Tapastre Ratings and Reviews
I haven't been here in awhile and it was such a treat. We came on a Thursday evening (tail end of HH) and it was not too loud and pleasant. The service was top notch and the cocktails, beer and food were all consistently good (their simple side salad is excellent!)
Really enjoyed the unique drinks and the tapas. Seafood tapas were particularly tasty! Outdoor dining on a nice afternoon was great! The waiter Mike, was attentive, but not intrusive. It is a great find one block off of Somerville's bustling Main Street. Great craft beer as well. All in all a great experience, and I look forward to going back!
We spent a Friday evening here with another couple and really enjoyed ourselves. We were all impressed with the quality and inventiveness of the tapas. It was cooked to perfection and the service was friendly and attentive. We sat outside on a beautiful night and had a fantastic time - would definitely come again!!
We were 4 people and sat outside on a Friday evening. The street is a little busy, but to be expected. The food service seemed good, however the waitress was slow to retrieve drinks, take orders, etc. Overall, I'd definitely try it again because the food was fantastic.
A true neighborhood gem. Love the ambiance and we love to take out of down guests here for a double date night. Or girls night out. Drink menu is creative and well done. Food is just wonderful and very well done every time. Never had a bad meal here. Will continue to go back and enjoy!
Nice place, good atmosphere. The scallop small plate, and the braised short ribs were excellent, humus was very fresh with oil and garlic on the side to be added to taste. The duck in the duck crapes were very dry and stringy. I would definitely go back, the other small plates were very good and nice sized servings.
Tapas has a varied and interesting menu of small and large plates as well as a top location in downtown Somerville. The ginger shrimp, elvis sandwich, shrimp and chorizo, and duck crepes are by far the best items on the menu. Skip the lettuce wraps, they are bland as well as the bacon slab. For dessert highly recommend that ice cream sundae. Parking is an issue, try the municipal lot behind the restaurant or if you are a Bank of America customer park in their lot after hours.
Very cute place...like a Spanish basement speak easy. Food choices were many and varied and everything was great. The scallops, Crispy ginger shrimp, home made hummus and salmon skewers...each was better than the next. Bartender/server was attentive and friendly. The cocktail menu looked awesome but this was a mid day get together so I kept to wine...but I definitely want to go back in the evening and try some of the unique mixology offerings.
I have been to Tapastre four times now and never had a bad plate. There is an extensive craft beer list for beer enthusiasts. The chicken lettuce wraps were very tasty this go 'round. The bacon deliciousness is what keeps my son going back! We each had a sandwich for dinner so unfortunately no room for dessert. Will be returning in the near future. Service was also very good.
Had dinner with a business associate early on a week night; so it wasn't very crowded or noisy. We were able to have a good meal at a reasonable price. The beer menu is extensive, but being wine drinkers we chose from the handful of reds by the glass (a decent malbec with a healthy pour). We had the jalapeno-raspberry-barbeque steak kabobs, which sounds a little strange but was delicious! The warm apple crisp ala mode dessert was good, but not remarkable. A nice change of pace from a standard menu. Seating is downstairs, under the building; so there's no natural lighting and it has more of a bar feeling to it.
The menu was adequate, which is more than I can say for what actually arrived at the table. Luke warm food(sent back) with a dismal visual presentation on the plate. Below street level dining room which is not conducive for those that wish not feel buried alive. Above ground affiliate was not open yet, which I am told was to offer "true" gastro pub fare. Will stop by again...... to check out the other restaurant.
I really enjoy Tapestre. The food is always great tasting, the portion size is perfect, service is always good and the atmosphere is so welcoming. If you like to try beer, come in for a flight and taste 6. The restaurant is not extremely large so make a reservation and plan to come often.
We met friends at Tapestre because of the diverse menu and convenient location. The parking was difficult. Basement location surprised me. It was fine. But bar and dining room aren't separate so it felt raucous. Lovely but not great for conversation. Food was tasty. Shared eight small plates among two couples. Not quite enough food. Woke up with puffy eyes from the sodium. Had crab cakes- seemed like made from frozen. Ginger shrimp was good- again tons of salt. Don't know if I'd go back. Meh.
The menu at Tapastre keeps improving! We ordered a number of small plates and absolutely loved everything we tried. The wait staff was attentive and efficient, and the food was delivered in a logical order that made for a great dining experience!
If you like craft beers try to go early in the evening if possible. We were there at 8:30 pm and many of the beers I was interested in were already"kicked" (gone). I normally go for happy hour and it's one of the my favorites in the area. Great drinks and small eats. This time we went after dinner and our waiter kind of had a weird reaction towards us since we didn't order food with or drinks.
