Christmas-time at the Tam O’Shanter is great! Love the food and the Christmas carolers are a great addition to a fun experience. And the prime rib is delicious!

We love the Tam all year round but especially during the Holidays. It has been a family tradition for years , to go listen to the carolers at Christmas and we're never disappointed!

Great place to celebrate. Only issue is that even though Open Table asked if it was an occasion, and provided a place to indicate so, the occasion was not acknowledged. This being the second time(a different restaurant) having used Open Table and the occasion was not acknowledged.
Why ask if it won’t be honored?

We took the whole family to enjoy the holiday caroling and that part was fun. But the food wasn't cooked correctly. Mom is 91 and on a fairly strict diet in that all meat has to be cooked well done. She ordered a burger medium-well done but it came to the table almost raw (outside brown, inside bright pink). She asked the server if it could be more well done and they happily took it back. 10 minutes later, she was served with a new burger that was just as raw. Frustrated and hungry, she ate her potatoes but was sad that she left the dinner table hungry. Wish there was better QC on what the kitchen puts out! So we stopped at a different restaurant on the way home so she wouldn't be hungry!

We drove 40+ miles to have a wonderful dinner with our family, got there and the restaurant was closed due to a gas leak. I understand the closer but why didn’t they call everyone who had reservations? Got a phone call the day before confirming the reservations and 3 emails for the same thing. Why didn’t they call to cancel? Spent 125.00 on a gift card for no reason. Had to hustle to find another steak house that night for the family. Spent another 125.00 for that meal. Not the time of year to spend the extra $$’s.

Very disappointed been a customer for years and now I don’t think I will be going back because of the bad customer service.

Place is a little pricy but the food is really good. Not somewhere I'd go more than once because if I'm going to spend that much I'm going to try other restaurants I haven't been to. If it was cheaper I'd go their more often since it's good food.

I come here a few times a year when I want a delicious steak cooked as I wish (rare) and to celebrate birthdays and anniversary.
A nice selection of scotch & whiskey from all over, including Japan (some of my favorite).

Never had a bad experience and highly recommend.

Our last minute reservation was taken without a problem and we arrived on time, even with LA traffic. Celebrating our 20th Anniversary and had the best service! Food is delicious as always and perfectly cooked and presented.

We especially enjoy the prime rib dinners, friendly service, ambiance, being a VIP. Where else can you share a CC Brown’s hot fudge sundae 4 ways, enjoy creamed spinach or corn and Yorkshire pudding? Love that Walt Disney has a table here and the live music! This place always makes me feel at home 🍽🌹

We had a reservation (accidentally) for the following day. The hostess was fantastic. We waited in the bar and had cocktails until the main dining room opened. The bar area was loud and lively. When we were seated in the dining room, it was such a wonderful change, as it was much quieter and we could easily carry on conversation. The combo of the lively bar and the quiet dining room was perfect!! And the staff was great, across the board.

Ambiance and service were great. The food.... eh. Okay quality, incredibly tiny portions for the price. We ordered a pair of Thanksgiving specials and were given the smallest possible amount of food you can be given before a meal has to be described as a snack. Picture a full-size dinner plate that was 2/3 empty and contained a miniatured turkey dinner in the center. It was the first time I've gone out to eat on Thanksgiving and left still hungry.

Christmas decorations were very nice and homey. However, I ordered haggis as an appetizer and the restaurant was out of It and could not honor my request. It was only 7:00 p.m. Why put an item on the menu if it is known to run out. A specialty item? Yes. A special occasion item? Perhaps, unless the item is the reason for the special occasion, like Robert Burns birthday. But a menu item? Never.

Tam O'Shanter is a great place for prime rib, Yorkshire pudding, creamed spinach and deviled eggs, in a delightfully traditional, Scottish rabbit-warren of well-decorated small rooms. Not a meal your doctor or nutritionist would recommend, but everyone needs a comfort-food splurge every once in a while. The food was delicious. Our waitress was perfectly attentive. We had a wonderful time.

It's a restuartant you should go at least once. It's a must because of the history. The Roasted Chicken was okay. The Salmon was okay. The food, all around, okay. The service all around was very attentive. It's got a cool vibe. The steaks might be good. It's worth a try.

Beautiful themed restaurant. Had no idea it was designed by a 1920s set designer which then inspired Disney when he created Snow White. Good food. Slightly pricey but not too bad. Food quality is like high quality pub food rather than high quality restaurant food.
Only shame was, it was my wife's 40th birthday and I asked ahead of time for SOMETHING (anything at all) to mark the event. They didn't do anything. So a bit sad about that. Otherwise, if you like a bit of fantasy and a bit of a theme to your dining, then look no further. Just remember to ask about the history.

The service this time was better than normal - our waitress was very friendly - but the food was worse than usual. The prime rib was was too tough, and with the weak knives they give you, impossible to cut through. The onion rings, while usually crisp and cohesive, were soggy and falling apart. It might be a while before I return.

My family has lived in Atwater Village since 1920 so this place is very special to us. With the exception of myself, my immediate & extended family, now living in the outer suburbs, will continue to patronize this fine restaurant & pub since the Frank / Van de Kamp families established it nearly 100 years ago. I HIGHLY recommend this place but PLEASE make your reservations for special occassions WELL in advanced [e.g Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving, etc.], at least a month before they fill up. Of course, the food is beyond exceptional and you can't beat the cozy ambiance. If you want grandeur, Lawry's on La Cienega will always be there but be prepared to wait for a table & wait for your vehicle from the valet afterwards.

We went for a small family gathering and it was a great experience. It works well with a small group atmosphere and they have a friendly and veteran staff. It is a way to get the Lawry's Prime Rib in a more casual setting. There is also a kid's menu and the place has an interesting history. Hint: Ask the staff about any historical information and they can tell you quite a story. This place also is interesting for lunch as it has a very tasty sandwich bar that includes a great beef sandwich.

I an a VIP members and service was pretty good. I did ask the waitress if I could have the creamed corn, and creamed spinach half and half, and she said no. Not too much of a sacrifice for the restaurant to make to make a customer happy. It has been done before.

Incredible experience. My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary. The entire staff seemed to know as we were greeted by each member of the staff with a "happy anniversary." The service was exceptional from the bartender to the support staff to the server to management. It was the perfect evening. The new shellfish appetizer was amazing as was the filet mignon. Not one complaint only compliments.
I highly recommend the Tam O'Shanter for any occasion.

Our relatives live in Hawaii, so our waitress, Sara, gave us the history of Tam O ‘Shanter.
She was friendly, professional and efficient. We had a wonderful dining experience.
