Went here for the first time on a Thursday night. It was pretty quiet, but great ambiance. The food was awesome- had three small plates for 2 people which was perfect and a bottle of red. We lingered at the bar and when our bottle was finished, the bartender gave us each a complimentary glass, which was an unexpected and much appreciated surprise. I’ve told this to at least a dozen people afterward- I just love that kind of customer service/attention. I’ll be back, and will continue to recommend!
Great wine list (including many wines by the glass), good food, okay service. It's fine if eating along the sidewalk a block or two from upper Broadway is what you require. But given that it's not cheap, the service is sort of nonchalant and there are so many other restaurants nearby, I might explore other options first.
It was disappointing. Was looking forward to go there, but did not meet the buzz around it. They do have a great wine list. The outdoor seating area was dark, and people kept tripping due to the uneven floor. Nothing special about the food.
Very neighborhood-esk...love coming here w/friends to catch up over a good glass of wine w/out feeling rushed
Great reasonably oriced appetizers. Wine was great but not inexpensive. Overall a very pleasant experience.
Service was slow but space was just right. Would definitely go for a date again
Was there at Happy Hour before heading to Lincoln Center and ABT. Not too many folks as it was about 5pm but outside tables were filling up even though the weather was a little cloudy and cool.
Started with 6 $1 oysters, served nicely on ice with lemon wedges and mignonette sauce.
Then delicious mushroom arrancinni and a great messy, but worth every drip, crispy fish slider with slaw. Rose wine completed a very tasty and economical treat!
Attentive, pleasant service.
Great wine menu but the food was terrible. The pizzetta was literally a supermarket frozen pizza and the salmon crudo was funky...
We waited at least 5 minutes at the door before anyone came over it us , sat us at a table with menus only . Was loud and dark , needed to use our phone flashlight to see the menu. We sat there for 20 minutes with no one coming over so we left . We saw someone going around to the tables but never came to our table . Horrible service !! I can’t tell you how the food was we didn’t even get water .
Eight o’clock on a Saturday night you might expect a restaurant to be busy but you’d also expect the service to accommodate that as well. There were two servers who seemed to be working the same tables all without urgency. My group of 4 waited patiently in the beginning as we waited to have our drink order to be taken. Our waitress was lovely, bubbly and accommodating however as time lapsed even her demeanor couldn’t salvage the wait time. We sat without even bread or being checked on for sometime before we just asked for it. The other waiter returned with a basket of bread but left without return of butter, oil or even plates until again we flagged him down. Our food was fine, that’s it just “fine.” After nearly two hours had passed, we’d eaten and waited again for the waitress to check in. She did not. Forget getting dessert we wanted to get the bill to leave and even that required a long wait. I wanted to like this place but it felt like restaurant purgatory. I almost felt bad for the table of 3 come in shortly before we left because it seemed like they were headed for the same experience after waiting for sometime after being seated with only menus.
Nice vibe and good to grab a drink and catch up with friends.
Always relaxed & great!*:)
My friend and I had dined once before at Tangled Vine and decided to return there for another get-together. The service was attentive but not intrusive. I have a food allergy and our server responsibly checked my dinner choice with the chef to be sure I would be OK. The food was beautifully prepared and presented. My friend and I both had the salmon with vegetables. Very delicious. We will be returning again soon!
Great neighborhood joint, & a secret NYC gem!*:)
Not all wines on the wine list were available. Happy hour was great. Oysters were nice.
Casual, delightful atmosphere. Great service and food. Nice to have Small Plates that can be shared. The kale and arugula salad was excellent. Good place to meet a friend for a casual but lovely light meal. Nice that happy hour continues until 7!
Great service, food and wine selection!
Great cool ambience & cool hospitality!
To me, the meatballs (3), $18, were mediocre and were served at room temperature. I sent them back and they were sent out warm, not hot.
Service was excellent: friendly and efficient. Environment is relaxed and people are friendly. Food was delivered promptly and was well prepared. We will go back. Nice place and nice people.
Great little place with a small menu sticking to what they know best. The food is excellent and the service is just as good. Great wine selection
Great food, wine and service. Good for dates.
Great wine bar on the UWS. Love the bites. Definitely will be coming back
My friend and I met for an early dinner. While I was waiting for my friend to arrive, the waitress could not have been nicer, answering my questions about lactose-free choices from the menu. She even reached out to the bakery where they get their bread to be sure there was not milk. we ordered a variety of small plates. Everything was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The butternut squash hummus was light and delicious, served with fantastic, crusty bread. The pan-seared shrimp was gorgeous and flavorful! We'll be back!
We've been coming here for a few years and have enjoyed each visit. Traffic seems to have picked up, so reservations are a must. We booked a table for 5:30pm and the place was packed when we got there. Service was great. The menu changes enough to keep it interesting, but not too much if there's something you like to return for.
Great little wine bar with tapas type menu and choices of wine tasting flights and laid back atmosphere. Loved it.
A great gem in the neighborhood. I came here with my boyfriend, and we both LOVED the spaghetti squash with pesto! With the high quality of food, we were surprised to be among the few tables eating at the restaurant that night. Maybe it was a quiet night, but this place is certainly underrated. Will definitely be back!
We walked by on our way to the Beacon, around 6Pm, and the restaurant was packed.
Our reservation was for 10 pm, but the show went a little longer so I called around 10:15, made sure they could still take us, and ran over. At 10:25 we got there, went in, and waited several minutes to be acknowledged. Eventually I got a waitresses attention, asked if we could sit, she nodded her head and walked away. We picked a table for 2 and another waitress walked by threw 2 menus on the table and walked away without looking up or saying a word. That, along with the DIRTY glasses on the table were a huge turn off, so we left. PS...did I mention there were only 2 tables of customers inside? If they were upset we were late, or if they didn't want to serve us, they could have said that when I called. This restaurant is on Amsterdam, and in an area that is completely packed with several restaurants on every block. No excuse for rudeness, and no excuse for dirty glasses, even on a busy Saturday night!
Last minute find in the upper west side. Perfect for small plates/tapas and very nice wine selection.
A friend and I selected this restaurant for dinner before a show at the Delacorte Theater because they had a nice selection of vegetarian options on the dinner menu posted on their website. It turned out that NOTHING in the "From The Garden" section of the menu are actually available, as that menu is NOT current. In fact, our waiter scratched his head when I showed him the menu on my smartphone. The ONLY vegetarian option was a Kale salad, and we didn't have time to find another restaurant before showtime. Very disappointing experience. If you're vegetarian, don't waste your time at the Tangled Vine.
cool vibe, tasty food, would definitely return if in the area.
The menu on their website is out of date. Much of the food listed is not available and it is now more of a bar.
Bar turned wine bar so they can charge $15 for a glass of wine. Service was good but the wine bar was bad overall
The happy hour is a great deal and the service was great. 1 dollar oysters and the veal meat balls are a must. The wine is a a dollar or 2 more then most happy hours but the quality justified the price with out a question.
Food was very goodWent on a Groupon and it was well worth the money. Service was excellent and the portions reasonably sized. I had the ravioli which was good. The kale salad was a bit dry. Would go ack to try again
A really satisfying casual wine bar, with very tasty small plates (the sliders are especially nice), warm and efficient service, and a very good (if slightly pricy) wine list. The happy hour specials are an especially good deal.
I went with two girlfriends to catch up and have low key dinner. The ambiance is lovely, warm and intimate, nice for conversation.
The wines are great and the food is good. Service was excellent.
I've also been here to meet a friend at the bar for a drink and it's perfect for that.
It's a great neighborhood spot!
Visited with a lady friend who is quite particular about her wines. She NEVER has two glasses - until now!!! The appetizers were outstanding. Again we reordered. Comfortable neighborhood feel. Warm, cozy, inviting. Plan to return and would highly recommend it to anyone!!!
Enjoyed our dining. The food was delicious. The service was great.
