Tango Bistro Ratings and Reviews
I had the lobster dinner special and it was basically inedible. The clam chowder was milk thickened with cornstarch and not much else. The lobster was dry and we did not get any utensils to open the claws, the corn was overcooked and waterlogged and the baked potato was stale. I would not recommend this dish at all.
Unfortunately I hate writing negative reviews but if I can save anyone's time and money I would have to say tango is a place I would never go back to. Our server was absolutely horrible he didn't bring out our drinks Until our dinner was a done, thanfully for the other staff members that were assisting him bringing out the appetizer plates, and attending to our water or we would have been extremely dehydrated since our drinks didnt arrive.
Now the dinner- we started off with the clam chowder soup which was good definitely something I would not rave about, and out comes this cold small white dish off a lobster meal, The presentation of our dinner plate looked like we got it from a shelter/ prison (no joke) A teaspoon of what the call coleslaw, whith two bites of lobster, piece of well over cooked shrivelled corn, under cooked potatoe, and a cold stale biscuit on top.
There are where also other issues throughout the night.
With so many different restaurants to choose from save your money and dine somewhere else.
We had gone to Tango very excited to partake in the All You Can Eat Crab Boil, but it had been discontinued despite still being advertised as available. We were quite disappointed and instead ordered the Lobster Dinner (which was “coming soon” according to the website). The lobster was over cooked and the roe was off-putting for my children. The clam chowder was really good though.
We went for the first time since the menu was changed from tapas. We really enjoyed the new menu. I feel the new menu is slightly more expensive than the old menu, but there are still some more economical options which are also very delicious. We will definitely be back.
The atmosphere and service are fantastic. We got the seafood tower and some appies.
The seafood tower seafood was good however the clams were very small and we definitely would have left hungry without our appies. The scallops were amazing and the scallop crudo sample they gave us was delicious.
Overall a fantastic spot to be by the fire on date night.
Wow. Just wow. Came here with my hubby and another couple. We were all conversation until the food came. Then it was just mmmmm! Everything was delicious. We started with the seared scallops, french onion soup (best we've ever had), devilled eggs and crab cake. Then on to the most fantastic piece of beef - the Cote de Boeuf, gnocchi ratatouille mac & cheese and baked yam. Portions were generous, service was amazing and ambiance is gorgeous. Can't wait to go back and try the rest!!!!
I've came here for my 6th year anniversary. The server was very attentive and nice. The portions are generous and well prepared. Presentation was gorgeous.
We also happen to went on a Tuesday where they offer all night raw bar. I'm especially in love with the west coast oysters and the scallop crudo. It was really fresh.
We went to Tango Bistro for our anniversary on a Tuesday night and sat outside by the large scale fireplace. The service from Nathan was outstanding. We shared a number of plates to try more than we normally would.
The Seafood platter we created ourselves by choosing off of their Sushi style order form. It was excellent and we ordered raw oysters, oysters Rockefeller, scallops, shrimp, tuna tartare and lobster claws. All were outstanding and the sauces complimented the food perfectly.
For dinner we shared a perfectly cooked ribeye and added a deconstructed Caesar salad with anchovies, asparagus and a mushroom pot pie side that was unbelievable as a sauce on the steak.
I was very happy to have stumbled on Tango Bistro and will definitely be returning again. I have no problem recommending the place to everyone I know. 5 out of 5!
Tango has changed its concept since the last time I dined there. It is no longer all "small plates," but we found this visit to still be a terrific experience. The decor is a refreshing update with a comfortable vibe. The menu provided lots of options - something for everyone. Nice list of good wines available by the glass and a substantial variety of great beers, too. Our meal (combo beef and bison platter) was delicious, and our server, Paul, was friendly, very professional, and had lots of great suggestions. We'll look forward to our next visit!
Not happy with this place. First they jacked up the price to $25 per person from $22. You can do eat all you can. But the so called bouillabaisse consist of a few small shrimps, couple of clams, a few mussels and crab legs. The rest are made up of potatoes and corn. They all presented on a plate with bread on the side. Not exactly the Bouillabaisse Stew that I expected. The saving grace was the server who was cheerful and the room was comfortable. Not going back.
We went for the Bouillabaisse and were sadly disappointed to find this dish discontinued and a seafood bake was its replacement. Although the bake was good, we found that we preferred the bouillabaisse and sincerely hope that it will return to the menu. The appetizers were good and the salads awesome but huge; good to share. Everyone at the table adored the beignets but luckily we were to full to eat too many of those treats. One guest ordered the gnocchi ratatouille and said that it was delicious.
Holy moly! We are so full and the food was so good! We sat on the patio and it was so lovely. Our server was awesome. We started with cocktails which were delicious. It was half price bottles of wine, so obviously we took advantage of the great wine list! We started with the scallops which are a must! Then we shared the tenderloin with the mac and cheese, the poutine and the broccolini! It was all amazing and huge portions considering they were just sides! The value is good and the food is delicious. Definitely make your way there! Our only regret is not having room for dessert. Recommended!!
We went for the Sunday special of Bottomless Bouillabaisse, Bread and Beignets. Seafood in the soup was expertly prepared. I was impressed that I did not encounter one tiny bit of grit in the entire pot. Broth could use a boost in flavour. Comes with sliced crusty bread- it's ok, some had a garlicy butter spread on them and they were much tastier. Plain ones were meh. Also served with a mayonnaise of some kind that we couldn't quite figure out- it didn't match any of the flavours or textures. Beignets were FANTASTIC. Banana foam or whatever they're calling it is very reminiscent of the banana medicine of your 80s childhood...but the beignets themselves, slathered in nutella? Yes please.
Service lovely. Restaurant is impeccably clean.
Having celiac disease, dining out (even in gluten friendly restaurants is a risk. This is the one restaurant that I have returned to multiple times. I do avoid the sausage options, but otherwise it is great. You have your choice of salads/sides buffet style. All three playing! :) very well marked for multiple allergies.
The service basically stopped as soon as we were unresponsive to his pushy upsell on a $75 steak. Sat with empty cups nearly the entire meal thank god for the hostess or we would have died of thirst. Over priced and very poor service. The whole time we were there we were debating getting up and leaving it was so bad
As per usual with all of the restaurants under the Smugglers Restaurant Group, a wonderful and friendly experience. Food was great ("Teaseday" special with the Tower for 2, Mixed Grill and the Chocolate Pate as well as escargot and the Mac and cheese). Service was excellent, Conrad was very friendly and knowledgeable on the items that were served. My friend and I enjoyed this much more than when it was a tapas restaurant. Definitely would recommend that you try it at least once.
