Tamarack Junction Steak House Ratings and Reviews
Took a friend to the Tamarack Steak House, her first time, and she was very impressed. The food, service and ambiance was excellent. Our orders for special cocktails were easily met and the wine list complimented out dinners wonderfully. Altogether a memorable dinner!
Awesome service from our server Mika!!!!
The food was fresh and delicious.
I had the chicken with linguine. Great flavors
My Mom had the jumbo prawns with linguine in white wine sauce. Smelled and looked delicious. She enjoyed her dinner.
The bread is made in house. Very fresh and delicious.
Beautiful restaurant without the “stuck up” feeling.
The overall experience is outstanding. We have eaten here several times and always enjoyed the food and wait staff. The only concern we have is that the Maitre d ‘ always seems to have an attitude. He opens wine and it seems as though he is put off by this service. Other than that we love spending anevening at the Steakhouse and have taken friends there as well
Where do I start the entire dinner was great. Our welcoming hostess, Myter who created a wonderful ceasar salad for 2 asked many questions to prepare to guests taste. Anichove or not and how much. Michael , the assist.manager , table side prepared our Steak Diane's and dessert
of Cherries Jubeille. Our waiter Cadone was great and gave very good service.
Came here for the first time for new years eve 2017. It had been recommended by friends. We were treated like kings and the service was great. My wife had the escargot and said it was the best she had ever had. I don't eat that so I have the jumbo prawns. There are 4 huge prawns with cocktail sauce. Big prawns are sometimes tough but there were just short of that and tasted very good. I had the mushroom soup which was great and my wife had a salad which she couldn't finish but was very good. My wife had the special which was scallops and they were magnificent. The cook was perfect with seared tops and bottoms and translucent inside with a good sauce. There were 4 scallops of which we had to bring 2 1/2 home which were good later. I had the regular cut prime rib that came with scalloped potatoes and string beans and mini carrots and also horseradish sauce. If this was the regular cut no one could handle to large cut because it was at least 1 1/4 inch thick and huge. Of course there was fat areas that I cut off. I ordered the medium cook. This chef must error on the rare side so if you want medium order well done. Most of it was tolerable and melted in your mouth. I was so full that I took over 1/2 of it home and it served for a few meals heated up to medium and it was fantastic. Could not have dessert because the portions are so large.
We will go back for sure.
My son and I ordered the steak diane medium rare. The tableside cook/lady over cooked the steak because she was waiting for the plates with the scalloped potatoes and my husband's prime rib. The steaks were medium well with a touch of pink. Flavor was still good. The side vegetables came out a few minutes later as they were not ready, so the presentation of the meal was very poor! We ordered bananas fosters for dessert. Flavor was ok. Bananas should have been more ripe and the sauce more cooked/caramelized. Overall dinner was ok.
My wife and I went to celebrate a great medical outcome. We’ve eaten at the Tamarack multiple times and this time included have always had attentive and professional service coupled with excellent food. We’ve never been disappointed in the steak - I prefer the New York and my wife the filet. This time we tried the crab cake appetizer. It was outstanding and perfect for sharing.
My only negative comment regards the wine list. I know it’s a Carano property but maybe supplement the Ferraro Carano wines with some solid $75 - $100 bottles from over the hill. There are a lot of very nice wines that can support this price point, but sadly none at the Tamarack. Consider bringing your own wine and pay the corkage fee.
That said, still an excellent evening and we’ll be back again.
This is one of our favorite places to dine in Reno. Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown with the best steak you'll find anywhere. The service is always outstanding. The wait staff always makes us feel special. The portions are generous...don't order too many of their amazing appetizers or you won't have room for your delicious steak! If you don't like steak, they have excellent chicken and seafood, too. Arrive early an enjoy a drink in their beautiful lounge with a water wall and fireplace. We love the Tamarack Steak House!
Not impressed. We went there on a date night. The hostess was a bit snarky right off the bat and it took a long time for our waiter and even longer for our food. We had the lobster and crab appetizer and it was the best part of our meals. We waited 20 minutes after placing our appetizer order for it to be served and longer for our waiter to take our order. My date ordered the special described as a prime cut boneless ribeye. It was NOT a great cut of meat. The choice rib eye at Costco is a superior steak and a far better value for the price. I ordered the filet and it cooked as ordered around the outside and far too rare anywhere else. The creme brulee we ordered for dessert tasted like it could have been out of a box. It was gritty...not creamy and lacking a crunchy, sugary top. The truth is, we were not expecting to be overwhelmed with greatness. We were hoping to find a local joint with good food. Overall, neither the food, the service, or the ambience was top level steakhouse. We would have settled for good steaks. We took a gamble on a smaller casino and lost.
If you could go into the restaurant from outside, you wouldn't know it's in a casino. The ambience and service were excellent. The only issue we had, was the filet was cooked to the proper doneness, but was charred so it tasted bitter. They did take it back and brought a new one, but it almost had the same problem. We just trimmed off the char and the steak was ok. Kind of sad for a steakhouse that advertises their 1400 degree broiler. Maybe a little to high? Oh, and the steak was requested to be cooked medium. Will probably give them another try next time.
