I showed up and it was closed for renovation. I don't know why opentable accepted my res and confirmed it . This is usually a great spot. It didn't need renovation. But I showed up and it was closed.
We have been fans since they were located on 14th Street. We are so sad they are closing for 2 years due to the renovation at Colony Square. We are looking forward to trying their new restaurant in November.
My favorite Thai restaurant, sorry they are closing for a time.
Nice restaurant tat we had pastor by multiple times. Will be returning more often
One of our FAVES!! Been going here for at least 8 years. Love it!!
Food was just okay. Didn't taste authentic, but my food was enjoyable. I had the pad prik king and it had a strong vinegar flavor to it... I actually enjoyed that but it tasted less like the pad prik red curry dish I am used to and more like some other ethnicity's cuisine -- maybe Chinese or Singaporean. The quality if the chicken (white meat) I ate was good.
One person in my party said his chicken was chewy and he did not care for it. The void was not even spicy hot for me -- despite my ordering it five out of four stars (not a mistake... I intentionally order above the star level because I do like it hot and most places cater to the masses that do not handle hot food well)
I also found the food to be expensive for Thai food
Overall the place is okay. I believe the restaurant will be relocating and opening with a new identity soon based on a sign near the door.
Restaurant is a bit bedraggled...we waited at hostess desk for a little bit before being acknowledged. Bathrooms need updating. Food was just ok. Service was fair.
Appetizer was pretty good, entrees were tasty, even if a little too much garlic was used. Service was barely adequate. I think it has the opportunity to be a top notch Thai restaurant, but it needs to increase service and food quality. I doubt I'd go back until I saw a review praising its service.
Crowded and quite loud. Hostess told us at the door that they were backed up and that they might not get our food in time for our theatre time. We ordered just cold appetizers and she made sure we got our food quickly. The food was good. Staff seemed generally overwhelmed and disorganized. The dining room and rest rooms could have been cleaner.
After 20 minutes and prompting from us, the waiter took our order. Couldn't answer questions about the menu. Appetizers arrived and no drinks. After another prompt, we got drinks. Once the food arrived, we never heard from the waiter again until he brought the bill (certainly not because they were busy). Woman, who appeared to a manager, used the excuse that the waiter was new. It's management's fault for not training rather than the waiter's fault.
Now about the food - to call it bland is kind. Thai food should taste like Thai food, spicy and fresh, not mushy like it came from a buffett. Thai food from a mall food court would have been better.
The hostess was more interested in texting someone, with her back to the hostess stand.
Overall horrible experience. Need new management or deep pockets to remain open. I gave it 1 star only because 0 was not an option. This was more than generous.
Great food - served very hot (temperature) and tasty! Our server Nick was great - very attentive but not overly. We enjoyed our food, drinks and conversation.
First time I have been there. The food excellent. Service was good although the restaurant was packed. Seems everyone had the same idea that night. Dinner at Tamarind Seed and walk across the street to see Judy Collins concert.
Best Thai food in Atlanta.
We ate here before a concert at ASO. We were asked if we were going to the show and were paced accordingly. Wine by the glass was very reasonable. The food and presentation were excellent. We enjoyed our evening.
Terrible waiting staff. We spent $300 and it was such robbery. Food was mediocre but the service was some of the worst a city like Atlanta has to offer. The waiter corked the wine and would not give us a new bottle bc it was too expensive
Hands down the best Thai food I have ever had. It's a little pricey, but you get your money's worth. Best Thai tea in midtown!
The food was very good!
Awesome food and good service
Server was unattentive & food was just OK. I would not dine with them again
This restaurant has really declined in the last few years....food was ok but it's just not what is was ...better choices to be made....
The lunch crowd is always busy, so the service was quite slow. However, we opted for an outdoor table and it was beautiful, much quieter than the noisy atmosphere inside, and great people watching. Food was great, as always. Overall good experience.
The Tamarind Seed offers an authentic dining experience!
Food was quite good but service somewhat spotty. Although servers were efficient, they were somewhat aloof. would be nice if the wait staff was friendlier and smiled a little. Spring rolls and calamari were favorites.
The food was as delicious as our first time. Beautifully presented and oh so good!
Great restaurant. Food is consistently good. Staff is warm, friendly and willing to accommodate.
Great for dining before or after an event at High Museum.
Will continue to be one of my favorites! Love the casual atmosphere.
Very reliable, one of my favorite spots. This was the first time the server bought out some hot pepper condiments and they were great!
I decided to go to Tamarind Seed on my Birthday, April 27 2017 since I had never had Thai food and wanted a different experience. My first impression was the look and atmosphere was nice, I felt I was in Hemisphere. The waiter was extremely professional and cooperative in helping me with the menu. I ordered the lamp dish with Steamed rice. I was impressed with the presentation of the dish then I tasted the lamp and it was melt in your mouth wonderful. Two months later in June when a friend decided to meet me for lunch, I suggested Tamarind Seed so I could have the Lamb again. I wanted to try something different but I could not resist having the Lamb again and it was fantastic. My friend had a Shrimp fried rice and she said it was great. We also order two appetizers Chicken screwers with peanut sauce. It too was great. Will go again soon. I want to try the pineapple rice!
Parking is a disaster. Doors locked had to go down to go up. No signs. They need to pay attention and find a solution
We were seated immediately, even though we arrived early. The waitress was helpful when one of us wanted to substitute prawns for the tofu in a dish. We shared 2 orders of the Thai spring rolls which were so good. All our plates were appealing to sight and taste. We enjoyed the jumbo shrimp masala curry, vegetables with prawns substitute and a mixed seafood dish.
We sat outside on the patio and had a delicious, quiet meal. Our server went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and didn't need anything. Food came out quickly and was very fresh!
I constantly had to wave down the waiter for almost everything. They also gave us someone else order.
i live in the building above Tamarind Seed and eat there often. Always great. Always good and very gracious service. The bar is good, too
The food remains quite good, with nice portions. Service can be somewhat hectic, particularly when we want to get to the theatre or symphony. Tamarind is an old standby which satisfies every time.
Thai like we've never had before!! Amazing! Server answered ALL of our QUESTIONS!
Food at this restaurant is some of the best in Atlanta
Tamarind Seed never lets me down. It is a great place for a business lunch by day or a nice evening out with my wife by night. If you are looking for the best Asian food in Atlanta, look no further than Tamarind or Nan. The food is spectacular and the service is spectacular. What more can you ask for. I very rarely review but I have never had a bad meal in the 9-10 years that I have been dining at Tamarind. Consistently excellent means something in all business and is particularly true in dining. Thank you for a consistently great dining experience.
Hostess was not friendly. Put menus on the table and didn't say anything and walked away. The appetizers were cold. The white meat chicken in my dish was tough like it was over cooked.
Very nice place near midtown ATL. Reasonable prices and excellent food. Very good service. Parking is convenient (they validate).
I really enjoy Thai food and Tamarind is one of the better restaurants I have found. The Tom Kai Gai soup was outstanding and will be hard to walk by the restaurant and get some to go....
We told the waitress that we were going to a show and needed to be out quickly. We ordered appetizers right away. After 30 minutes we asked where our appetizers were – and she said we're out of your appetizers . We would've appreciated knowing that right away so that we could order different appetizers. Then we waited another 20 minutes for the food and the service was not good at all.
