Tamarind - Tribeca Ratings and Reviews
The owner is a lovely gent, welcomes everyone makes you feel special. My chicken Marsala was tough and our waiter wasted no time taking it away and replacing with another very tasty plate. Very nice, professional service. We will return!
This is a most wonderful place. We have come here for an early New Year’s Eve dinner for years. The restaurant is large but one feels like one is in an intimate setting. The owner is always available and the staff and food are perfection. There is always a chef inspired special at normal prices on NYE and it is gourmet. We have eaten at Tamarind many other times as well and it is just as special. Well prepared Indian food that is tasty, fresh , not greasy, served in an elegant atmosphere with a strong touch of warm and polished service . What more can one ask for.
We were seated by a corner, by the window and there was a very cold draft coming through. We asked for different seating but we were told there was none was available. It was very uncomfortable. I don’t think anyone should be put there on such a cold day. Items used to prepare the food seemed to be better quality but I am on the fence about how much better this place is as compared to other more cheaper places. Overall good for a date night.
Having travelled extensively around the world from Africa, to the UK to India to Australia and now the US, I can say that this has to be the best Indian Restaurant that I have been to for the amazing food, ambience & quality of service. Highly recommend it!
This is the 3rd year the family has gone here for Christmas dinner. I guess it's a tradition now. The ambiance, food, and service are all top notch without being pretentious or stuffy. I will definitely recommend this place to family and friends and I will be returning for another great dinner sometime soon. (That says a lot because there are sooooooo many restaurants in nyc that if a place is just ok or pretty good I don't usually go back. I only return if it's really good.)
Always the best Indian food, presented beautifully under direct supervision of Mr. Walia (the Owner) who is there to supervise every service. Staff is polite and attentive. From Harabhara Kabab and veg. Samsosa, to paneer lababdar and Nargisi Kofta and finishing up with signature Mango Cheese Cake - you can't go wrong! Tamarind Margarita is consistently made.
Came with my husband to celebrate five years and we're not disappointed. The staff is very attentive, the space is very peaceful and expansive, and the prices aren't bad given the location, especially for the vegetarian options.
The dessert in particular was exceptional - we had the passion fruit cheesecake special with cherry sorbet which was out of this world.
Would highly recommend overall!
