Tap Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
TAP offers the best dining in South Surrey. Chef/owner/Somelier Alistair Veen deserves his excellent reputation and awards. On Saturday he helped with my food and beverage choices then followed through with little touches that made my night out sparkle.
Serious foodies know and love this place because it never disappoints. See the menu on-line at their website then expect a few specials. Last Saturday the specials were created with Ling Cod (a local fish) or Waygu Beef from Alberta. I began the evening with a plate of charcuterie. It was exceptional with little touches of French Cuisine and Farm-to-Table ingenuity to set the tone for evening. Think, 'the Best of BC' dining in an elegant, cozy atmosphere.
Did I say that Service is exceptional? Parking is easy and ample. Reserve on-line or call.
After eating there many times, we were very disappointed in the food. The Caesar salad has changed from what it has been. I could only eat part of it. The rack of lamb was not up to it’s usual standard. We were really looking forward to it. 😔. As I said, very disappointed.
First time at Tap. The front room is crowded and doesn't have much ambience. The back room where we were was better. Lighting is not great and has a coldness to it. Wait staff and servers were great, food was great. Overall a good evening with the biggest improvement needed being the lighting and overall ambience.
We arrived on time. Our table was ready and waiting. Our hostess greeted us warmly, showed us to our table and took coats. She told us about the Napa Valley wines promotion which we indulged in..she accepted our pace for visiting, sipping and chatting. The appetizers arrived in a lovely presentation and were well timed. The entrees arrived at just the right time. All dishes were cleared in an unobtrusive manner. The evening was lovely.
If there were any complaints, it would be that the seating is a little tight, and that drives the noise level up, but it was Saturday night and I don’t blame other people to discovering my favourite restaurant. I could also say that the server did stop by maybe a little too often, which interrupted conversation, but I do realize she has to get her job done too.
An awesome night.
Very nice room with open kitchen ,comfortable with great ambiance.
Our lunch was excellent especially enjoyed the lobster Bisque with a pork sandwich. Our server was unattentive and did not live up to the standards of the room. A bit of a disappointment
for such a fine restaurant
This hidden gem was a real delight. The food and ambience were great, but what impressed me the most was the service. The wait and buss staff were exceptional and obviously well-trained. Our waitress was personable, intelligent and a real delight. The bussers were so unobtrusive that when one of them reached around to pick up and refill a water glass, my friend, who hadn't noticed turned to pick up his glass and had no idea what had happened to it.
The owner stopped by the table and made us all laugh with an off-the-cuff remark.
This was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I've ever had.
I don't often write reviews unless something special warrants it and this was most definitely special. I have lived in the area for around 23-years and have just discovered this hidden gem almost on my doorstep. The ambience, service and food were 5-star. I have travelled extensively around the world and visited some of the most notable restaurants and, in my opinion, this venue should have a Michelin 3-Star rating, in other words it offers "exceptional cuisine that is worth a special journey". I would encourage anyone to make the journey to discover Tap, you will not be disappointed. I will most certainly be visiting again.
Our evening at Tap was nothing short of outstanding. Our server was bubbly and personable and delivered amazing service throughout the entire evening. The live band was incredible and added a fun energy to our evening. The food did not disappoint. Every bite of every dish was heavenly and I can honestly say probably one of the best meals I have ever had. My partner and I wanted to go somewhere special and fun for our anniversary and Tap did not disappoint. I cannot wait to go back!
Tap is my favorite "go to" restaurant when meeting friends to celebrate a special occasion or just catch up. I have never been disappointed in the food or the service. It is all far above average. The area is quiet. Parking is easy. Prices are average but food much better and more creative than average. It is a special place!
This meal Ranks in the top Five meals Of my life ! The night I ordered the pork belly and I don't know if I can order anything else!!! Best pork belly I've ever had! Always incredible service, European flair, fave restaurant. Can't wait to make an excuse to come back here soon!
We went out for my husband's birthday dinner. At first we sat inside which was much too cold for our liking so we asked to move outside. My husband ordered the lamb and the meat was not cut properly or prepared well. Rather than individual shanks he was served lumps of three or four hard to cut pieces. The plate looked unimpressive and was drenched in Sauce. He couldn't even finish it. I encouraged him to say something but he didn't want to make a scene as we were with friends. This seems to be the trend with Tap, for every good meal we have a bad meal. Not worth the money tonight. A disappointing birthday dinner.
My husband and I love Tap from the first step into the restaurant to the last one.
The staff is friendly...the chef(s) even welcome guests as they enter and exit....the table arrangements are perfect for couples and groups...love the little ambient f'places...feel cozy even in the hot summer ... nice.
The food selection is varied and appeals to many tastes; familiar and surprises. Menu decisions are tricky for us because there is a variety of dishes that appeal to us .... sharing is promoted but not expected.
The servers are exceptional: efficient and friendly without hovering.
I made a reservation at Tap to take a friend out for lunch to celebrate her birthday. Initially, the service was good and both of us were happy with our choices for lunch. However, we were never offered any more water during our meals, nor did the waitress ever return to ask if we'd like coffee, tea, or dessert. Eventually, I went to the front to pay for our lunch. No explanation was offered as to this oversight, even though I brought it up when I paid. Therefore, I have very mixed feelings about returning there in the future.
With a mix up in our arrival times (our son's delay) the night got off to a crazy start and continued - actually with an agreeable server and many laughs and confusion (ie no lobster left). Meal was great!
One piece of feedback I gave and will repeat is that Open table allowed for booking an outside table whereas I understand your policy is first come first to the patio. I'd recommend making a change to booking info.
Great night and I learned of a new local Gin! - great!
