We had an absolutely wonderful time. Beautiful Christmas decor, great carollers, and outstanding food and service. We look forward to our next visit!
Came for our annual carolers tradition. However, so many tables were packed in we were hitting chairs with the tables around us. Extremely loud to the point we could barely hear the carolers. Our server was nice (why she gets a 5) but had too many tables so service was slow. May not go back next year.😢
French Onion soup was not as hot as it should have been. I had a small chip of ceramic material in my soup that I initially thought was a chipped tooth. Waitress, an enthusiastic woman, did not pay attention to request to only serve whipped horseradish. Food was very good. Prime rib meal with an appetizer is getting more pricey which translates to fewer return trips to the Tam.
A truly pleasant atmosphere where excellent food is served.
An unforgettable experience!
Our guests were very pleased.
We love the decorations and the carolers. But the food quality and service have gone downhill the past couple years. And now, unfortunately, it really isn’t worth going there unless you love the Christmas decorations and the carolers. I’m disappointed, as this was my favorite restaurant for years.
My family and I dine at the Tam every December. It is a holiday tradition we look forward to. This year as well as last year we were disappointed that the restaurant was out of filet mignon steaks. Four people at our table were looking forward to ordering that entre. Very disappointing! Everything else was lovely.
Always fun to attend during the holidays, however, running out of menu items at 7:30 for dinner was very disappointing. As we sat down our server advised us the chocolate souffle and filet mignon was not available.....ouch !
Wish I would have known the carolers were not there at lunch time. But I’ll live! Great place
We come every year when the carolers are there and enjoy it every time!!
The Tam O'Shanter is so good it will make you think that declaring independence from England was a mistake.
I love going to Tam's during December month. The Carolers and the servers was very festive on a Saturday in early December. My hubby and I came with our friends fir annual dinner here. We arrived early but other half arrived late so luckily the hostess was accommodating. THis time we sat in a different room with the bar. Our waiter Grayson was friendly and cheerful. The menu had new items besides the prime rib, such as fIlet mignon. I was about to change my mind and decided on California cut with mash potato w/gravy, cream corn, popover and complementary free slices of bread, and proffer soufflé. Our appetizers arrived Brie and devil eggs. Both were delicious and bread was soft. Then our entree arrived and California cut was medium snd tender. Everything was delicious. Before entrees arrived, first set of carolers arrived and we stayed after we paid for second carolers ( much better in singing).
FYI, Lawry's membership had enough points for free dessert.
Best to make reservations 90 days for table in December
5 stars for service and excellent food and carolers
2 stars-valet misplaced hubby's car keys and waited fir 20 min for donei d to find the keys. No tip and never apologized. (First time fir missing keys)
The Christmas spirit was in full swing at the Tam, the Christmas Carolers were singing table side. A nice touch to start the holiday season. As always, the prime rib was delicious and prepared to perfection. We enjoyed the chocolate soufflé!
Reservations were at 4:45 - 3 of us arrived about 4:35 - Front would not seat us until all 5 arrived or 4:45 time. WHY? Lobby area was crowded - One of our group is 92 - Not very hospital. Server was outstanding - Food very good - Carolers added nice atmosphere.
My sons 37th Birthday. I couldn’t of had a better dining experience. Robin was our server and she made my family feel right at home. Nacho assisted throughout the meal and was very personable.
I believe we have found a new Holiday tradition. Excellent time.
My husband’s birthday lunch. Couldn’t get dinner reservations.
Everything was great as usual.
Great place for holiday cheer!
Service was excellent. Prime rib is as good as always. Yorkshire pudding wasn’t as good as I remembered though. Drinks were good. Bar was slow.
Server named Jen from Indianapolis was super as was the vocal quartet.
It is not the Tam it used to be, but the prime rib is still excellent . They must have changed the recipe of the sticky toffee pudding which is supposed to be a dense cake with bits of dates but this light airy cake was just that, disappointing and boring. The ambiance is always nice in December with their pretty lighted decorations and Dickens carolers singing table to table. But equally as fun are the pub bands they have throughout the year. It was a busy night I attended but the wait staff have seriously gone down hill from the old days. Trying to get the waitress to return to order additional drinks has been an increasing problem both in the pub and in the dining area. However, you can always rely on the bus staff to clean up the tables and be courteous and helpful.
We were seated right on time; the meal came quicker than expected and was just as delicious as remembered from our childhood thru adult visits. The place is as charming as all get out even before all the holiday decorations were added. If that wasn't enough, the strolling quartet of singers were wonderful. You absolutely made my mother's hometown visit!
I have been going here since it was The Great Scot. Consistently good food at s fair price, lovely historic ambiance. Their chef if many years retired and the food started going downhill. It seems to have become an over-priced tourist destination, it's very sad.
It still looks good (although too 'staged')
but the soul seems have been removed.
Chalk it up to progress I guess.
The Tam was fantastic as always. The ambiance, food and especially the Christmas Carolers were all so great!
Delicious as always! Love going there during the Christmas Holiday love the caroling! And of course the Prime Rib is always on point
This place is losjng it’s shine. We go every Christmas season and it’s always lovely, but this time was a *serious* mess. The hosts were sloppily dressed and rude— we had a reservation and were the only people in the waiting area but they took nearly 10 minutes to seat us, and basically ignored us the whole time despite having two kids who were hard to miss.
Then we tried to order a soufflé for dessert and they were out because the chef no-showed? Then the manager hastily announced they had no idea where the carrollers were, they were an hour late (they eventually showed). Then the bartender started loudly complaining, while swearing, that she was standing in a pool of water (she later apologized because she was told we complained? We hadn’t. Weird drama we didn’t need to hear).
Then a big group came in and our server was mostly MIA. They did cover two drinks as an apology but it wasn’t worth the $100 bucks we spent. It was more stressful than fun. I get that place have off nights, but this was a pile of messes that the customer should have never been aware of.
I really enjoyed my recent visit to Tam O'Shanter this December. The holiday decor and the carolers made it so fun and got my friend and I in the holiday spirit. The food was very good and the staff was very friendly. We had a less eager server, but I give her the benefit of the doubt that she was new. No matter, the whole experience left my friend and I wanting to return soon. I also have recommended this place to other friends. We are already talking about getting a small group to go before the holidays are over.
Compared to other Lawry's restaurants this one is a bit odd with the layout. It had different side rooms and nooks/crannies. You were either cramped into a cubby or out in the wide open. Seating could have been arranged a bit better. Had the onion soup and the cauliflower soup, both of which were great. We also had the California Cut, which was good and tasted as expected. The salmon was a bit on the overdone side and the Toad and the Hole was tasty but need more sauce for the Yorkshire pudding. Server was friendly and stayed at a distance. Had eaten during the holiday season so there were carolers singing throughout the restaurant which was a nice touch.
Holiday cheer! The carolers are the best!
Delicious and tender Prince Charlie's cut with a broiled freshwater lobster tail. Great, crusty bread and an individual Scottish Trifle for dessert. Attentive server.
Good experience overall. Cute place and food was good. Has a kids menu
The soup, fish & chips and dessert really hit the spot for me and my spouse. We always enjoy coming here...
This is such a charming place. Already decorated for holidays and has a warm and welcoming ambience. Service was very good - friendly and attentive. Food is solid and good. We had corn beef hash with poached eggs and the hash has that good homemade flavor. Just a nice place to go for warmth and comfort food.
As always the Tam is a wonderful place to spend thanksgiving. The service is top shelf and the food never disappoints.
The food was less than stellar Small portions and bland and was very disappointing. We were there for Thanksgiving for a change of scenery The ambiance was ok but I was shocked at the food and the way it was served The waitress was very nice but I felt like I was in an assembly line Won’t return
The entire meal is impeccable except service was way off. Last year they ran out of a lot of items but this year nothing was 86’ed and the prime rib was simply sinfully delicious. Turkey was moist and stuffing this year was award winning! Everyone did a fabulous job in the kitchen. The host team was so sweet to seat us earlier than our reservation so we were extremely thankful! The only issue was the service which is clearly odd because they usually have amazing service. She was way too busy to tend to us, possibly too large of a station in the bar. I ordered iced tea and never received it and was charge for it? She didn’t know the menu well and I asked for no crouton on my wee salad and she said it came without them but it’s clearly on the menu description. We left 20% because it was a holiday, but for the amount we spent you’d think service would be just as good as the food! Felt disappointed.
Disappointing Thanksgiving; out of everything; much lower in quality than previously experienced; really a big let down.
As always a wonderful experience!
Great place and service.
Stopped in for luch over the years. First time for dinner, it was my wife's birthday. She was going to order filet but everyone else (6 of us) went for the prime rib. She changed her mind, and had not regrets. Service was very good, the prime rib was excellent. The sides could've been warmer. Everything else, great.
Fantastic as always!
The food, the staff and ambiance is perfect!
