Disappointing. Food was mediocre. Pizza was quasi tasteless. Chicken wings were fine. Nothing interesting on the menu. For my main I asked for the curry to be spicy. And it came back super hot. Service was slow. Ordered champagne to start and one of the glasses came flat. When we asked to have it changed it was done no problem. But the server commented that it was the end of the bottle and thought it might be. Seriously? Then why serve it at $15 a glass.
Ordered two entrees and an appetizer. Every item felt like it was missing something. Creative ideas but poor execution in my experience. The staff was very friendly though and def a very romantic setting! After having a poor experience with the food, seeing a bill of over $100 was just cap on an already underwhelming experience.
Overall underwhelming, almost no one was there at 7pm on a Saturday night and the waiter obviously wasn't sure what to do with himself. Food was good and there was a nice view of the Harbor but overall a so-so experience.
A reliable standard.
Just a super hotel restaurant with outstanding food and our server Devon was as good as it gets. Best buffalo wings ever. My wife loved her salmon filet.
Special get together for family and friends. We had a party of 7. I had originally booked the reservation for 5 and then just before coming my daughter and her boyfriend was able to attend. On short notice the TAMO accommodated the larger group perfectly. We had a beautiful table and Gustavo our server gave us the most amazing service. Food was great. My vegetarian daughter was impressed. Thank you TAMO and Seaport Hotel. Oh the service was amazing and also quick. They were busy and our food was served on time and delicious!
We were in Boston for a night and stayed at Seaport Hotel where the restaurant is located. We just needed to eat food - I mean any food - as there was no food service during our international flight from Europe to the U.S.
Anyway, we were extremely lucky to find this fine restaurant because of our waiter (Oscar?) who was excellent in customer service. He welcomed us with friendly greetings and conversation. The food was excellent too. We ordered scallops and they tasted absolutely fresh (we really didn’t expect to eat old seafood in Boston to begin with.) Too bad we don’t get to dine there any time soon as we live in Denver, CO. Like I said, we were there for a night for a plane transfer.
Grabbed a bite with my girlfriend as we were headed to the flower showing because of the convenience and location of your location we opted to dine at Tamo. I Asked for the Dine Out Boston menu but was told there was no menu for Dine Out Boston.
Not sure if I misread or misunderstood that you are not participating but Dine Out Boston started yesterday and your menu was on the Dine Out Boston website.
We were seated promptly at our reservation time. Very nice atmosphere and very friendly professional staff. Food was ok but I expected it to be better considering the location. Our reservation was at 7:15 on a Friday evening and they were already out of the daily special and all out of sushi . This was disappointing considering the menu was not that large to pick from. Good wine and beer list.
I met a couple of girlfriends for lunch and we all enjoyed our meal very much. Love the comfy chairs.
Hostess and waitress very nice. Cocktails good. Only issue was Veal Porter house was all bone.
Good food, good service at a great value. Restaurant was clean and contemporary. I would highly recommend this establishment.
Friday special Fish and Chips was delicious. Could be split with a friend.
I decided to go to the SeaPort Hotel for an overnight stay in Boston for my 21st birthday. It just happened to be one of the coldest days and nights of the year so I decided to not even leave the hotel and get dinner at TAMO. Everything was wonderful. Interesting and delicious appetizers, fun drinks, great service and filling food. The waitresses were very kind and even let me know the gratuity was included. I will be returning to not only the SeaPort Hotel but TAMO very soon.
The food was like good pub fare but not at the level of a Seaport restaurant or what would be indicative of the Seaport hotel. My openTable reservation was never acknowledged but the wait staff (no host that night) so I had to dispute it. A moderately priced Chardonnay from the wine list could not be found in the wine cellar and so a more expensive bottle had to be purchased. Wait staff eager but only moderately experienced. We’re not upset but not going back.
A very enjoyable and tasty experience with a terrific staff.
While the food was absolutely amazing, the service was very poor. Our server rushed through ordering, to the point that she seemed annoyed with having to come over and talk to us. I was unable to ask about any substitutions or specific questions on sides because as soon as I ordered my entree she said "okay" and moved on. She did not follow up with us to see if everything was okay, either (although it mostly was).
Also, Tamo requires an 18% service fee "in lieu of tips." Hopefully they are actually paying their waitstaff a living wage to with that, but it does limit incentive options for both good and bad service from a customer standpoint.
Certain items on the menu are FANTASTIC and others are only fair. I would definitely return for the desserts after dinner elsewhere. The Smores and Cream Brulee were some of the best desserts I have ever had. The meatball appetizer and the lobster roll were also really good. The salmon and lamb shank were definitely not worthy of repeating. No parking and the restaurant doesn't valet or validate for the hotel parking. Not worth the cost of parking and hassle unless you are staying in the hotel already or are walking from a nearby spot.
Super comfortable seats. Attentive waitstaff. Great creative fresh food prepared perfectly.
Terrible service from the wait staff and the steak was not fully cooked
Varied menu of very high quality. Great service and the whole family were very satisfied.
Quite noisy on a Saturday evening but that did not spoil the great dinner.
Had a great experience at Tamo! Professional friendly service and wonderful food. We had a group with mixed dining needs and all were met! Quiet and civilized environment which is good for conversation!
Great food and service, overflow from bar made restaurant too loud. Should consider a noise barrier between the bar and restaurant
Service was wonderful! Our waiter was awesome. Food is good, atmosphere is quiet, and the restaurant overall is on the casual/fancy side. Good for a 21 and over family dinner or date night.
Tamo provides that relaxed, spacious, comfortable feeling. While the menu is not extensive the quality of the food is very good. The staff was very friendly.
Loved our experience! Enjoyed the personal attention and vreat food!
I ate here with a friend before the Sting concert. The menu was pretty limited, but made choosing easy. We both had the Wedge salad with chicken. It was pretty good but not great like you get at a steakhouse. What delighted me was the oyster stew - spicy, with sausage and spinach. Very rich mix of flavors and I would order this again. The waiter was very attentive. We were surprised that they added a gratuity to the bill of 18% - unusual for a party of two, but we figured perhaps it is because some international guests may not be accustomed to tipping and this ensures that the wait staff gets what is due. The beer selection is nice and I enjoyed an IPA I hadn't had before. The ambiance is rather formal, so this is a place for quiet conversation rather than party time.
We selected Tamo for a dinner with family and friends. Each appetizer and main was excellent. The spicy tuna was delicious. It was in a hotel but this is no ordinary hotel restaurant.
Very nice chicken and waffles, though it felt we were sitting in the hotel reception...
Went to Tamo for restaurant week - it offered good options for $33 3 course dinner - Chocolate cake was fantastic and we loved the seasonal grilled vegetables for the appetizer. Had dinner outside on a beautiful summer night - it's a little busy with traffic but still enjoyable. Service was friendly.
Excellent food, no bad choices on the menu. Gratuity included in the bill. 2 ap
We went to Tamo before a show at the Pavillion. We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation, but were seated promptly - it was not busy for a Saturday night! There were 4 of us dining. We ordered drinks and then placed our food order. 45 minutes later, I had to ask the waitress to check on our order. She came back and said they were plating it and would be out in 5 minutes. We now had only 30 minutes until show time. We gobbled up our food and ran out to the show - it had already started. Oh well!
So, the food was good. My burger was a little over done, but tasty. The lobster roll was reportedly very good. The don't ask for steak tips on your wedge salad - they will charge you and extra $12, even though you didn't get the included chicken. Pork tacos were good, but very small. The prosciutto meatballs were good, but a little salty.
The waitress was okay - she did not stop by our table to see if we needed anything; didn't even let us know that our food would be out soon (which it wasn't).
So, overall the experience was not worth the wait.
We got the cheese dip for an app which was mediocre. For our meals we got steak and veggies. The steak was fatty and pretty bland and the veggies had an odd taste...something like vinegar with a kick. Would not recommend either.
The service was terrible. The waitress didn't ask how the food was and we had to keep asking for more water.
This was my first and last time ever going to TAMO.
Great comfort food. Great service. Really nice to be able to dine outdoors.
Sitting outside is the best part of this location. Our server was fantastic. Brown sugared bacon and prosciutto meatballs were awesome and above average appetizers. Superb taste.
I ordered shredded pork tacos. They were average in the presentation and taste. My girlfriend ordered curry chicken and would not share so it must have been good. I tried the other meals. My daughter ordered buffalo chicken. Not a typical taste. Was a little bitey. And quality of the chicken itself was average. Her boyfriend ordeted chicken and waffles. Was ok. Maple flavored waffles with crispy fried chicken. Disappointed syrup was not part if the equation and the expected fun of eating this unusual cultish meal.
All on all, was an average place to eat. Appetizers were the best part of food. Sitting outside be at part of ambience.
Our table was ready on time and we were lucky to be seated near a large group of friends. It took at least 5 minutes before our waiter came over. It seem like we started with one wait staff member and then switched to a different one. Perhaps there was confusion over whose table it was. In any case, once the service began, it was excellent! The lobster roll was one of the best I've ever had and my companions loved their meals too. We were attending a concert & the waiter was very obliging in making sure that we were able to finish up & pay our check in a timely manner. Overall, great experience. I will definitely return!
We sat indoors which was comfortable, quiet, and attractive. Small menu, but a variety of choices among which our group had the North End Pizza, the lobster roll, turkey wrap, pork tacos, steak and cheese spring rolls, and the burger. Everything was prepared and plated with care and was fresh and delicious. They use locally sourced ingredients. Service was good - efficient and respectful. I would definitely go back.
This was our first visit here, and had I known they had an outdoor seating area I would have requested that. I would suggest that when they call to reconfirm a reservation they should ask if the patron has a preference for indoors or out. Instead we were told upon arrival that there was no room for us outside so we would have to eat indoors. Not a good greeting, but indoors was pleasant and comfortable, so it was fine. Very enjoyable meal.
Tamo has a great menu but we were disappointed when 2 of the 4 appetizers were unavailable. The restaurant kindly comped our soft drinks because the apps were unavailable. On the whole the food was good. The sushi (lobster sushi and spicy tuna) was delicious but way too large to put into your mouth in one bite. Having to cut them took a bit away from the dish. The chipotle sauce gave life to the otherwise bland and flavorless steak and cheese spring rolls. Everyone LOVED the candied bacon strips. The scallop dish was the best entre ordered - large, well-seared and fresh. The steak tips were good but not outstanding. Our waiter was extremely friendly and professional but it took a very long time for our food to be served -- despite the restaurant being relatively quiet. We got there at noon but we weren't served any food for the first 45 minutes or so. The meal took a full 90 minutes from start to finish. I wouldn't balk at going back to Tamo for lunch but it wouldn't be my first choice either.
Best lobster roll I had for its value!!
Really enjoyed the Tiki Bowl cocktail! Great choice for Blue Hills Bank Pavilion pre- concert meal .
