Vinay was extremely good in ensuring a fantastic dinner experience at Tamarind. Thanks Vinay !!
Service is great. The menu has everything for anyone who enjoys Indian cuisine. Definitely will go back
We absolutely loved it. I couldn’t be happier about the experience. The staff is so careful all the time and on point. We will be coming back for sure.
I went here with my daughter after hearing a co-worker rave about it. Every part of our meal from the apps to drinks to main course was outstanding. I would particularly recommend the spicy crab appitizer
High end service. Excellent food and presentation. Cocktails were excellent. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended.
Had an amazing time with my family. Amazing food with amazing service.
We had not been for some time and were looking forward to it. We were disappointed. Firstly we had to wait 25mins for our table, secondly and more importantly the kitchen has slipped a lot. We like and enjoy spicy food, but what Tamarind had to offer was bland, rather old-fashioned and uninteresting. A chilli/crab starter was far too hot, with the chilli totally overwhelming the crab making it very unidimensional. Plating was unimaginative with a patty sitting in the middle of the planet with some pink kale for decoration on top. The second starter, lamb patties were also overly hot, leaving no room for any other flavor. One main course of halibut was way overcooked and dry. My entrée of lamb vindaloo had the heat I expected but little other flavor except for far too much vinegar (an important ingredient but should be in moderation. Try comparing that to the magnificent vindaloo at Chola's on E. 58th St., for example.
We will sadly not return.
Have always loved The restaurant and frequented when it was in the Flatiron district and have followed it to Tribeca... by far best Indian cuisine in the city and service impeccable!
This was another incredible meal at Tamarind Tribeca! The food is sensational, the service is outstanding, and the décor is elegant yet comfortable!
The quality of the food has declined over the years. It's good, but not great anymore, therefore, not worth the price point.
The service was very variable depending on who came over to attend to us.
An excellent fine dinning experience.
The staff is very friendly.
The food was, as always excellent and our server, Vinay, was most attentive and extremely nice! Even though we can only come about once a year, the staff always seems to recognize us and that feels great! Would absolutely recommend
What a pleasure to enjoy lunch at this establishment. The food was a delight, the staff was kind and attentive, and we met the owner as well. Definitely returning again.
We loved everything about this restaurant. First impression: it is beautiful. Service was sensitive and spot on. The place is super clean. There is enough space between tables for conversation. We had the restaurant week lunch. There was a generous amount of food and a lot of tasty choices.
The starters were better than the entrees. We ordered items from both NYC restaurant week and the a la crate menu, unfortunately the NYC restaurant week menu left little to be desired. The crab and duck starters were tasty. We order the mixed seafood and meat tandoori grills, there were lots of flavorless fish on the menu. The grilled meats were better but leaves you feeling heavy but that’s Indian food in general.
Quality has gone down but still among the best dining options for Indian Food in the country.
Amazing food! Amazing staff! One of the best restaurants in NYC.
Finally got to dine at Tamarind after hearing such great reviews. Delicious!!! We arrived really early and was able to sit down within minutes. The staff is professional and friendly. Will definitely go there again!
Tamarind continues to impress with its 5-star decor, fabulous food, and attentive service. Mr. Walia is always there with his graciousness as a welcoming host. Our waiter, Vinay, was utterly professional, caring for the dietary needs including an allergy to tomato -- he checked with the chef who was amenable to preparing one or two dishes sans tomato. The halibut was fabulous, and the Farsvi bean dish was unusual and very tasty. Leave room for the cardamom creme brule. It's scrumptious.
Authentic Indian cuisine, lovely ambiance. Special thanks to our server, Vinay, along with outstanding staff, for helping make this a wonderful dining experience.
Always love Tamarind. We make a point of taking our entire staff here during restaurant week, everyone orders different dishes and they are all excellent. Service is great, looking around the room, everyone dining seems happy. And there is virtually no extra noise level to interfere with actual conversations. Such a pleasant dining experience! (And the special cocktails are inventive and delicious.)
Chicken in both our dishes was not tender and even the rice was stale. Overall negative experience
We always have an amazing experience at Tamarind ❤️ It truly is the best in it’s class !!
It was delicious! Went during restaurant week and will go back again to order off the regular menu. Highly recommend!
I love this restaurant. Please note that we had lunch during restaurant week and so the 5 stars for value was based on a very reduced price: the regular menu is on the expensive side. However, all diners receive the same excellent service and have the pleasure of dining in a truly beautiful and elegant room: there are several areas on different levels. Wait staff is well versed in the make-up of each dish, and patiently explain the ingredients ans spice level. Tamarind is a welcome respite from our challenging lives. I can't wait to go back.
Struck a cord, even with an Indian family where the mother is an uber chef and the father laughs off the idea of paying to eat food that’s made everyday at home! Especially so, when the manager came up saying ‘hope you’re enjoying the food, but we all know it can’t be better than your mom’s home cooking’!
Food is great and service is quick.
They surpassed our expectations! Even the owner came over to say hello!
Lamb was amazingffff
The place is nice and quiet. The staff was very nice. However the food wasn't good. We ordered the Bataki Kosha for our app which was okay but our main dishes where Zameen Doz and Chicken Masala. My husband took one bite of the fish couldn't eat any more. My third piece of the chicken I ate was so chewy, how chicken gets when its cooked still frozen or it's was freezer burned. The cost was 3 times the amount as the place we order in to our apartment and not close to being as good.
Mediocre and irresponsible. I told them about my allergies to bell pepper... went home poisoned by it.
Restaurant week-Some of the food on the prix fix was stale and cold..not appetising
The place felt very authentic. It was a nice experience to be there. Food was outstanding!
Fantastic food. And great pricing for a Michelin Star restaurant.
We are regular diners at Tamarind and would rate it as our favorite Indian restaurant but I have to say that if this visit had been our first time there, it would have been our last!
We had dinner with two friends from the UK and we had really impressed upon them how great it was. We were seated exactly where we wanted to be seated but our server was just so impersonal and grumbled the specials to us with such little interest that I personally was embarrassed in front of our friends. His service was curt with no respect or friendliness at all.
The food was fabulous as always. However, when we paid the bill our server immediately put an additional two chairs at our table indicating they were expecting us to leave right away for them to set up for six. I am not used to being treated this way in restaurants let alone a very expensive and upscale Indian restaurant.
On that basis, I would be very reluctant to go back! What a pity as we had always really loved it in the last.
Food and staff were excellent. We ate early so no others directly beside us, which was nice. Explanation about some of the food was helpful. Great experience. Expensive but worth it.
Great bar and cocktails pre seating. Food was delicious
Amazing good great staff and service
Unique dishes with the spices of India. We had lobster masala and a fabulous Dover sole.
I would highly recommend that anyone who enjoys Indian cuisine have a meal here.
