Tapas On Main
First time here. Food was good but not outstanding. My husband and I had a starter and 3 shared plates. It was more than enough. I would try it again to see if food was consistent. Our waitress was helpful and attentive
Enjoyed both restaurants! Pumpkin soup from Tapas and crepes from Cachette❤️
Having been at Tapas On Main several times, we were very excited to be back. Unfortunately, the whole experience was off. We waited 25 minutes for our server to get our drink order, (restaurant was not busy.) We attempted to order and right off the bat, they were out of 4 popular menu items. Server "disappeared" several times. Bartenders broke 2 glasses, and were carrying on about it with a few patrons at the bar that were highly intoxicated. Very loud, highly unprofessional. Food was off, especially the calamari, very fishy. Server never asked if everything was ok. Not sure we'll be back any time soon. Very unfortunate.
We love Spain and the tapas experience. It was a very busy Sunday night in the Christmas City of Bethlehem in December. Although that is a potential reason for being out of several choice wines and menu items it really isn't a reason at all when its one of the known busiest times of the year. I would suggest to the manager to maybe serve water and bread and olives as soon as people sit down to help with keeping folks happy, especially on a busy night (just like how its done at any tapa joint in Spain). Just a suggestion.
Booked through Open Table for a Sunday evening at 5:30pm, shouldn't be too much of a problem or too busy is what we figured. Family of 4, needing one high chair. Noted reservation accordingly. Arrived and were seated. We reminded the hostess of the need for a high chair. Stood by at the table for 10 minutes before finding a busser to ask for a high chair. He returned a few minutes later. Did not see a server until 5:55, at which time we received water but she was not our server. The kids started getting restless, our server appeared and took the drink order, still no food of any kind was able to be ordered. Drinks and the server appeared at 6:09pm, we were ready to walk out. Mentioned to the server that we'd been sitting for over 40 minutes and needed to get something on order and if the kitchen was backed up we'd have to leave. She said she would push things and bring food as it was ready. We ordered appetizers and dinner. Apps came, the apple manchego empanadas were very tasty but presentation was nil. just cut empanadas on a plate. No sauce of any kind. Garlic shrimp was in a soup crock, 6 medium shrimped drowning in a broth. It was well balanced and tasty but too much broth. Paella del Tierra and Vegetable Paella were the dinner entrees, both were acceptable but not fantastic. The most disappointing was we were half finished with the entrees before the kids shells with butter and cheese showed up. Try explaining that to a 4 year old. Couldn't wait to leave, the service completely ruined the experience.
The food is awesome. The lamb chop small plate was delicious. The Sangria sampler is the best; I have never had better Sangria anywhere.
As usual they were out of many of the items on the menu. This time, nearly 10 items including drinks.
We had a reservation and were seated right away. It then took 10 min before anyone came over to take our drink order. It took 15 min to get our drinks. Our server seemed very stressed out. Her first comment to us was her name and then listed all of the things on the menu that they were out of. I assume they were busy before we came in, but there were lots of empty tables when we got there. The food was not what we expected for the price and the service was poor. I would not go back.
When lunch starts off that you’re waiting for your waitress for 12 minutes, you know it’s not going to be a good experience. And then when you wait 17 minutes for sangria, you know it’s really not going to be a good experience. And then when your waitress checks on you and you don’t have any food (we ordered soup, and 2 appetizers) and tells you that “you just have to be patient“ you know you’ve had your at the point where you’re not having a good time. This is exactly what happened to us. We know this isn’t the norm, but we weren’t pleased to say the least. There was no manager in sight or I definitely so wild have complained at the time. When we were done, we just wanted to leave as quickly as we can. Our lunch made us late for the rest of our plans.
The food and sangria was excellent. The ambiance was great; my wife and I had a table for two in our own little nook in the front window. The location is fantastic as well; you can take a nice stroll down Main Street following your meal.
We always have a good time and enjoy the food and atmosphere at Tapas. I always order the lamb chops, but I only received 2 instead of the typical 3 that they usually serve with an order. Food is always very good.
Always great food and drinks, a bit loud , and the wait , even w reservations, is about 30 mins. Still worth the wait
Had a great meal. Magda was wonderful and very helpful
10 month anniversary and Craig Thatcher. What else could you ask for.
The service for Sunday brunch was horrible. Inattentive, slow, no check back, and no knowledge of the menu. Frittata was extremely dry with no vegetables and very little meat. Crab eggs Benedict had maybe 3 small pieces of crab on each muffin. Ordered chorizo as a side and it was brought out as I was finishing. Overall a poor experience.
Paella was over cooked and mostly rice. Soup was thin. Bar mixed the drinks up.
All of our food selections were very good. Service was great. Tables are a little close together but still was a nice atmosphere.
Great atmosphere and food!
Awesome atmosphere and food. Our waiter Andy was awesome too
Kitchen didn't inform our waitress that one of the meals we ordered was out (no fault of the server). This eventually caused my food to come out ahead of my date's food. Made a request to not have the apple added to a steak flatbread, and it was (again, no fault of the server).
Overall, I would probably try them again. The food, and drinks were good, and out waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Numerically maybe a 5-6/10?
Fantastic time at Tapas!! I love the new cocktails they have for the fall. My boyfriend and I love coming here and splitting tapas. Always the perfect date night!
So nice to have a number of different small plates to share. Lamb chops were perfectly done, and enough bread was served with the hummus to finish eating the dip. The Manchego cheese and apple empanada made a delicious dessert. Also nice to have a server who kept his distance and wasn't constantly hovering over the table asking how everything is. This place is always a consistently good meal.
I would hesitate to recommend Tapas on Main to a friend. The service was quite poor. Although we had a reservation, we had to wait for a table to open up, and the hosts were not apologetic by any means. We also were unable to find our waiter for long periods of time during our meal. When our appetizers were served, we were given no silverware, and it took us 15 minutes (!!!) to track someone down who could help us. We were checked on very few times during the evening, even though we wanted to continue to order drinks and dessert.
Found this place to be hit or miss. This past visit was a miss. Service was very slow. Drinks were slow. They had no Tempranillo, even though 2 kinds were on the menu and it was a Friday evening. Meat and cheese plate was great, as usual; however, it took an hour to come out. A meat and cheese plate took an hour! The rest of the dishes came out right after. Tenderloin tips were good. Pork belly was way overdone- hard/brittle and dry throughout. They brought us a new one that was much better, but still slightly overdone. Beet and arugula salad was fine- nothing special. We did have the nice seat in the window- more private than the rest of the restaurant. I would request that seat again, as it does get loud in there, due to the interior.
Tapas is my favorite restaurant. In fact, we eat often at the four restaurants in Bethlehem that are all owned by the same people (Tapas, Cachette, Urbano, and The Flying Egg). They are all excellent. I will also denote here that tonight’s visit was during Celtic Fest, meaning there was an unusual number of people in the downtown area, so perhaps Tapas was unusually busy.
The disappointment began when our request for a window table (made at the time I made the reservation), could t be honored. Ok. No big deal. We were both starving when we arrived, so when our waitress greeted is at 8:00, we immediately ordered their beef sticks and spinach dip so we would have something to eat while we peruses the rest of the menu. Our waitress did come back from time to time to ask if everything was alright, but never addressed the food we had t received. At 8:25, I replied “Fine. We just need some food.”. She smiled, but didn’t reply. On her next visit, at 8:39, I asked if the food was coming. There were tables seated long after we were who were e joying their dishes already, and busy or not, it’s ridiculous to wait 39 minutes for spinach dip and beef sticks. Her reply this time was that it could still be a while until the food was ready. This was the point at which I calmly said, “I’ll just take my check for the glass of wine and we’ll eat somewhere else”. She said she’d check the kitchen and came back quickly with our beef sticks. What a miracle that, under the threat of leaving, food could be delivered. I still can understand why the flatbread we ordered long after the beef sticks came out next (about ten minutes later), before, finally, the spinach dip came around 9. The beef sticks were over cooked (though not dramatically), and the flatbread had cold spots. If this were my first visit, it would likely have been my last. But being enamored of the place, I’m going to chalk this experience up for the outlier. No manager ever addressed us.
Food was good. Service was really slow. It was a Saturday night with a festival in town but they should have planned for that better. The least they could have done was comped us a drink for the long wait. I’d go again for the food, but on a weeknight.
A little slow service but food was absolutely worth it!
Magda was an excellent waitress! Food was delish, found good value for the money and all dishes were well prepared and delivered on time. A visit is money well spent.
Everything was amazing. We sat outside. Perfect weather. Waitress was awesome. 😁 LOVE TAPAS. 😋
Everything was great. The food was amazing. Sat outside the weather was perfect. Will definitely be coming back.
We loved it!! Thank you!
Delicious and fun. Situated in downtown Historic Bethlehem it is worth the trip. Everything is fresh!
If you want to sit outside, call after you reserve your table. They said that they never knew of was an option. Tables on side street and uncomfortable as to sit on front of the restaurant.
Even though we had a reservation for the dining room we were seated at a small hi top in the bar next to the kitchen door. When we inquired if there were other tables available- we got a flat “no” and the hostess turned and walked away. The food looked and tasted as if it was made days ago and reheated several times before it was served to us. This was our third time eating here. The first two times were excellent. This was extremely disappointing and it will be a long while (if ever) before we go back.
We split the chicken enchiladas which were delicious! I had the beef tips-- wonderful! My friend had the lamb chops and said they were great-- however, they came with a fig sauce and the waitress did not bring it out with the order--by the time she brought it out my friend was almost done with the meat, which was a shame because she said it was also very good.
The dining experience was great as a whole. I was not a fan of the fact that there was no table cloth as the table was just a bare wood piece. Service was very nice, the gentleman that we had was extremely helpful and gave an amazing explanation of the menu. A little pricey but it is a nice place to go if you want to have a night out.
Love the "French" room. Bacon wrapped dates are really good. I noticed we could easily hear one another talk, which is not usually the case at a restaurant. I always appreciate that.
Absolutely loved our server Magda! Great dinner, very nice atmosphere.
First time visiting in a while as I moved away from Bethlehem. Food as good as it has always been, as was the service. The meat Paella was especially good. I had expected to see some new items on the menu, as it’s been 3 years since my last visit, but it seemed very much the same ...not a complaint, just an observation. An enjoyable meal with my family and we will be back.
