Tamarind - Tribeca Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I were in NYC this past weekend for our anniversary. While there we decided to finally try Tamarind, as my husband has heard for years that this is one of the best spots in NYC for India food. Unfortunately it failed to live up to its buzz.
The entire experience was subpar at best. We selected the duck and crab appetizers and for main course the Seafood platter, Lamb shank as well as the Paneer lababdar. Out of all the dishes we were able to find one shrimp with flavor. The service was not on the level of what you would expect from a fine dining restaurant-we will not be returning.
Tamarind is the quintessential example of good food paired with great service , from the moment you walk in you are greeted with a warm welcome and it doesn’t stop there, hot towels when you seat down, courteous staff , owner and Manager are constantly walking around talking to patrons, a nice touch, overall great experience I will certainly recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful meal and outstanding hospitality. Get your wallet ready it is not cheap.
Absolutely one of the best Indian Food Restaurants my family and I had the pleasure of eating at. Of course we had the go to chicken tikka Masala, tandoori grill, rice and garlic and mushroom naan. We went off menu to get Mutter Paneer as it is my daughters favorite. Very beautiful restaurant, great service and good selection of wine. Definitely go for a celebratory event as it is an exciting high end atmosphere.
The food is not bad but the attention to detail is not there. The food taste institutionalized like they had a good idea then prepared it over and over without love.
If you want elevated Indian food go to Indian Accent for a memorable meal.
A very impressive experience. We arrived about noon on a Saturday. No other diners in restaurant! Very attentive staff. It did get busier later. Started with delicious Bloody Marys and had the special prix fixe menu. The food was outstanding—best Indian food we have experienced! Lamb was tender—flavors complex. The decor is modern, comfortable, clean and elegant. One of our best dining experiences in NY. Will return.
One of my favorite restaurants in NY. And hands down the best Indian I’ve ever had. We eat here every time we come to NY and sometimes twice while we are here. I have taken friends who now considerate one of their favorites. The owner is extremely hospitable and has an amazing staff.
With all the competition in NY we think this is a must! We are proprietors of several restaurants in Florida.
Be back soon!!
If I could give it 6 stars I would. I'm from the UK and I even asked if they would deliver to me.
I eat a lot of Indian food, and there is nothing better than a good curry. This was hands down my favourite curry I've ever eaten.
We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation and we were seated straight away. The waiters were attentive and polite. The food was served quickly. If I had one fault it was that I didn't particularly like the poppadoms, but this is not a deal breaker.
I had the duck rolls for my starter followed by the prawn curry with naan bread. It was the perfect amount of food.
This is one of our favorite restaurants! From the moment you are greeted at the door until you reluctantly leave at the conclusion of your meal, the treatment is special. Everything on the menu is carefully prepared and so delicious. We have never had a bad or even mediocre meal. Service is professional as well as friendly. The space is nicely divided so you do not feel crowded even when it is full. I highly recommend Tamarind!!!
Thanksgiving dinner here with my parents. I’ve been a few times and the food was fantastic each time : ). My parents also were impressed by the taste and quality and they are quite discerning. No hesitations to recommend Tamarind for the high end Indian experience!
