TAP at MGM Grand Detroit Ratings and Reviews
When this restaurant first opened the staff was well trained and great. Now it is terrible. We were seated quickly and sat for over 10 minutes before any waitstaff stopped at our table despite several walking right past and even looking directly at us. After our meal and we had to again wait for quite a while for our server to get us our check, it was wrong as we were charged for an extra meal which we did not order. As we like to visit the casino and have dinner prior to a sporting event we are strongly considering visiting other venues.
The food was good as always, although one was served incorrectly but was quickly corrected.
This was my first time dining at Taps after watching the commercials and billboards. I am not a gambler so my effort to dine there yielded a two-week reservation through Open Table so I could be sure of the date and time for a birthday dinner.
The service was great and the food was okay. The steak was not as tender as anticipated but the salon was great. However, the biggest issue was the smell from a sewer or toilet problem. One's NOSE is attached to one's TASTE BUDS... so the food was not as delectable as it could have been. Toward the end of the hour, someone finally decided to turn on the air to allow the smell to dissipate so when the bread pudding came it was divine.
One whole. Table didn't get dinner and didn't tell us that they are all backed up and dinner was going to be late. We had hockey tickets. Also we made open table reservations because they people on the phone were not able to work out how to handle a table of 12....
We were seated in a new area in the back of TAPS that was great for a Work Group Gathering. We had 9. There was one other large group seated in the same seating area. It offered much more privacy for conversation that the other more public areas of the restaurant.
My cousin and I attended the Phil Phillips free jam session and it was amazing the seating was great our 1st server was wonderful I'm mad I don't know her name but she had dark brown hair in a ponytail, she was great. We had the high table next to the doors of your banquet area. I will definitely be back and tell everyone I know about you.
We had 6:00 dinner reservations for our family dinner (all adults) the service was okay for this. We left went to gamble a little and came back for drinks and dessert. We waited 25 minutes for drinks. After 40 minutes my mom and dad left without their dessert. The waitress rolled her eyes at us everytime we would ask for something. She was truly horrible. My husband and I go there during the week for lunch often and are very happy with the food and service. Unfortunately this was my brother and parents first and last trip there. They absolutely hated it
We definitely will return; the Portabella Sandwich is wonderful and you must try the fried pickles and Mac & Chesses Sticks. I do not drink, however our server, made sure my non-alcoholic drink was perfect, and I had two. In our group everyone loved the service, was well-timed and friendly. you love sports, oh the large flat screens, this is the place to be. "
The limited options on the buffet was not worth the $20 price. The omelet station was backed up and instead of eggs being poured into the pan syrup was mistakenly poured. Even after that the chef forgot to remake the omelet. The drinks also took a long time.
This is my 3rd time at TAP, and I am still waiting to receive outstanding service! Yes, the food is good, but it is a pub restaurant, we had 12:30 reservations and did not receive our beer for 15 minutes! Restaurant was not overly busy, but it was 3/4 full. Our server, when asked what beers were on TAP looked around like she was distracted and said "Oh you want a beer menu?' We wanted to see what beer was offered...that should be prominent on all tables, or on a chalkboard perhaps. She then suggested we order our food with our drink order. Anyway, food was good, service somewhat lacking.
I have dined ay Tap 4 times. The food is always good but the service gets worse each time I am there. Not sure how they have not managed to get better over time. I enjoy going there but after this last visit, I am not sure I will return. We waited over 5 minutes to see a server, over 10 minutes for drinks and then one was wrong, another 10 minutes to order and then nearly 45 minutes for food and they were not busy at all. Hostess was rude too. We talked to the manager and he was of no help. It's time to hire better servers or put more time into training them.
