Delighting diners for over eight decades, the Tam O'Shanter is Los Angeles' oldest restaurant operated by the same family in the same location. Enjoy fine food and old world atmosphere of this cozy Tudor inn.View Private Dining Details
Waiter messed up my drink, and the soup was cold no other options
Always a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Charming atmosphere and wonderful food.
Great restaurant with a super cute north English/Scottish decor. Great food in Atwater Village from he owners of Lawry’s. Highly recommend.
Server was great!
Had a great time, good food, good service and enjoyed it
Ambiance was not as good as Lawry's but the meat was just as good!
Hi mommies! If you like prime rib then you’ll love Tam O Shanter. We ate everything including our napkins . Try it out!
We've been here many times for dinner and the food is always very good. The prime rib is the thing to order, and they have a very nice chocolate souffle for dessert. The service is usually very good and it's an iconic setting.
ALWAYS GREAT FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE. MUST TRY OUTDOR PATIO WHEN WEATHER COOLS ABIT.
Excellent restaurant. Pricey. Great food. Been coming here for decades. Always predictably good.
The Tam O'Shanter is truly an old classic. The ambiance is what you'd expect, the service is great and the food is what I would consider along the lines of comfort food. The only reason I gave it mediocre ratings is that the evening we were there, the power went out. If you've ever dined here, and know the setup, you realize we were sitting in complete darkness -- though cell phones were being fired up as makeshift candles. We had received our drinks and appetizers when management came by and said we could stay as long as we wanted and enjoy what we had received (on the house) as their kitchen was completely shut down and they were unable to prepare any additional meals. People were leaving, and the restaurant as was getting hot -- OK, more like sweltering. So, if you like more of an old-world vibe that serves great comfort food, I would definitely recommend, though personally, I think I'll save my next visit during the fall or winter months.
Simply put. A good all around prime rib place. Good ambience. Good food. Good service. Always consistent. Part of the Lawrys chain. Here there’s no wait and you can make a reservation, unlike Lawrys in Beverly Hills... unless they changed their policy. Also they have outstanding chocolate soufflés!!!!
The Tam O' Shanter has always been a favorite of mine and my fiancee not only because of the delicious food and history, but because Walt Disney used to dine here on an almost daily basis. We're huge vintage Disney fans and got to sit at Table 31, Walt's preferred table. Our waitress, Jill, was wonderful and super attentive. She definitely made our anniversary a special night! I highly recommend the Tam to anyone local or visiting L.A. for the first time!
Our weekday dinner party was a lot of fun and great food and ambiance made the event a success.
The Tam is one of the best Prime Rib houses I've had the pleasure to try. Absolutely amazing environment/theme. Great staff, great drinks. Highly recommended.
Managed to take advantage of the Starlite dinner for two with friends on the new patio for the second time before the promo ended. Yay!!
The salad was refreshing, prime ribs were perfectly prepared, and choice of CC Brown mini hot fudge sundae or traditional English trifle hit the spot. All served in the patio with a balmy LA evening breeze swirling around. PERFECT!
I love this place. The staff, from valet to busser, to wait staff, all friendly. The food is delish. The service wonderful.
51 $ for a new York stake is way too much.Very poor meat. Will not go back
While I have been here several times before- the Prime Rib that I had was tough, and substandard in my book. The Yorkshire Pudding remains the best thing about the place, authentic and tasty. The service and serving staff were impeccable, but when you are paying $40+ for a dinner, you expect the cut that they serve you to be well chosen, at the least!
Stopped here for dinner before attending the Smokey Robinson concert at the Greek Theater. The service is impeccable and the food delicious. This is the oldest restaurant in Los Angeles. You can still find Walt Disney and the Imagineers table in the corner complete with etchings left on the wooden table. Highly recommend. Be sure to peruse their "Wall of Whiskey". They have quite the collection.
Next time I'll try sitting on their new, outdoor seating area...
Always love this place. A tad on the pricey side but it’s so good.
The food was excellent. However, we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated, after arriving 10 minutes early and were initially seated inside when the reservation specified outdoor dining because the special menu we were seeking was only available outside.
During summer afternoons there is inadequate shade available for all of the tables. This problem placed the hosts, hostesses and waiters in an awkward position of trying to trade umbrellas between tables - not a good situation on hot sunny afternoons (which are only just beginning for this area of LA).
Filet Mignon was not fresh and was over cooked.
I have been visiting the Tam O'Shanter for more than 50 years. The food is still outstanding and the service is excellent.
Food was pretty good... but the service was pretty terrible. I think the waitress forgot about our table.
After we got our prime rib, she never came to check on us. Usually this wouldn’t be a problem but she forgot the horseradish sauce and took my drink for a refill. We finally flagged someone down after waiting 10 minutes.
Took a friend to the Tam for her birthday. We all shared a meal of the special of the night (New York Steak with bordelaise, parmesan mashed potatoes) and a side of Mac n Cheese. Overall a fantastic way to celebrate!
My wife and I no longer live in the neighborhood but from time to time we plan special occasions at Tam O'Shanter. It's worth the drive for us. We love Tam O'Shanter. The staff is fun and helpful and the food is always delicious.
Delicious as usual.
Having grown up with the Great Scot, it will take quite a bit for me to get used to the reno'd and re-logo'd Tam. I think it's probably a good idea to lose the old boys' club feel, but I kind of miss it too.
Great place for prime rib.
Tam O’Shanter hits ya with a double whammy of time-machine ambience and majorly comforting comfort food. Friendly service sealed the deal for a return visit soon.
We've wanted to try the Tam O'Shanter for years but this was the first time. It was great. The restaurant was really cool and eclectic and the food and service were great. I'm not typically a prime rib fan but this was excellent. Also loved with Welsh Rarebit and the chocolate souffle.
We were celebrating Fathers Day. From the moment our waiter approached our table he was unfriendly and inattentive. He was blatantly rude when we asked about the chocolates soufflé snapping back at us “we’re not serving that tonight” as he turned his back and walked away. It took so long for our food to reach our table that our fillet mignon were dry and dull as if under the warming lights too long. The food was tasty but overdone. Overall it was fine. Our waiters attitude became a joke and made us laugh but we will not rush to go back.
Went for prime rib on Fathers Day. Food and services were excellent
We celebrated Father's Day there it was a very nice evening with great food and fun surroundings, always festive whatever the season is! Jennifer, our server, was friendly and sweet and super accommodating. I highly recommend this place anytime of year.
Nice Fathers Day Brunch
The guy who first approached was probably in training. When we asked for a children’s menu, he was very abrupt and curt in saying there is no children’s menu. He was rescued by the experienced waiter who told us that there is a menu for children and he was very courteous. Pls supervise your in training waiters. They could be a turn-off.
We love what you have done to the outdoor. The landscaping is lovely and the outdoor patio seating was very nice.
I miss the fish and chip. It was not included in the lunch menu?
All in all, we enjoyed our time @ The Tam and will go back again.
I have been a loyal Tam customer for over 25 years.
I helped celebrate the 75th anniversary by showing
my old Model A Ford most of that day with the Jewel
City Model A Ford club.
Best service in all of Los Feliz for sure
