Had a fantastic meal of beef pot roast and flourless chocolate torte (both gluten free, yay!) I was very excited to try Tansey's. My fiance and I had planned a romantic getaway weekend in Alma and this restaurant was top-rated in the area. Tansey's had a cute, quaint, cafe feel. The food was EXCELLENT. We made a reservation ahead of time, not sure if that is necessary or not depending on when their busy times are, they don't have a ton of seating. The owner, Jennifer was great. I had questions about gluten free dining the day before going and sent her an email to the address that was on their webpage, and she answered within 5 minutes! Cannot stress how awesome the freshness of the ingredients were. The helping of pot roast was HUGE and delicious. The flourless chocolate torte was the best I have ever had! DEFINITELY recommend this local hidden gem!
Jennifer and Steve are great hosts. The Grandma's Pot Roast reminded me of pot roast when I was a child. The strawberry shortcake was made with fresh-picked berries and served without additional sugar. Great food and hospitality. I will come back again.
The food was fantastic, Jennifer was a wonderful hostess, waitperson and an excellent part of a three part harmony. It so happened that two to her friends came in to eat and the three of them harmonized a song for our anniversary. It was wonderful. If you are in the Alma area make sure that you make it a point to stop and eat at Tansy's.
Food was good and locally grown. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Just a really cute little place.
Our experience at Tansy's on Main for New Year's was extraordinary. Charming atmosphere-small cosy, and nicely decorated which created a charming and festive atmosphere. The meal was excellent- our party had both entrees- Beef Wellington and Linguine Oysters Rockefeller. My order of beef was rare as ordered and the pastry flaky, beef very flavorful. Salad and deserts were great also. Service very good. the price was reasonable also. Anyone who missed this missed a great meal and time for a very reasonable price.
I just hope they continue with the wonderful food and atmosphere.
The interesting on-line menu got us to try Tansy's On Main, but the food didn't live up to our expectations. The salads were good with the house dressing. The rib eye was tough with lots of fat and gristle and the smashed potatoes served alongside it were plaster-like in their consistency. The home made pasta was good, but the sauce was thin and without much flavor and at $25, I thought it was a bit overpriced. I'll be checking this one off my list.
This is a must-visit. The quality and presentation of the food was outstanding, and it was absolutely delicious. It was difficult to choose what to order because I wanted to try everything. Staff was very friendly. I wish there were more places like this in small-town Wisconsin. We will definitely be stopping here again next time we are in the area.
We were attending the Big River Radio Show and were looking for a place to dine before the show. My husband had the Blackened Tilapia which he raved about. I had the Pot Roast which was almost as good as mine. I am gluten intolerant and was thrilled to find the GF Vegan Carrot cake which was packed with carrots, raisins and nuts held together by cashew frosting. A healthy and yummy dessert. We both had wine and were impressed by the healthy pour in stemless wine glasses no less. We'd happily stop here again if we were in the area just to visit the friendly staff.
The variety of food choices was amazing. Every tasty morsel was a treat to eat, especially because it was local and organic. The chef was very fun and told us what was in everything. It will be great to go back next spring when they open for the season.
This was our first time at Tansy's, and we felt right at home. The menu had great choices for omnivores and vegetarians alike, and not to mention Vegan as well. The owners and staff were personable, which made the experience even better. The only thing I would change was the interior décor, a little too bright and lacking ambiance. But the food and service quickly made up for that. We will eat there again, and tell our friends about it as well!
