It was a busy Saturday night and we were lucky to get reservations for 5 at the last minute at Tamo. It is unfortunate that someone earlier posted a poor review -- perhaps we were the beneficiaries of that discouraging review because we snagged a table that evening for out of town guests who came to Boston spur of the moment. Our service was very good -- the wait staff was quite attentive. It's a fancy gastropub in the Seaport Hotel but there was something on the menu for everyone, including a teenage boy in our party who had a huge plate of chicken tacos. The poke bowls were particularly good and the portions of all dishes were generous. It was a frigid November night but we felt warm and cozy and unrushed inside.
The menu is awkward in layout and descriptions so it doesn’t do justice to the delicious & well prepared items.
The service was great, and the space made it easy for a table of six to converse. That cannot be said for many a Seaport restaurant. Oh, and the $12 wine flight was well thought out but descriptive hang tags off the glasses would have improved the experience.
Everything is perfect except for the server that just came to work and not to please the customer which is just fine. Hospitality and friendliness should comes with the package.
I actually liked Tamo at first glance and thought the food was good and reasonably priced. We did the Restaurant Week special, and I thought it was pretty sneaky and honesty a little cheap to put a 3 course menu on but in small print say you can only actually pick 2 courses. Also the automatic 18% gratuity for a party of 2 rubbed me the wrong way. Sure we can ask to change it but who is going to ask the waiter to give them less tip? It was weird and actually made me not want to go back.
Food and waiter were both amazing! in a great location and the drinks were delicious as well. The menu has many different types of food on it so anyone can eat there!
One waiter in particular was unfamiliar with the menu. A “banana split” was ordered for dessert that wasn’t at all like the menu described — it came with all vanilla ice cream, no syrup, etc. Brought that to the attention of one of the THREE waiters that served us, and he essentially blew it off. An 18% “service charge” was added to the bill without advising us. I almost gave him/them a double tip. When asked WTF, waiter said cuz they get a lot of businessmen there. Seriously? Never again.
We were seated right away and our friendly (and professional) waiter greeted us, taking our drink order. I asked about the Tamo Martini, no longer on the menu, and he had the bartender make one for me. : ) We both ordered the salmon over black rice and were extremely pleased with the dish. Because we were catching a show at the Pavilion across the street, we didn't linger too long after dinner. We were both happy to have chosen Tamo, among all the new Seaport restaurants that have recently opened, and we look forward to returning!
Tamo was a very odd experience. When we asked for a seat outside, they said they didn't take reservations for outside (only inside) even though we made a reservation already. They still sat us down outside anyways which was good. We had 4 different servers throughout the night, which seemed odd. Took a while to take our drink order. After several waiters had dropped glasses around us (mistakes happen), we ordered drinks. They gave us our sangria in a pitcher with a large crack in the spout and glass missing -- we weren't sure when it was cracked so we were worried that glass might be in the sangria, this could have been very dangerous. They replaced it when we told them. Food was fine, a bit overpriced. Hoping they can fix these odd issues for people in the future.
Very interesting food - nothing I would make - which is what I like when I eat out. The place is not cheap - and they automatically add in the gratuity (I almost always tip 20% - so the 18% they add in is less than I tip - so can't complain about that - just making folks aware)
Love that they had different types of "drink bowls".
Unfortunately we felt the food was overpriced for the quality and our waiter was not the most attentive and did not feel he was enjoying his job.
Good food and excellent service. Let us order from the inside restaurant at the outside tables
Great location for a business lunch - wait staff was very accommodating, food was great.
Devin was a great server! Food was good. Ambiance very good.
Great service wonderful place to sit outdoors
Absolutely my favorite restaurant in the seaport!
EXCELLENT service. Yummy food. Comfortable and great for business meeting.
Excellent meal and atmosphere
Will definitely recommend this spot to others
Very good food, Busy atmosphere. Great environment for dinning
That day was no customer at all, I put reservation for birthday. After ate she just brought the check and after I paid she just said I had reserved for birthday. I went to get cake at other restaurant instead.
I’m not sure why just 2 people you are gratuity the bill 18%. But it’s ok, I don’t paid 20%
Our granddaughter flew into Boston on business and stayed at the Seaport, we met her for lunch at Tamo. Very happy with the experience! We had a mid afternoon lunch, restaurant was quiet, seating was comfortable, food was very good and Michael our waiter was most pleasant and knowledgeable, he made the dining part of our meeting terrific.
Great food & service
Fun menu, very creative! Delicious food. Slow service.
There on a Friday night and the bar was noisy so we moved to inside the restaurant which worked out well.
Environment was great, service was great, the table was fairly large and we were just a little too far apart but the night was great!
Lovely restaurant in Seaport Hotel offers an interesting menu, which includes a few surprises (e.g., Nepalese Dal). A gratuity of 18% is automatically included in the check for parties of all sizes.
Food was good but not spectacular. Service was very slow and inattentive. As far as ambience, it's a hotel restaurant and looks like it.
Service was excellent as was the food. I would like to see more 'lighter fare.' Seemed more of a dinner menu than a lunch menu
The restaurant setup is very comfortable. Feels like sitting in a lobby with comfy chairs and you can dine. The service was friendly. We shared chicken nachos, which was a generous portion and had a varied combo of toppings. Tasty! I had scallops with sweet and sour cucumber "noodles" that was delicious. It had a good spice level and was cooked well. Everyone else said dishes were delicious - mixed grill with seafood and chicken curry. Would recommend for casual dining and excellent value. Excellent cocktail too.
COULD HAVE SERVED DRAWN BUTTER WITH LOBSTER TAIL
It's not easy to find a restaurant where every course is a gem. We even returned for lunch the next day! The Grilled Avocado appetizer is a must. Also very much enjoyed the Sriracha Glazed Scallops and the Ora King Salmon. Perfect ending was the Maple Cheesecake. Service was professional with just the right amount of friendly!
Food was great- service a 10 and ambiance perfect!
It was our first time at Tamo and it was Okay. Just Okay. It seemed to be in an extension of the lobby of the Seaport Hotel and full of young families. We had the steak tips, medium which were small thin rectangles, fairly tender but not very flavorful. We asked for honey mustard dressing even though it wasn't listed as an option on the menu. They said that could whip up some for us but it seemed to me mostly mustard and a little intense. It was an adequate meal but we probably won't go there again.
The food was just ok. Nachos were loaded with refried beans little meat and cheese and just seemed like a big pile of goop on top of nacho chips. My taco was good not fantastic but good.
Good food and good location for a business lunch in the Seaport district.
Made a reservation for two just in case I was not able to get a spot at the bar for a quick date drink wnd apps before going to a Laugh Boston show. Glad I did as the bar was packed on a December Friday evening at 6 PM Definitely very loud, and I had forgotten or didn’t realize this was effectively a hotel bar/restaurant, which you don’t really notice when you check out their website Host sat me very quickly although my date was not yet thei but was moments away. Initial service was a bit slow before a waiter came to us, but he recovered with great service overall, and was mindful of our time constraints because of the show. My date enjoyed the maple Mojito and I was drinking red wine, though my first glass of the Makbec was horrible ( perhaps a corked bottle or just one that’s been open two long ) and I sent it back which is something I literally have never done… Thankfully the waiter allowed me to change it out for the super Tuscan which I enjoyed with the steak and cheese spring rolls which were a lot larger than expected but were quite tasty. We also shared the candied bacon which always sounds better than it’s going to be, and they serve it cold in a small paper bag as part of its presentation, it was good but didn’t knock our socks off. Overall a little bit pricey for what you get value wise but still a good experience
Tamo was closed until 11:30 serving lunch so allowing a reservation at 9:30am was confusing on arrival. We did eat at Aura in the Seaport Hotel and the buffet was great.
Service was outstanding, menu was varied and everything delicious
My go to lunch spot! Food is always tasty and of great quality!
Wine list is lacking otherwise a decent experience
