I used to go there as a teenager. It hasn’t changed, food, service, and the restaurant hasn’t changed a bit.
Great restaurant with a ton of history. Portions are huge. The food came out quickly and was delicious. Our server was Robin, she was fantastic and made our birthday celebration special.
Wonderful as always.
Have been going there for a long time. Much prefer going there than Lawry's. Never been disappointed with the service and food!
Prime rib was disappointing. Better potion control at Lawrys in bev hills. Waiter was non existent, even though we were right next to service area/station. Should have eaten in bar as bartenders were great. Probably last time I’ll ever go back to the Tam.
Ricky the bartender was on spot. Food was pretty good and our server was really knowledgeable.
Very nice as usual
The prime rib was fantastic and service was exceptional. Old world ambience and lighting. Even though the restaurant was full the noise level was low enough for conversation, probably because of carpet on the floors.
The Tam is always a magical place.
I mentioned it was for a birthday dinner but nothing was presented at the dinner. No small candles nor small cake.
We were always have great experiences but this time it was not but we made the best of it.
Rudest host and manager I have ever experienced at a restaurant. Low quality service.
The lobster was done to perfection and the onion rings and wedge salad were excellent. The prime rib done medium rare was a little tough at the bone. This was the second time someone in my party mentioned this shortfall.
Our table needed a little repair. It is nice to see improvements going on outside but some of the larger group tables need care.
Best prime rib! Wonderful flavor! Chocolate soufflé also a favorite.
Awful service. No refills on drinks were given. We tried to get attention even with the busser, but avoided eye contact. No recommendations from the server being that it was our first time there. Server was not notified that we were celebrating a birthday so we had to let her know after she gave us the check. Upon making the reservation on open table, I specifically noted that we were celebrating a birthday. It was really a terrible experience. Water refill came after the check has been given to us.

It's always a wonderful experience at the Tam O'Shanter. Exceptional food, and the decor makes you feel like you just stepped off into another world.
The food was tasty and a great value as well. As a Disney fan, I especially enjoyed a photo opportunity at Walt Disney's table.
Fantastic as always, worth the drive from Orange County to Glendale. Love the atmosphere, building and decor. Unparalleled selection of whiskeys with knowledgeable bartenders.
Venerable for a reason - terrific prime rib and Scottish classic food. Our group shared chocolate souffle and it was delicious. We also enjoyed the drinks including the Table 33.
Good service. Food was okay. Luke warm.
My friend and I have been wanting to go here for years and we finally made it! So much fun! The atmosphere is amazing, food is delicious and service is unforgettable!
Asked for a booth and it was not honored even though there were quite a few available.
We have been going to the Tam for 50+ years, and now for the third time in a row my family and I were EXTREMELY disappointed. The service was slow, although the wine steward was great our waitress did not even address us for 20min and even then dissappeared often. In addtion, for the third time now, they were magically out of the chocolate souflete this time at 630 on a Saterday!!!!! We specifically went earlier so that this would not happen as this iconic desert in the main reason for going. All our waitress could tell us was "Oh thay have been making less and less of them" ... Given this is a third experience with overall poor service and being out of a key item we probably won't go back. SAD. This place has great history and great memories for us but there is much better food in LA for the money and if they are going to manage the place poorly I wont wast any more here, glad we used all our points!
Glad we went and tried it out but won't be coming back. The place is quaint and old which is cool if that's the vibe you're looking for. The food is meh and expensive for what it is. Our server was kind of quiet and not personable but that seemed to just be his personality and other servers were cheerful and helpful.
Enjoyed dinner with grandparents especially because they accommodated our request for a very quiet table. Outstanding service & ambience and one of LA's most classic menus! Our family has been coming here for 60 years. *They're adding an outdoor patio in summer 2018, can't wait!!
I have ALWAYS loved the Tam. Been going there since I was a kid, and not once have I ever had a bad experience (well, one night after drinking there, but that wasn't their fault). Whether it's been for Family, Business, or a Date, it has always been a great experience. I would recommend the Tam to everyone (Try the Organic Chicken, it is awesome).
A fun LA Landmark, always a good spot to go with friends. Live music this time of year Saturday nights.
Very delicious and charming location. We had a great meal, great service, and enjoyed the history as well.
I've been coming to the Tam since 1980 and still love its 'old school' ambiance - such a nice dining pleasure as a departure from our modern world of fast....cellphone-driven....foodie experiences. A wonderful place for inter-generational meals and memories.
The prime rib is always great. The souffle is the best around. Other food we don't usually order, since they don't really stand out.
As always, good food. Tried the simple roasted chicken and it was great! Companion had the trout and it was wonderful. Will be back of course and will seriously consider more than the prime rib (which is always exceptional).
I love old restaurants here in L.A. and had been wanting to try Tam O'Shanter since we moved to the area. I do love the history and it is quite charming. The food is fine, not spectacular for the price. I have been to Lawry's countless times over the years and the food is leaps and bounds better for not that much more money.
Our waiter was wonderful and we had a good time. I'd like to return for a more simple meal, a burger or Happy Hour. For fine dining, this is not the best, but glad I went.
Quality has gone way down. Prime rib Tam o Shanter cur was dry. Will not Go there again.
I was disappointed because the waitress was good but it took way to long to get served. The portions of the side dishes, mushrooms were small for $9 and the Mac and cheese side dish left me trying to find the cheese. We did order fish and chips and you should not order that at Tam O Shanter since the fish was average and the frys were small and not as good as Mc Donalds.
Over we were disappointed and probably won't go back. They are living off of their history since 1922 but the food offering assortment was from that time.
Fabulous spot for "old school" hearty meal. Prime rib and trimmings (yorkshire pudding, creamed corned, creamed spinach, and horseradish sauce) can't be beat. The chocolate souffle is a must for dessert, served hot from the oven with fresh whipped cream. I'm sure other options are also good, but I've never been able to pass on the prime rib and chocolate souffle.
My husband and I went here to celebrate St. Patty’s day. We arrived earlier than our reservation so we headed to the bar for a drink and with 24+ people waiting at the bar to order , there were only 2 bartenders working. Next we were given a seating earlier than our reservation time which was great. Sarah, our waitress took our order but neglected to tell my husband who ordered a toad in the hole that his entree came with a salad so he might not want to order the wedge salad as a starter. His filet was as tough as shoeleather so it went into a take home container for the dog. I ordered the corn beef and cabbage. The corn beef was not seasoned and was sliced thinner than we were used to so it also went in the take home container. The brown anise tasting bread and white bread were both fresh and tasty. The carrots and potatoes were undercooked. Only the cabbage was tender but also tasteless. Needless to say we will not be back.
It was St. Patrick’s Day and what better place to celebrate...we thought. Website said live music and Celtic dancers- well, there was a tent in the parking lot and a line down the street.
We thought entertainment would be inside the restaurant along with a Lawry’s dinner.
It’s a holiday I get it- crazy, and our expectations were fairly low because it was a holiday. The food was horrible. The was no entertaining for diners spending $$ I felt bad for the staff who were trying so hard.
It’s a landmark kind of place- no need to ever return
The 1st time we went to Tam O'Shanter it was a regular non-holiday dinner and everything was great, the menu was varied, service was wonderful, the atmosphere was relaxing. The only negative was there was no parking. Last St Patrick's Day we attempted to get a dinner reservation, but they were booked up. We stopped at the festivities at the back, but it was crowded, congested, long lines for everything so we left. This year we made a dinner reservation well in advanced. It took an eternity to find parking. Our server was friendly & helpful, but it was not the best dining experience. The menu was edited for the holiday, and my favorite items were not listed. The dinner I received was not great. Little things like water re-fills did not happen due to the crowdedness. Also, it was about a 20 minute wait to use the restroom, also due to the holiday crowd. I would highly recommend Tam O'Shanter...on a NON-HOLIDAY!
We go to the Tam every year on St. Patrick's (or thereabouts). As always, fantastic food and service - we love the Tam!
Parking was a pain (St Patrick Day non dining event was going on), but otherwise a great experience.
