around us were amazing!! The difference was night and day and obvious - we got more attention from the other wait staff, than our waiter.
It damped the overall night experience.
Great service, great food, and the prices were perfect. I've now been twice for a special occasion and it has exceeded my expectations. The food is wonderful!
I've dined at Taps for many years and have brought many people there as well. Typically, the service is very good. Unfortunately, with this dining experience, it was lacking. The waitress was not accommodating at all. If this was my first time dining at Taps, I would not recommend it to others. Other than this past experience, it has always been a favorite restaurant of mine in Brea.
Food was fantastic. We ordered the macadamia nut crusted rockfish, the swordfish, king crab legs and the filet mignon. Everything was perfect! The portions are very large so have an appetite!
The service was great as well. She was knowledgeable on the wine selection and helped suggest items on the menu.
We had two kids in our party and they brought out kid appetizers for them which was perfect to hold them over until their meals came out. Total plus!
Next time I’m in town I will definitely make a stop here again.
Very noises w/ packed people at brunch!
Did not know we made the reservation for brunch only and we cannot order other items from the menu! Nobody and our waiter did not explain anything to us!! It was all in our own to search and explore ourselves.
If we’d know the cost and the brunch only no any order from the menu, we’d not go there! Moreover, it was all full of oily smell in the restaurant and it looks the vent of the restaurant was not working then. The foods are so so nothing special with small and thin oyster at the raw bar, then you have nothing else was worth to try.
No, I will not go back to that restaurant w/ brunch anymore!!
SERVICE: Made a reservation and still waited 30 minutes for our table, with no acknowledgement and no apologies. Our server was nice but sometimes it took a while for her to refill our endless mimosas. Same with clearing dirty plates off our table, took a while. The man at the meat carving station was a little grumpy/not friendly.
FOOD: Nicely presented but nothing was very exciting to me. The roast beef was good, calamari was good (but soggy, as to be expected on a buffet line), brussels sprouts were good. Nothing was particularly memorable or great.
I had a great time with my friends, but probably wouldn’t make it a point to come here again.
My husband and I love this place! It is quite a distance from us but we make the annual trek to Taps for our anniversary. See you next year!!
We enjoyed our time at Taps. Good beer and ceviche.
They have a good selection of seafood and steaks. The sourdough bread is great But you do have to ask for it. My husband and I split the surf and turf with our own appetizer, the steak could have been bigger but the 18 oz lobster trail was the biggest I've ever seen. The service was great!
Great food! I had the filet mignon. It was nice and thick and cooked perfectly. I like that the dinner comes with a veggie and potatoes. Another in my party had the "surf and turf" and the lobster was HUGE! Only complaint is minor. The waitress dropped off the check and then disappeared for what seemed an eternity. We had to flag her down from across the restaurant. She should have checked on us to see if we were ready to pay...we were!
The restaurant experiaence was absolutely marvelous. The food was fabulous and the waiter and hostess and all the personnel that waited on our table was wonderful. The waiter we had was serving all of the tables and he did a fabulous job keeping his cool. The whole crew worked well together attending to our needs. Great personalities, professional, and classy! 3 of us ordered the sampler and 1 of us ordered steak! The price was extremely reasonable for the service and the quality of the food. I will be back soon!
Both food and service were not quite as good as they have been during most of our prior visits.
Drinks are SO overpriced and they don't put anything in them.
Had chicken, and it was so dry, I couldn't eat it and had to send it back.
May be ok for fish, but if you're not a fish eater, would suggest other better nearby options.
We hadn’t been to brunch in a few months. The food selection and service were a big disappointment. With so many other great brunch spots we probably won’t be going back to Taps.
great food and service, place never fails. went for work anniversary took some first timers with us. they loved it
Taps continues to raise the bar for Seafood menu and prices also. Shocked when I got check and specialty dish was $68.99....Yikes!
They are quite good at what they do and waiter, Joe was excellent and personal as well as personal..
Great experience.... Friendly staff.... Good food.... The drink were outstanding
Our waitress did not give us information about the prix fixed menu. We discovered it after our meal was over. It cost us an additional $50 and we ordered the very same entree, soup and dessert. Not awesome customer service by far.
Should have a full menu on Valentine’s Day I didn’t have a choice of food that I liked didn’t know or I would not have made reservations their server was a great but not the choice of foods very disappointed and very expensive
Love to have lunch there. Nice menu, cozy booth and outstanding service!
Over all every good , had muti of waiters , all every nice
Great experience and food overall!
Romantic atmosphere, food is alright. Price is a bit high.
Had an amazing time loved their quad ipa beer and their Bloody Sunday Bloody Mary real good.
Over I liked it the only problem was ther service she the waitress was super nice and great but the time it took her to actually acknowledge us was bad two hour dinner that’s all I got to say
First time at Sunday brunch there. Hot Food was dried out and cold (nasty home style potatoes, the syrup for pancakes was a mess). The taste was bland. The only things good were the stir fry - made to order and was hot, eggs and bananas foster we ordered from the kitchen and the coffee. Love Lavaza coffee. Oh and it’s so awe full to have to peel and clean your own shrimp at a buffet. I bet there are more wasted than you realize. We thought we could do it but.... ended up wasting 5 or 10 shrimp because of the hassel. It was a total waste of money and I won’t be back.
I have been here before but it was a first for Sunday Brunch. I was disappointed with the food and service. There were lines for the buffets and they ran out of food and were delayed in refilling the servers.
We were celebrating birthdays for the price of the brunch, compared to the food it was not worth it. I really enjoy this place for lunch and/or dinner; but don’t think I’ll make it point to come back for the brunch.
I’ve been to taps Brea at least 20 times and normally very impressed... we went last Saturday and it definitely did not live up to their normal standards. The fish and chips were soggy, the rockfish was mealy, just seemed very rushed due to the fact they were busy...disappointing.
The food was really good and different from our normal night out. Everything we had, from appetizer to dessert was really tasty. Our server was not very good. We had to constantly ask for things as she did not check on us very often. It took 20 minutes to get a drink from the bar. This was not a bar issue as we could see our drinks sitting there waiting for her to pick them up. The “bus boy” was very attentive. He filled our water glasses on a regular basis and he asked if we wanted bread, not our waitress.
Wonderful Service, Great drink selection great fish and food selection. Fantastic Ambiance and food presentation. Highly recommended
Joe our server was fabulous! Food is always great
Great spot for a date night! I had the filet sliders! So good! Wife had the squash pizza. The charcuterie sampler was a bit disappointing though (a little small), but taste was good as usual.
Everything was absolutely perfect except the jambalaya. Didn’t turn out that great, but somehow that still didn’t disappoint from the whole experience. It was wonderful!
Had a great dinner. Will visit again soon
We went here for my mother in law's birthday. We have been here in the past for our anniversaries and whatnot's. As always the food was fantastic and the service was phenomenal. Can't wait to go back again.
