I decided to go to the SeaPort Hotel for an overnight stay in Boston for my 21st birthday. It just happened to be one of the coldest days and nights of the year so I decided to not even leave the hotel and get dinner at TAMO. Everything was wonderful. Interesting and delicious appetizers, fun drinks, great service and filling food. The waitresses were very kind and even let me know the gratuity was included. I will be returning to not only the SeaPort Hotel but TAMO very soon.

The food was like good pub fare but not at the level of a Seaport restaurant or what would be indicative of the Seaport hotel. My openTable reservation was never acknowledged but the wait staff (no host that night) so I had to dispute it. A moderately priced Chardonnay from the wine list could not be found in the wine cellar and so a more expensive bottle had to be purchased. Wait staff eager but only moderately experienced. We’re not upset but not going back.

While the food was absolutely amazing, the service was very poor. Our server rushed through ordering, to the point that she seemed annoyed with having to come over and talk to us. I was unable to ask about any substitutions or specific questions on sides because as soon as I ordered my entree she said "okay" and moved on. She did not follow up with us to see if everything was okay, either (although it mostly was).

Also, Tamo requires an 18% service fee "in lieu of tips." Hopefully they are actually paying their waitstaff a living wage to with that, but it does limit incentive options for both good and bad service from a customer standpoint.

Certain items on the menu are FANTASTIC and others are only fair. I would definitely return for the desserts after dinner elsewhere. The Smores and Cream Brulee were some of the best desserts I have ever had. The meatball appetizer and the lobster roll were also really good. The salmon and lamb shank were definitely not worthy of repeating. No parking and the restaurant doesn't valet or validate for the hotel parking. Not worth the cost of parking and hassle unless you are staying in the hotel already or are walking from a nearby spot.

Varied menu of very high quality. Great service and the whole family were very satisfied.
Quite noisy on a Saturday evening but that did not spoil the great dinner.

Tamo provides that relaxed, spacious, comfortable feeling. While the menu is not extensive the quality of the food is very good. The staff was very friendly.

I ate here with a friend before the Sting concert. The menu was pretty limited, but made choosing easy. We both had the Wedge salad with chicken. It was pretty good but not great like you get at a steakhouse. What delighted me was the oyster stew - spicy, with sausage and spinach. Very rich mix of flavors and I would order this again. The waiter was very attentive. We were surprised that they added a gratuity to the bill of 18% - unusual for a party of two, but we figured perhaps it is because some international guests may not be accustomed to tipping and this ensures that the wait staff gets what is due. The beer selection is nice and I enjoyed an IPA I hadn't had before. The ambiance is rather formal, so this is a place for quiet conversation rather than party time.

We selected Tamo for a dinner with family and friends. Each appetizer and main was excellent. The spicy tuna was delicious. It was in a hotel but this is no ordinary hotel restaurant.
