Made reservations weeks before on open table for a Friday evening. After driving 30 minutes through downpour of rain only for them to decline us because they have a private party. Blamed us-said if we would’ve arrived right at 7:30 we would’ve been seated, but since we were 15 minutes late (due to inclement weather), they sent us packing. If you’re going to have a private party, remove availability from open table. They were not sympathetic or caring at all. As a Lebanese-American, I was disappointed in their lack of service. I wouldn’t go back.
gOOD lEBANESE FOOD, great stuff, friendly environment.
We went there with few of my girlfriends, the food is good but unfortunately it was Valentine day and we had to go with set menu. We’ll go back to try some other dishes, service is very slow.
Service was super slow. Food was decent. Vegetarians have limited options
Just so-so all around. Plate presentation bland, flavors underwhelming, portions heavy-handed without needing to be.
We were greeted and seated by the cook who didn't like being disturbed while on his break. Baklava dry as a bone, probably old.
Will not return. A poor experience at $88 for two people. C'mon, let's try a little harder!
Best Baba Ganoush ever! Previous favorite was at Al Busan in Manhattan, but this one was smokier and even more delicious! We'll be back for more!
Tasty, interesting food. Generous portions. Family run, with very good, friendly service.
Made reservations on open table for New Years only to go in and for them to decline me because they have a private party...if you’re gonna have a private party, at least be courteous and remove it from open table. Also the fact that when I went there and they argued with instead of realizing that they left open table open for reservations. Either way the customer service for those 5 mins was terrible. They were not sympathetic or tried to apologies for the confusion or give proper customer care. I wouldn’t go back. It was hard to find another resturant last minute considering it was New Years.
The quality of service was great; the servers were attentive and friendly; the food was delicious as well
The kafta (the first item in the house special) is really tasty.
The lamb and beef sharma on Dec 10 (Sunday) was really fatty. I don't think it was like that before.
Good for my vegan diet
Delicious and authentic Middle Eastern food with white tablecloths and friendly, efficient service.
Our appetizers came in a timely manner and were good, however, the waiter brought the WRONG dinner for My husband. So I had to eat my dinner (while it was hot) while he waited for the dinner he ordered to be made. I was done by the time his meal arrived. Then the restaurant had the audacity to charge us for that dinner and also mischarged us for a bottle of beer NOT ORDERED. I complained and their resolution was , of course, to take off the beer we never ordered but to charge us HALF PRICE for late dinner. Never experienced a restaurant doing this. It was totally their fault and an unpleasant and long meal.
Great food great people interesting menu optional small plates for people without large appetites good servings for people with large appetites interesting and eclectic
Wish there was a separation between tables instead of a line
Less noisy for all
Great Lebanese restaurant with tasty authentic middle eastern food. Be sure to order the Chef's assortment dish and the red snapper will spicy tahini sauce.
Pleasant service and atmosphere. Lamb kebabs were well prepared. Accompanying vegetables so so. Nice salads and good variety of appetizers.
My second time, and each was very enjoyable. Unfortunately on my last trip there was a very large birthday party going on that affected both the noise and service - but this was unusual
The food was amazing and all at a great price. My family loved the pita bread, hummus, kibbeh, samboussek, kebabs, and rice! The service was excellent as well. I will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in San Mateo. I highly recommend this place!
Great service this time. Very Happy. I just love their food. Love this place.
I really love this place. If only the wait staff cared. There is absolutely no urgency to any of their service. The food is great though.
We bought the $108 worth of food and was disappointed cuz it wasn't $108 worth. After looking at the menu, it was more like 60-70$ worth. So basically the value u pay on Groupon($65.00)is more of the regular price u would pay if u were to just walk into the restaurant. On top of the value we already paid from Groupon, we had 3 soda(2.50x3=7.50) and one beer at $5.00. That comes out to 12.50 plus tax which should be around $14.00 but the bill was $16 something plus tax and the total was $20 even on the bill. I don't know why, I didn't bother to ask cuz I didn't want to make a scene or anything. Now, the service was good and the food was good as well. For me, I wouldn't go back again cuz if u don't know how to add or use a calculator, u don't deserve my business. For anyone that goes there, check your bill and make sure it's correct unless u don't care.
Lovely food and good service. Not much on offer in the way of wines- no full bar. Very friendly service. Fantastic flavors! The atmosphere however really would benefit from an upgrade; lightning, art etc. But this is definitely a new local favorite. Cheap and cheerful!
Food is excellent. Restaurant felt a little tired and menus were rather grubby. Bit of a turn-off but food and wine were fabulous. Tried the appetizer assortment, salmon, chicken and mixed grill. Sizable portions.
The friend we had invited for dinner had seen this new restaurant among the many on 25th Ave in San Mateo, and wanted to try it. At 5:30 on a Thursday afternoon, we were the only diners. Tasteful low-key décor; service grave but attentive. A dish of sautéed (?) zucchini, tomatoes and onions was light on flavor. A stew of fish with vegetables was a mush with no distinguishing character. The recommended appetizer sampler was satisfactory but not outstanding. We are all fans of Middle Eastern food, but Tannourine was a disappointment.
Can't wait to go back . Excellent service and delicious food
We really enjoyed the Lebanese food - the kebbeh balls were a tasty appetizer. The lamb shank, kafta meshwi and shish kabab were so tender and flavorful. We also liked the atmosphere because it was not loud - we could actually converse with our friends. We will be back!
Place is nice, food is tasty, service was extremely slow. We were there with a group of coworkers and the waiter didn't come back for a while for us to order our food (after he offered us a group option that was way more money than what we were going to spend - we would have spent 50% more). A couple that came in after us got their food BEFORE we even ordered?. There were only 6 of us, so not a large group. Then we waited so long to pay that one of our team members had to go look for our waiter. We all had to get back to work! It was annoying.
We were also never offered any drinks. We got water. At one time I asked the table if they wanted something else, and they said "At this point, we just want to order our food." They said maybe there aren't any drinks, but there is a large display of wine on the back wall. I know at least one team member wanted to order a soda, but she never got the opportunity.
Will never go back there for lunch. I'd been there for dinner and it was nice. But for a work day lunch, it took way too long and there seemed to be no respect for our time.
Also, gratuity was included for a table of 6. Perhaps that is their rule, but we should have had a choice here.
The wait staff were superb - genuinely caring .
My 5th time in the restaurant.
Good food :-).
Will return soon
The food came quickly and was nice and hot. We ordered a lamb shank dish, the stuffed eggplant , and the combination appetizer... all were very good. We ordered 2 different white wines by the glasses and both were good. The waiter was knowledgeable about the main dishes and was very helpful in deciding our selections. We were pretty stuffed and did not order dessert.. they only have one which was Baklova. Definitely will go back to try other dishes.
The Lamb shank is great; on a tomato based vegetable sauce. (thick like stew). The waiters were accommodating and flexible. It is quiet on the weekends at lunch, and prices are even more reasonable. Everyone in the 4 person party wants to return.
This is a great place for delicious Mediterranean food. The falafels are some of the best I've had. Great veggie combo. They also do catering.
really nice atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon for long lunch!
A good local spot.
I have passed by Tannourine several times when shopping in the area so I made reservations for a dinner out with friends for a Saturday night. It has a nice dining room and the service was good on first arrival, after we received our appetizer plate and drinks the wait staff all but disappeared. We needed to flag down the waiter for every additional request. The menus were taken from us before we ordered our main dish so we had to wave a server down to get the menus and order our entree. We requested refill of water which never came. . Unfortunately, the food was just average and there was absolutely no follow up by any servers. The place began to fill up and it seemed that several customers knew the staff and owner because of the hugs and kisses that were given. The music began to play while we were finishing our tea. We did enjoy the music but our group noticed that we were getting many customers eyeballing our table and wait staff pointing us out in anticipation of us departing. We had to flag down the wait staff to get to-go boxes, but the bill was there before we had finished our tea. Do not come here if you want attentive service! Want to be ignored, this is the place to come.
Terrible, terrible waiter.
The food (beef and lamb shawame and the first item from the house specialty) is good. The wait staff is polite.
We had a great experience here. The service was timely, the food excellent with generous servings, and the atmosphere was conducive to conversation. The vegetarian options were much better than we had anticipated.
The food here was excellent and more than enough. It was a set menu for Valentine's Day, which we did not know about when we made the reservation. It would have been good to get a heads up when making the reservation through open table. We were also not told what was on the menu, nor was it posted on the door. HOWEVER, the food was great anyway (my husband thought the chicken selection was a bit dry) and plentiful. It was also varied and served family style for this occasion, so everyone got what they preferred at the table. The owner and server were pleasant. We were a party of three. My teenage daughter and I were presented with a Rose upon our departure for the holiday, which was a nice touch.
The decor was a little beaten up in places, but overall, it looked clean and worthy of a "tablecloth" restaurant decor.
Parking can be a bit difficult if you come before 7, as after this, some of the businesses close for the evening.
We have tried to get reservations on the weekends and they have been fully booked. However, they were strangely empty at 6:30, even though another restaurant down the street was overflowing. I don't know why, everything was pleasant and adequate for a Tuesday night Valentine's Day dinner!
