Taphouse Grille Ratings and Reviews
To be fair, it was New Year’s Eve. Noisy drunks and unruly children. We only wanted a bite after an afternoon movie but when we arrived the regular menu was replaced by a Prix Fixe. $55 per person. This restaurant does not merit $55 per person, regardless of 4 courses. The first - endive salad (4 sprigs) or mushroom soup (puréed) were bland. The second, scallops, were gritty. And small. The third, well they forgot the third and proceeded to serve the fourth, dessert, when we reminded them that we hadn’t had our steaks. When they were delivered - sliced, no doubt to save cost to the restaurant- they were cool and full of gristle. Two of us ordered from the bar menu but the burger, ordered well, was raw (unsafe) and the fish in the fish & chips was burnt. Horrible dinner. The only redeeming feature was that the owner knew it, apologized, and took 25% off the bill. But we won’t be back and either will the friends who were with us as I’d told them it was a great place and was sadly proven wrong.
My experience was disappointing. First, the noise level is extremely loud. Part of the ceiling and walls are brick and the noise bounces all around. You had to speak in a loud voice to be heard at the same table. The decor is very nice but just too large and open to limit the noise level. The appetizers were very good. Chicken wings were spicy and well done. Entrees were not as good. Hamburger was small and on an over sized doughy bun. French fries were over done and tasteless. The onion rings were greasy and very heavy. Pork was ok but bland. It took a while to get the car from the parking attendants. The lot is small and there is limited space to maneuver. The guys were working hard but the lot is tough to manage. I obviously had a poorer experience than most dinners. The place was very busy, so my experience may be the exception.
We decided to go back after a bad experience two years ago and give it another chance. I saw scotch egg on the menu and always wanted to try one for years. I was very disappointed to find a cut open hard boiled egg when every time I've seen it on tv, it's suppose to be a runny yolk when it is cut into.
My wife's crap cake sandwich smelt fishy. My burger was good. No reason to go back.
My grown children took me out for Mothers Day dinner early and they asked me to choose the place. I went on Open table searching for restaurants by my daughter and son in law and this restaurant was one of the choices.
The food was very good as was the service. I would definitely go back.
Been a long time customer but have not been in a while and I have to say, it is gotten much better. It has always been my go to for a good burger and a beer but now the menu is so much more diverse and the food was amazing! We were extremely impressed with the changes. Service was on point with our server being friendly and knowledgeable about all the new items. We are definitely putting Taphouse in our rotation more frequently!
Excellent as always... our go to for great food! Go on average once to twice a week. Friendly staff, bartenders and management. Always making certain you're enjoying your experience. Also excited that brunch has started up again. The food and bevs they are showcasing are stellar.
not as great as past experiences, but still enjoyable. They appeared to be short staffed so service was a bit spotty. Our server was overly attentive when we got there, even coming back to the table with tastes of different beers she thought we'd like. After she took our order, however, she disappeared until giving us the check. Nachos were yummy as always, as was beet salad and crab cake sandwich. My husband said his rib-eye sandwich was not as good as before.
I really enjoyed the salmon entrée on the regular menu. There was also a salmon special for that night and I appreciated the candor of our server when I told her I was between the two salmon dishes and she recommended one over the other. Her honesty was greatly appreciated
