Tapas On Main Ratings and Reviews
Had only eaten at Tapas on Main once before, in the summer sitting outside. But only had snacks and drinks on that occasion. Decided to try it for dinner on Sunday because, frankly, it's one of the only downtown restaurants open on Sundays. Wasn't crowded, had a nice comfortable atmosphere, wait staff was very attentive but not overbearing, and all of our plates were delicious. Will definitely be dining here again.
Everyone we talked to recommended Tapas on Main so I expected an outstanding food experience. The cheese & meat options were very good and authentic. There were three soups and all for of us opted for soup as a second course as it was cold and they sounded good. All three were excellent, lemony chicken, creamy cauliflower & hearty bean. Then we added three different tapas: the lamb meatballs were the highlight, very flavorful. But the chicken empanadas were kind of doughy and the leek/portobello fritters were pasty and gummy.
Service was ok, nothing extraordinary and the server didn’t know the beer selections well. I guess for Bethlehem it was a number one restaurant but we enjoyed Johnny’s bagels for authenticity more!
Making a reservation on NYE through open table was great. However, when they call to confirm, they should have told us chef was not taken anymore orders after 10. Our reservation was at 945. We sat at 935. We were there to relax of course, stage out the coursesoon this specia night and enjoy dessert which was unavailable because we didn't order it with our food. So that part wasnt so good. However we did enjoy the food, and the music. Sangria was on pint! Cherry Mint highly recommend! Hopefully they work those couple kinks out and it doesnt happen again on a holiday. All in all 4 stars!
They did not let the server know we were seated so we sat at our table for ten- fifteen minutes before being waited on. We ordered immediately and it took a solid 30 minutes to get a cheese app and then about an another half hour to get our food. The waitress did not check on us much and we had to grab the manager to check on our food. Normally it is not this way but for some reason it was not my best dining experience at Tapas.
This was my second time eating here and was very disappointed on this visit. My first experience was great, so when I decided to book this reservation I was expecting the same. I ordered a guiness they were out of it. I planned on ordering the lamb meatballs because they were so good the last time. Once again the server informed me they were out of those too. Ordered truffle fries - lacking flavor, chicken croquettes- dry, chicken empanadas- no seasoning, the chorizo meatballs were the only thing that was good( they were not the lamb meatballs but good substitute). So the first impression that my guest got with the restaurant was not a good one which I repeatedly apologized for. Maybe third times a charm, maybe just a off day due to the holiday season.
The food here was very tasty. Three tapas shared between the two of us was more than enough food. Definitely a great date spot if you're not looking for quiet and romantic. I would also recommend for a large group of people. They have a large bar that got pretty loud when we were there.
Cozy & Delicious!!! Lighting was absolutely perfect for getting to know my date. Such a romantic vibe- best date ever! Thanks to the service, ambiance and food. I did my research and this was a great call! I nominate Tapas on Main "best first dinner date place to go in the valley"
We ordered a bunch of different tapas to share for the table. The food and sangria were very good. Some tapas were better than others. The paella was very good but a bit salty. our waiter, however, was really not good at all. He disappeared for long periods of time, couldn’t find him anywhere to ask for things and when he did finally show up, he would walk away literally in mid sentence when we tried to get napkins, water, order another drink, etc. I️ will definitely go back for the food and hopefully other servers are better
