Excellent food with great service. Prime rib is excellent with great tasting side dishes. Impressive selection of liquor esp scotch whiskey.

Tam O'Shanter is a great place for prime rib, Yorkshire pudding, creamed spinach and deviled eggs, in a delightfully traditional, Scottish rabbit-warren of well-decorated small rooms. Not a meal your doctor or nutritionist would recommend, but everyone needs a comfort-food splurge every once in a while. The food was delicious. Our waitress was perfectly attentive. We had a wonderful time.

It's a restuartant you should go at least once. It's a must because of the history. The Roasted Chicken was okay. The Salmon was okay. The food, all around, okay. The service all around was very attentive. It's got a cool vibe. The steaks might be good. It's worth a try.

Beautiful themed restaurant. Had no idea it was designed by a 1920s set designer which then inspired Disney when he created Snow White. Good food. Slightly pricey but not too bad. Food quality is like high quality pub food rather than high quality restaurant food.
Only shame was, it was my wife's 40th birthday and I asked ahead of time for SOMETHING (anything at all) to mark the event. They didn't do anything. So a bit sad about that. Otherwise, if you like a bit of fantasy and a bit of a theme to your dining, then look no further. Just remember to ask about the history.

I am never disappointed when I go to Tam O Shanter, it's one of my favorite restaurants for after afternoon shows (Opera or Pantages, for ex.)

The service this time was better than normal - our waitress was very friendly - but the food was worse than usual. The prime rib was was too tough, and with the weak knives they give you, impossible to cut through. The onion rings, while usually crisp and cohesive, were soggy and falling apart. It might be a while before I return.

My family has lived in Atwater Village since 1920 so this place is very special to us. With the exception of myself, my immediate & extended family, now living in the outer suburbs, will continue to patronize this fine restaurant & pub since the Frank / Van de Kamp families established it nearly 100 years ago. I HIGHLY recommend this place but PLEASE make your reservations for special occassions WELL in advanced [e.g Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving, etc.], at least a month before they fill up. Of course, the food is beyond exceptional and you can't beat the cozy ambiance. If you want grandeur, Lawry's on La Cienega will always be there but be prepared to wait for a table & wait for your vehicle from the valet afterwards.

We went for a small family gathering and it was a great experience. It works well with a small group atmosphere and they have a friendly and veteran staff. It is a way to get the Lawry's Prime Rib in a more casual setting. There is also a kid's menu and the place has an interesting history. Hint: Ask the staff about any historical information and they can tell you quite a story. This place also is interesting for lunch as it has a very tasty sandwich bar that includes a great beef sandwich.

I an a VIP members and service was pretty good. I did ask the waitress if I could have the creamed corn, and creamed spinach half and half, and she said no. Not too much of a sacrifice for the restaurant to make to make a customer happy. It has been done before.

Incredible experience. My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary. The entire staff seemed to know as we were greeted by each member of the staff with a "happy anniversary." The service was exceptional from the bartender to the support staff to the server to management. It was the perfect evening. The new shellfish appetizer was amazing as was the filet mignon. Not one complaint only compliments.
I highly recommend the Tam O'Shanter for any occasion.

We were greeted cordially upon our arrival, and we were escorted to our table promptly.
Our relatives live in Hawaii, so our waitress, Sara, gave us the history of Tam O ‘Shanter.
She was friendly, professional and efficient. We had a wonderful dining experience.
Thank you.

The Tam O’Shanter never disappoints! We were immediately greeted by a very pleasant and friendly hostess when we entered the restaurant, making us feel valued and appreciated from the start of our evening. We decided to visit the bar before dinner and the drinks and service were excellent. Then we were seated in a cozy room at the historic Disney table. Great food and service continued. We will return!

It was nice. I met a friend there for lunch. The ambiance is great as always. The lunch menu is a bit limited and we were a bit disappointed in the Welsh Rarebit as the menu said 'Yorkshire Pudding' and it is served over toast. The salad we had wasn't the best. Everything else was great! The fish and chips was good! We'll be back as always. Next time, for dinner, which has more choices on the menu. More vegetarian options would be nice.

I love Tam O’Shanters, we’ve been coming here for years. The food is always good; one of our favorite items to get is the cheese and charcuterie plate. The cheeses have always been on point. However, about a year ago, apparently their ancient deli slicer broke and they have yet to find a replacement part so the charcuterie is no longer offered. I guess the cheese plate isn’t being offered in the main dining room either, only at the bar. It can be requested but when we tried a lot of the cheeses were not available. It was kind of a bummer as we were looking forward to it but it didn’t detract from the overall experience.

Went here based on history/affiliation with Lawry's. But this place's clients have a very different vibe than that elegant place on restaurant row in Beverly Hills. Was surprised to see guests in t-shirts, shorts, etc. Liked the decor. Beautiful country cottage feel outside. Scottish inside. Large scotch selection. Prime rib and trimmings like Lawry's, but not as good. No spinning salad bowl. Service was just perfunctory, not great. Wish I could grade higher but based on my expectations and the price, I can't. Wish they had a dress code but maybe they can't make it if they restrict to a higher end clientele.

Back again! My spouse and I shared the California Cut of the Prime rib with creamed corn, Yorkshire pudding, and the chocolate soufflé for dessert. You just can't go wrong with the prime rib here! See you in a couple weeks Tam for more food, fun and great service!

My siblings and I celebrated our older sister's birthday last Saturday. The brunch offerings were fine and service was good except that the waiter didn't bring my brother's salad until he was almost done with his meal. Ambience is great for "seniors" who prefer a quiet setting, comfortable chairs, and spacious surroundings.

I worked at WDI years ago and I always had the name of this restaurant in the back of my brain because the building was designed by early Imagineers and Walt Disney used to love coming there. it was a real treat to feel like I was experiencing almost exactly what he was enjoying all those years ago. The Scottish decor and uniforms, the imaginative layout and the comfy chairs. I love local history and this place is a treasure. And the food was perfect. Perfect, I tell you!

The Tam is one of the few classic restaurants left in L.A.
They know how to make you feel special.
This last visit was for our 47th wedding anniversary.
It was our first choice.

By the way the food is pretty good also,

Sad to say, Prime Rib was way below par. Dry and almost no flavor. Tasted like it had been sitting in the kitchen for along time before serving. Just totally unsatisfactory!

If you're a prime rib fan, the prime rib and sides are excellent. Souffle is a little heavy, I prefer non chocolate flavor when it's available.
