good food and nice atmosphere and the parking was $3 after thevalidation
Nothing like we expected. Picture in-theater restaurant.....no so great. But, we were very surprised. Varied menu, great service, great food and the price value relationship was actually very good. The on-site parking and being right at the theater provided for an excellent way to unwind, eat, have some drinks and take the escalator to our pre-reserved seats. No hassles and no rushing. This is now our go-to for movie night!
Last night was the first time I'd ever come to Tanzy and I am very pleased that I did! My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to formally dine without losing the fun of being out on a Friday night and Tanzy was perfect.
The bar was full, but since we were at one of the dining tables, we got to have the fun atmosphere while still enjoying great table service. Our server was very sweet and helpful and the food was delicious. The only reason I would give the food a 4 out of 5 is because the pasta portions were a little bit small, but the quality more than makes up for it. I had the strozzapretti and it was great. Also, we didn't know that there was a movie theater attached, but next time we will definitely be taking advantage of that!
My friend and I came here last night to catch up after not seeing each other for 10 years, so I was very pleased at the ambiance and the excitement but the bar did make the dining tables a little bit loud. Regardless of that very slight drawback (understandable on a Friday night), we had an excellent time! The hostess was very sweet in helping us find the quietest table and our server was a gem! She was very thorough walking us through the menu and suggested the salmon which was amazing. We also started with the lettuce cups, which had glazed cod on them- excellent! Also, don't miss the donut stack. Small donuts with caramel sauce, super delicious!
Overall, great experience. I will definitely be back for more of those lettuce cups!
Service was excellent, drinks were great, Ambience was amazing, but the food was just ok. Too expensive for what you get and portions very small. Go somewhere else for food, but here for a drink.
The decor of the restaurant was very nice. The lounge area with fire pits is also a really cool place to hang out and have a few drinks. The food was good but it didn't knock my socks off, but I would be willing to go back and try other items. I had the short rib and my GF had the filet, both left no crumbs behind. The drinks from the bar were really good. Only mild complaint is that I had to track town my server a few times for refills and the check. It wasn't a particularly busy night either.
We enjoyed a terrific Sunday brunch before seeing a movie. The restaurant was quiet, so we got excellent service. Loved the bottomless mimosas and the chicken and waffles was outstanding!
I'm not sure why it is so difficult to find a great Restaurant in Westwood Village. We had a very disappointing experience at Tanzy. We had dined there before at a private party and the food and service were excellent. We brought our friends, who live in the area, to try it for the first time. Our waiter was very nice, however, he was not competent as a waiter. Although the restaurant was empty on a Saturday night, our service was extremely slow. Our food was not good. The onion soup came out cold and after it was brought back warm, it was pure salt. The Octopus salad was small and not very good. The main courses of fish and pasta were small and not very tasty. Overall it was an unfortunately dining experience.
It was very quiet the Tuesday night we were there. The decor and ambience are nicely done and interesting. It is spacious, so I don't know how loud it would be when it's busy. The food was very good! We enjoyed the short rib, the kale salad was nicely done, the burratta caprese was great. Its location right next door to movie theaters is very handy. We'll be back!
Nice spot...particularly if going to IPic movies - food was all good, but not amazing. I think the portions could be a bit larger - especially the pasta. Service was good - nice, easy going
My family of 5 dined at 7:45PM Christmas Eve with reservations. The restaurant actually called to confirm the day before. We were just one of very few tables occupied for dinner that evening...... I was told on the phone that the menu would be open, as well as, the same price fix option available to us that they were offering on Christmas Day. That was not the case when we ordered. We were only offered the regular dinner menu. We ordered a bottle of wine that they could not locate so they called the manager who responded to us about 30 minutes after we attempted to order. We were offered any selection of our specific wine choice at a matched price to what we wanted. We received our wine about 20 minutes later. I have experienced "fine" dining many times, but the portions of our dinners wouldn't satisfy an infant. Our waitress was very unfamiliar with the menu and was corrected several times by colleagues on what she informed us! All of our meals were less than appetizing, tasty or satisfying. To think, we decided to try Tanzy over The Palm as a last minute decision thinking Tanzy would live up to some of the reviews we had read.
Excellent service, drinks, and drink prices (for this area). The food, however, was very disappointing. We shared 2 appetizers, one salad, and one pasta. Of those, only the salad was properly flavorful and textured. The onion rings were terribly greasy; the octopus didn't really have much flavor; and the pasta was doughy, dense, and not properly cooked (the sauce was good, not great - think Olive Garden).
Service was great, food was delicious, ambiance was unique.
Tanzy is a great restaurant as part of a movie experience. It doesnt quite make it as a stand alone restaurant. Went for Thanksgiving dinner and although they weren' t packed, the kitchen and waiters were overwhelmed. They did offer a free drink but waits between courses were very long Food was OK, not great
The location is lovely. The hostesses as well. Our server was great, but stressed. A lot of effort went into make the venue sparkle, but the inner workings need some work. It seemed, to my untrained eye, that there were not a lot of staff and utter chaos behind the scenes. I don't know how long they have been open, but hope that this is "new venture" jitters and the experience will improve.
We are regulars at Ipic Pasadena, but this was my first visit to Tanzy and Ipic Westwood. The food was great, the service was stellar as well. Hailey at the front of house was so sweet and helpful and accommodating, as was Jake in the theater. I'm ashamed to say I do not remember the name of our server in Tanzy--it kills me to say that because she was so helpful, professional and knowledgeable--and pleasant! I will return, even though it is far from home--and I will recommend others go as well. LOVED IT!
The service was absolutely awful. We sat down at our table, and it took 10 minutes for our waitress to come greet us, accompanied by a trainee. She asked us what time our movie was so that "she could make sure everything would be right on time". She might as well not have bothered asking, as we felt pretty much abandoned most of the night. Our food arrived 15 minutes before the movie was due to start, and we had been sitting at our table for a full hour. We had to wolf down our food and had to physically get up to find our waitress so that we could pay. Totally unacceptable.
Shame, because the food was actually great. The staffing here is the problem, and it should seriously be fixed.
Great food & service. Only negative is that it was too noisy from piped in music to visit with fellow diners easily
Other than music way too loud, the restaurant is perfect for an evening out in Westwood. They were accommodating for a party of 7 and the service was good. Nice menu with something for everyone. Can park in iPic lot or in Westwood on the street. Nice decor also. But! People like to be able to hear their dinner guests, I would think. What's the point of music blaring so people are hoarse when they get home??
I always enjoy iPic theater. Awesome concept.
I liked the food, though on the octopus app you get about 50% of the seafood you'd get at a similiar restaurant. Fish should have been a larger portion size, say, increase what looked like a 6 oz portion to an 8 oz if ey wish to charge so much. Somwhere they decided that because they were attached to an entertainmnet center they should charge more/ Now, I liked the meal, it had a good taste, and I would go again...I am worried that the place will suffer from a first time customer running away at the ~20% overage in price when compared to a similar establishment in W.L.A.
Nice but slow for a Saturday night, very pricey , salmon was very good
We are vegans and asked the chef to prepare a plate of side dishes for us. We were informed he was too busy. Needless to say we will not be going back
bad service- bread finally came after the meal, out of items, inexperienced staff, overpriced and seemingly taking advantage of moviegoers. The same goes for the food served in the theatre-poor-overcooked- obverpriced, bland.
Very stylish and attractive decor and ambiance, complimented by exceptionally talented service and a very creative menu. We shared an Octopus Salad, Pappardelle w/ Jidori Chicken and Sautéed Brussels Spouts w/ Pancetta. All terrific.
Great food and incredible service. Got us in and out in time for our movie. Our waiter could not have been nicer!
Awesome experience, but I am more of a guy who can eat. When I saw just a portion of food, guessing maybe it's around 16-24 oz portion, I was thinking to myself "that's it?". Other than that it was an awesome experience !
Loved that I could bring my puppy outside. The service was impeccable but, the oysters were not.
Had an amazing dining experience at Tanzy! Everything from the service to the food exceeded all of my expectations!
Although the drive was long, it was worth it.
The restaurant is beautiful and trendy looking, yet casual attire fits in perfect.
We did not come for a movie, we came in just for the restaurant. Our waitress (hate that word), shannon was wonderful, cute and 100% interested in our service. She was tending a few tables, but her assistants were on top of things. Different staff cleared out plates, filled our drinks, replaced our napkins and just stopped by to make sure everything was good. Excellent.
There are TVs on the bar which are clear to view from anywhere in the restaurant.
Now the food. Perfect!!! The serving size was perfect and the flavors were wonderful. Brussel Sprouts were so delicious and perfectly seasoned. My Jidori chicken was so juicy and flavorful. My husband had the Orecchiette (sausage with wilted swiss chard), not something I would order but boy was it good.
Definitely worth a trip out again.
In my party of 4, two people really enjoyed their meals and the other two did not like their meals. We all agreed that the donut dessert was great!
a little theme bar with Dj making noises are perfect for Friday night date with my hubby. We ordered the beef carpaccio, taste so GREAAAAAAAT! a perfect lounge bar to kill some time before our movie get started.
We dined early on a Sunday evening (5PM) after visiting the Hammer Museum so we expected Tanzy would be quiet even though it is mainly a bar where you would generally assume quite a lot of noise. The food and service were all good. What was totally unexpected and definitely NOT to our liking was that near the end of our meal a birthday party for a 10 YEAR OLD BOY with about a dozen or so boisterous guests took over the bar/lounge seating!! WHAT?!?! Who holds a 10 year old's birthday in a bar?? Only in LA!! Tanzy is connected to the iPic Movie theater so at first we thought the party was just regrouping while they waited to go to the movies but no, it was a scheduled event at Tanzy. Normally I am not fazed by loud kids in a restaurant but this just seemed so inappropriate on so many levels. Wow.
We had a delicious pre-theater dinner on our anniversary. We felt welcomed and were treated very well by all staff throughout our meal. Our server was incredibly friendly and helped us choose a great combo from the menu. We had the black and blue burger (cooked just as ordered) and the amazing onion rings topped with Gruyere with onion "soup" dip. Killer!
This was followed by the chocolate peanut butter bar dessert. We would come back just for that! We'll definitely keep Tanzy as a go to place in Westwood.
Who would think that you would find such a strikingly decorated, epicurean establishment in a movie theater? A large, inviting bar and comfortably placed seating is pared with good service and excellent menu options. Top all this off with a small but beckoning outdoor area with multiple fire pits that add a touch of romance. I definitely recommend this delightful place and remember, you can catch a movie while your here too.
The restaurant is inviting - an expensive built-out, comfortable tables, chairs, great looking bar. Out of 3 items I ordered, I only enjoyed one - the Cauliflower. My Arugula and Endive salad was filled with fennel which, combined with the arugula and radicchio made it very bitter. The Brussels Sprouts were dry and also bitter tasting.
Our server was warm and friendly as was the hostess. A female bartender was warm but was unaware who Sherry Yard was. Odd since Sherry is the Chef with the name and, I would think, her involvement would be something that everyone should know.
While the price-points are not high for the style of the restaurant and quality of food, there is an over-all disconnect given the price of the movie tickets, availability of food in the theaters and a restaurant. Tansy cannot be a stand alone destination restaurant and it is too expensive for movie-goers who have already paid a hefty price for a movie -with or without service. Sure, you're in a wealthy area but one filled with many, many options for both film , food and entertainment. To be so quiet on a Saturday night should be a major red flag.
Food VERY salty. I love Tanzy. The service is great and so is the food! The ambiance is amazing. The veggies are fresh and delicious but DOUSED with butter and salt. The green beans were bather in butter. Gross. So are the lovely mushrooms. They ruined beautiful veggies with copious amounts of butter! Please lose so much butter and salt. it ruins beautiful veggies!
I was thrilled that I came across a new Open Table restaurant in Westwood. We go to The Geffen quite often and always looking for new restaurants. Beautiful decor. The bar looked beautiful but at 5:00 pm on a Sunday evening-the restaurant was quiet. I'm sure on a Friday or Saturday night it would be busy. Menu had a great variety and we were quite pleased with the overall
Food was all excellent. The option for a small vs full size portion is appreciated. Prices are higher than prefered for a causual evening. Prices are more appropriate for a special ocassion.
I have been to Tanzy for Happy Hour and for lunch and have been very impressed. We had dinner there - 7 of us and 4 hated their plate.
