Tapas Papa Frita Ratings and Reviews
I went there for Valentine's with my special someone and unfortunately been had nothing eat. We've gone there before and enjoyed the menu but they had a limited menu this night with only two vegetarian options. The waiter seemed annoyed with our questions and the chef would not make any modifications to accommodate us being vegetarian... So we left without eating a single bite. It was not the night I was hoping for.
Fun place, friendly service, great food, friendly employees, nicely decorated, besutiful and central location, easy and free parking, reasonably priced for quality of food and entertainment, great ambiance. No negatives. Chef is from Spain so everything is very authentic. I will be going back and would definately recommend the place.
Overall we had a nice experience, the food, the ambiance and entertainment was great but our service was horrible... It took forever for our server to take our orders, most of the time the he was no where to be found, our food took forever and some of us had food and the other part of our group was waiting....
It’s really a shame because it is a very nice place...
Friendly service, nice location, fire tables provide warmth and ambiance, wide selection of tapas, good place for 2-4 people...gets a bit tricky trying to share the small quantity that’s in each bowl/plate if you’re ordering lots of variety, good bread and garlic cream dip.
We highly recommend this restaurant!! The wine, tapas, and desserts were spectacular! I'm still dreaming about the braised oxtail in a wine-paprika sauce and the bacon wrapped dates stuffed with rosemary queso! Heavenly! We were afforded ample time to dine, converse, and enjoy the entire experience. It felt like a trip to Spain!
We had another great experience here. We sat on the patio which offers a lovely ambiance next to the canal and the vibrant restaurant area. Our only recommendation is to slow down the pace of bringing the tapas. We were not in a hurry and would have preferred a little more leisurely pace. But the food and wine were very good and our server was delightful.
We were celebrating our daughter’s 18th Birthday and it was our first time there. The hostess nor our waiter acknowledged that it was her birthday until he asked if we wanted dessert and I said yes because it was her birthday. Our table of 5 was shoved in a crowded corner and every time someone walked by they brushed up against my chair and hit my purse that was hanging on the side. There were large parties all around us and it was very noisy between that and the music and flamenco dancer.
We had an early dinner. Food was good and so was the service. We stayed for the Sunday entertainment - a Cuban band. The entertainment was excellent. We danced and had a great time. We’re coming back to experience the Flamenco show. Don’t let the Cuban band go, they were really good!!
Sat outside near the fireplace on a warm winter evening. Bustling and busy in all the right ways. Food was very good. Oxtail was fantastic. Luxuriously rich and delicious. Lamb chops were very good. My wife loved the sofrito. We relaxed for several hours enjoying three rounds of tapas and a bottle of wine. Service was great throughout. Finished off the feast with the Catalan Creme. Delicious! Can’t wait to eat here again.
We booked a table near the stage in order to see the performers. Glad we did, as it was busy.
Service a little slow to get going, but expected a leisurely dinner Spanish style. Food was awesome. We ate the Chef's dinner, and only wish the wine came with it, not afterwards. Entertainment was great!
A very crowded Saturday night was overwhelming for the service staff. We waited 15 minutes after being seated for a waitress to show up --which happened after we asked the hostess if we had an assigned server. Food was delicious but took almost a half hour to get appetizers. 45 minutes after seating we finally had some food! Paella was tasty but just warm which was strange as it is served in a hot pan. Must have sat for a while before served.
I will try this again but not on a busy night.
We decided to try something new and on Open Tables site. We sat out doors next to a cozy fire pit and they had live Spanish trio performing. Great ambiance. The food and sangria were wonderful and the three of us shared 4 Tapas and the black rice seafood paella which was very flavorful and different from traditional flavor (nutty and Smokey). I would say that it was more pricey than $$, more like $$$; however we will definitely be back.
We went for my hubbys birthday. The tapas we had to start were terrific. Service was good until we ordered our entrees, it took about 45 minutes, had to ask if they forgot us as tables that sat after us were served before us. Having said that, the entrees were really good. Not sure why it took so long to get out meals, it was disappointing since we had company in town. It is a nice place for a special occasion.
Our dinner here was a highlight on a recent trip to Phoenix. I’ve traveled extensively in Spain and can verify that the dishes are authentic and representative of what you would find there. The pisto and the solomillo were delicious. If we lived there we would go back many times to explore more of the menu. The dining room was elegant and the flamenco show was a nice touch.
The food was delicious we enjoyed almost everything we ordered (except the oxtail- big disappointment). The problem with the service is they seem to be understaffed. We waited a very long time to order. Then the dishes came out very sporadically. We didn't get one that we ordered which was ok because we were stuffed. The paella was delicious but a bit pricey for the size and amount of seafood in it. They were nice though and brought a dessert and flute of champagne for my husband's birthday. We will likely return just hope they can work out service issues.
