Tamarind - Tribeca Ratings and Reviews
Thanksgiving dinner here with my parents. I’ve been a few times and the food was fantastic each time : ). My parents also were impressed by the taste and quality and they are quite discerning. No hesitations to recommend Tamarind for the high end Indian experience!
Tamarind is always a treat. The food is amazing, the ambiance is lovely, and the staff is great. Vinay is knowledgeable and attentive, and he always remembers me when I go to Tamarind. I have been coming here for several years, especially for special occasions, including my final dinner out in NYC before I moved. I can't say enough good about this place.
Tamarind remains one of the best Indian restaurants anywhere. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic service, great food and worthy of the high ratings it always receives. It's always consistent and a great special occasion place as well. I have been recommending this restaurant for years and will continue you to so. Thank you!!!!
This was my second time, and my guests' first. We all enjoyed it very much. The only problem was that we had trouble understanding the waiter when he was speaking to us because of noise level, and thick accent. Did not want to make him repeat all the specials!
Fine dining. Wonderful meal, great service and nice wine list. Our server was friendly, good suggestions and gave us time to talk, we took our time. We had a 3 hour meal. For the price, the pre-fix menu was the best value. We had so much food, we had leftovers for lunch the next day. I want to come back for my anniversary or birthday.
Came here for my husband’s birthday and we had an amazing experience - from the hostess who told our waiter it was my husband’s birthday and surprised us with a complimentary dessert to the amazing food and service! Everything was just superb, would definitely recommend this restaurant!!
As we were in NY for one night and it was my birthday we were really looking forward to this evening. The food and service were excellent. The tandoori mains are huge so we would probably share one if we dined here again. The breads were great and the daal was tasty. Service is attentive but not intrusive. We met the owner and he looked like he has a very high standard.
We reserved through OpenTable, turned up to the restaurant five minutes before our time and we weren't seated until 35 minutes later – even walk-ins who turned up after us seated before us. The restaurant did acknowledge this with a free appetizer but it wasn't a great start.
The food was good but not great. For an Indian restaurant in the US, it rates quite highly but if this was in a country with a bigger Indian population (e.g. the UK), the food would be average and not stand out. Considering how expensive the food is, you can get way better food at better value at several restaurants in Curry Hill (just east of Madison Square Park).
Girlfriend and I met here for a late lunch. I was up from DC for the day and looking for a classy place downtown. Love India and it’s food. Even if you’re not a fan of the food or familiar with it, you can find something here. Business folks were dining; some Indian, some not. The space is beautiful and reminiscent of the late great Chanterelle, but more modern. I appreciate that the owner was walking the floor and clearly takes pride in his restaurant, as he should. Children and strollers are not allowed, which helps the ambience. I have two under four and understand it’s nothing personal. Bottom line, this place is worth trying!
I loved this restaurant the first time I ate there . This time I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass again and it was not quite cooked in the middle. The table was on the floor level close to the bus boy station and looking out of an unused door. So we had none of the ambiance you get from the middle and upstairs area. The staff seemed disinterested in reseating us and it took the enjoyment out of the experience. I probably will not go back.
My wife and I visited for my birthday and our server was very helpful in recommending various options based on our preferences without being overbearing. Everything we had, from appetizer to dessert was excellent and we really appreciated the inclusion of some nicer half-bottles of wine on the list. We intend to find a reason to return ASAP.
It’s been almost 10 years since I was last hear. My wife and I had an absolutely phenomenal time and ordered way more than we could finish. The Cornish Hen and Punjabi Mutton were both outstanding and we really enjoyed the Rasmalai for dessert. I highly recommend for those who like Indian food.
Went to celebrate a new business venture for my husband’s company, and had a flawless time. Mohammed and his staff took care of everything! The attention to detail was impeccable. Food was delicious, but food can be delicious anywhere. It’s the hospitality that can’t be taught, and Mohammed and his staff were amazing!!!!!
Thank you for making our night one to remember. We will definitely return.
