Tamarind - Tribeca
376 Greenwich st,
New York, NY 10013
Knowledgeable and attentive wait staff, wonderfully flavorful food
Delicious Indian food and a modern, elegant setting is what makes Tamarind such a wonderful dining experience. I went here with friends for dinner and we all enjoyed a delicious meal served by courteous and helpful waitstaff. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a sophisticated meal here in Tribeca, New York.
I've been here a few times in the last few months...the service and staff are great and the food is excellent. I look forward to going back again!
I love Indian Cusine and this is one of the best restaurants for Indian food. The service, the ambience was perfect as always. I recommend it to you
Very attractive space, great service.
A rare combination or great ambiance and exceptionally good cuisine!
This restaurant is always amazing. We try to go every month. The food is delicious and the service is elegant yet relaxed.
Great. Wonderful staff.
It was a birthday celebration, really good ambiance! Decent food, maybe not the best for the price but overall quite different and good. Recommended!
Food was very tasty. Portions were good. The crab starter was absolutely excellent. ... I will say though, the most memorable aspect of this dining experience was our waiter. Unfortunately, I'm gluten free, dairy free, and I try to have very, very little soy. The restaurant knew about this sensitivities ahead of time as they are in my OpenTable profile, so - very responsibly, they called to tell me all of their food is cooked in soy oil, but that they couldn't accommodate. That was unfortunate. I went anyway (didn't get sick!) but it wouldn't make me want to return unfortunately.
We enjoyed the meal very much. We chose (and shared) different dishes. They were all good.
Restaurant week lunch! Honestly, everything here was fantastic. The entire menu was delicious, halibut in coconut milk was my favorite in particular. Lovely place, I’d eat here again.
This dinner reservation was for a birthday but they didn’t even bother to ask us, or try to make it special in any way. We had included that information in the reservation. All other restaurants I’ve been to, at least get you a small desert with a candle etc, to make it special for the patron. But these guys didn’t even try to do that.
Anyway, I still left them a 20% tip because most of the food and drinks were great. They didn’t really try describing the dishes or help with the menu, so I ended up ordering a not-so-good chicken dish. Apart from that particular dish, the food was good.
Impeccable service and delicious food. Will be back
This is an upscale restaurant featuring excellent Indian food in a comfortable contemporary environment. Their Restaurant Week menu was creative and provided ample Portions of very tasty items. "Vinay," our server, was polished and professional while also being pleasant and welcoming. Wonderful experience!
Excellent flavors, ok service. I expected more of the service, but hard to beat the authentic and expert execution on the flavors. If you're looking to tune your palate for you own cooking, highly recommend ordering their daal. It strikes me as the paradigmatic example of what daal should be, the right combination of flavor and texture to aspire to in your own cooking.
First rate Service, fun & imaginative menu that goes far beyond your typical Indian restaurant. The best gourmet Indian food I have experienced in the USA!
The food was okay but what really struck us was the amount charged for it. Way overpriced for what you get. We won’t be returning.
Really the best Indian Restaurant in NYC. Delicious cuisine and excellent service
Was really happy with the variety and freshness of the food
Excellent restaurant week lunch. 3 courses, all delicious. Crab appetizer, halibut and lamb main course & ice cream dessert.
We were a group of 4, and had booked a spot on a Sunday afternoon during NYC restaurant week. One of us was running late, and when we mentioned that we would like to continue without him, the folks at the reception very kindly agreed to extend our reservation for 30minutes, so that all of us could eat together.
We ordered off the NYC restaurant week menu, the chicken was delicious, the crab and halibut were well done, while the lamb was quite dry in the appetizer as well as entree. However, their ice cream was awesome; especially with their signature wafer. We were also offered onion pakodas on the house while we ordered.
On the trivial side, I was sitting without a fork for a long time; my friends finished their pakodas and their plates were cleared, but nobody noticed. We had to call someone and ask for one. Also, unless this was due to it bring the restaurant week and a Sunday, this place is not a fine dining establishment as advertised. There was do much if noise that we had to shout to be heard, just like everyone else. The steward who served us was jovial, but did not speak proper English. And finally, when I returned home in the evening feeling happy and content, I found that the restaurant reported us as having missed our reservation appointment.
Food was excellent, waiter gave some good suggestions on what to eat. Service usually is very good but waiter was hard to find at times. wine glass was empty twice and had to find him to get more from our bottle we purchased.
Execellent upscale ( but not formal or expensive) Indian restaurant! Great ambiance. Food was delicious, and service was outstanding. Our server, Vinay, was absolutely wonderful! He made our experience that much more enjoyable!
Do not hesitate to try this restaurant. Tip: try the Kulfi ( mango ice cream) for dessert—-great way to finish the meal.
Amazing staff, hyper attentive and knowledgeable! Great Indian food and table presentation!
The food was good . Tenake kabab was good. Nan e tamarind was also good . Basmati rice was not that good as the grains were broken
Desert was exceptional. It was white chocolate pistachio mousse.
However service was not that good. We had to wait for the menus for some time . We could see our host attending tables around us but we had to ask for everything. I have visited multiple times and the service was very good . Probably a little disappointed yesterday as it is not as good as the previous times
Great as always. Our mandatory stop every time we are in NYC!!!
We were there for My Mom’s 60th Birthday! And there was no personalized touch or no special type of anything... very disappointed... food was average for the price.
Service and food quality were excellent. Indian food presented at the highest level. Every meal was a treat. When they say spicy beware, it is. Definitely worth a try if you love Indian food or ever wanted to try it.
Very aesthetically pleasing great service and delicious food. Skip a vegetable korma as it was not on the menu but they were willing to prepare...everything else was excellent.
Excellent service and food....never disappoints!
Have enjoyed in the past quite a bit -- it's consistent in terms of food quality. A little slow at the bar when you are seated in being serviced -- not attentive at all. Will be seated late even with a reservation -- ~ 20 mins had to stand around after finishing up at bar to being seated. In terms of dining room experience -- food is good and worth the prices charged -- unfortunately though -- as in this case -- whilst the server is friendly -- the actual delivery of the food was very disjointed -- huge wait in between appetizers being finished and the main meal coming out and being served -- approx 20 mins. Really not acceptable at a place like this. Good food and worthwhile -- if you get good service from the wait staff and co-ordinating timing of appetizers to main dishes solved. Thus as a recommendation -- at this point -- No -- as there are other choices out there that are as good.
PS -- none the less tipped 20% on meal total. Wasn't surprised that around 15 mins after leaving received an email from Opentable saying restaurant had canceled the reservation (good ~ 3 hours after we'd first sat down). I suspect the staff didn't want a negative review. Anyway contacted Opentable explictly so I could get the +100 credit for dining but more importantly leave a review so this area in service and co-ordination hopefully is improved.
Overall -- good food and pricing in line for that quality of the food - service in this instance fell apart quite a bit and nothing was acknowledged that it was an issue -- which if it had been is less of an issue -- as it shows awareness, etc.. Staff in dining area is friendly otherwise.
The place was upscale as expected. The food was also good and well presented. The overall ambience make you feel good. The wine and liquor options were good and so was the bar setting. I have had much better Indian breads but I would not hold back because of this and would recommend this place.
Always a good time. Food is consistently good. Clean place, very helpful staff and very professional.
One of our favorite restaurants! As usual, the food, service, and ambiance were excellent. We love the regular dishes and specials. This is the best Indian restaurant in the city!
The service was great, however we were seated at a table that had some broken glass. The server was attentive to our needs for the most part, I never felt rushed which was great. The food is always excellent! The only downside to my dining experience is that Dinesh D'Souza was also frequenting the venue the same night, which greatly decreased the ambiance in my view.
Overall really good. Overuse of cloves however that really killed the dish.
love this restaurant and will definitely return. Great for any occasion and the service was impeccable.
Great food, nice ambience but service was a little slow although we had a super friendly nice waiter. Dinner with dessert for two adults and three teens was $500.
Fantastic service, food was delicious. We will be back!
