Tanoreen varies in it's fusions, but never deviates from its roots; a harmonious blend of classical Middle Eastern home-style cooking. Typically, Middle Eastern cuisine is relegated to dishes of falafel or hummus, but Tanoreen goes above and beyond to take Middle Eastern cuisine to its most traditional and innovative forms.

Tanoreen Ratings and Reviews
A phenomenal venue for Middle eastern cuisine! We have dined here many times and have never been disappointed. The only complaint (and it's a minor one)? When it's crowded (as it often is---it's a deservedly popular place) the noise level is such that is very difficult to carry on a conversation---a situation somewhat mitigated by the fact that one is more often chewing than talking. A great, satisfying, delicious dining experience!
My mother and I came down from Syracuse and Albany respectively for a concert in Manhattan. As Palestinian rights activists, we heard amazing things about Tanoreen and its Palestinian owner/chef and made it a point to visit. We were thrilled we did. It was a quiet saturday- between lunch and dinner hours so the place was fairly empty which means our food came out very quickly. We're vegetarians so we stuck to some veg appetizers - a salad with halloumi cheese (to die for), the cauliflower steak and the butternut squash napolean. All were fresh, innovative and delicious. The Christmas r&b music on repeat was a little too much but Tanoreen is a fantastic spot and we'd love to visit again.
Very good Mediterranean food in generous portions and attractively plated. The small restaurant is attractive and comfortable. The service was polite and attentive.
They boast a full bar but I could not get a Bloody Mary, also the baklava was not up to the standard of the other offerings.
Charming and tasty at an acceptable price.
Excellent food, service, ambience. From Rawia (Chef-Owner) to Jumana (Co-owner) to Ranier ( Manager) to Sarah (Bartender) to waiters, busboys and valet, ALL aim to please. They succeed beautifullly! My children recently made me a birthday party here. It was a "10" for everyone!
Still a total stand-out, worth coming from elsewhere. The ingredients are fresh and, while the tastes and spices are all middle eastern, the recipes are so original. For top quality food (worthy of a special occasion), the prices are reasonable. The space is always full and lively, so things can get noisy on the weekend, but it's part of the atmosphere. Be sure to make a reservation!!
Enjoyed our first visit. My husband and I agree that we would like to try more things on the menu. We both really enjoyed the food and drinks. Service was a little lacking but didn't seriously detract. He was assigned to a large table near the end of our meal--but other wait staff stepped in and go us our check, etc. The woman who greeted us was very gracious and attentive to placing us away from young kids--not an issue for us, but it is a very family friendly restaurant. Dishes perfect for groups. It can get noisy. Overall enjoyable and I think we'll return.
Food seems to have fallen off a touch... very underseasoned on last couple visits. Not that one couldn’t just add salt (though there are no salt shakers at the table, you have to ask) - but the first bites were often very bland. Service still wonderful & great wine list.
Food was fantastic. Table was ready and waiting for us (we had reservations). Waiters were fine. We went at the busiest time, Friday 7:30pm.
But the noise was too much. We could not hear each other, nor the waiter when he came by.
In all, I would recommend this restaurant because the food is so good.
What a great meal we had at Tanoreen. Our group of 8 chose seven or eight appetizers and salads, and one main mixed grill, plus 2 desserts, and had food leftover to take home. Everything was delicious and freshly cooded, and the chef/owner came around twice to stop at our table. If you like middle eastern food, this is a wonderful choice for you - plus - you can leave with the chef's book if you want to continue to eat these delicious dishes at home!
This was our second visit in a month. We wanted to introduce other friends to the restaurant knowing they enjoy Middle Eastern food and creative menus. We each ordered cold and hot appetizers and were very pleased with each dish. Portions are generous so we had some to take home and left fully sated. The service was well paced, relaxed as we wanted for a Saturday brunch where we wanted to chat and have a leisurely meal. We liked the Lebanese wine, a first for us.
I've been to Tanoreen several times in the last two years and it never disappoints. The food is delicious (the portions are huge) and the service is excellent, with a friendly and attentive staff.
The ambiance is lovely, and just quiet enough to actually have a conversation with your table mates without having to shout. Yay!
We travelled 1,5 hours from the Upper West Side of New York by train and bus and back via a Ferry and an Uber to visit this much-lauded Bay Ridge restaurant and had an absolute blast. Interesting menu and clientele, staff and ambience that lived up to our expectations of Middle-Eastern cuisine. Starting with 2 Figtinis, we had the highly unusual "cauliflower steak" for starters, the slow roasted lamb dish, with tabbouleh and beetroot hummus on the side, washed down with a Lebanese red wine. All scrumptious!
I came here with my family for Sunday dinner. Everyone was able to find something they liked on the menu despite having very different taste in food. Our waiters were fantastic! They did a great job taking care of our table the whole evening. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Chefs and waiters were very attentive; as they had 2 servers with us.
We were seated at the bar, and we had Omakase, all pieces were fresh. A few pieces sauce was a bit unique, but worked well with fish.
Prices was fair; expect about $120-$140/person of Omakase. We had 19 pieces each person, great value.
