Always a good time with excellent food at Tam. Looking forward to my next visit.
Went to grab dinner before concert at Dodger Stadium.
Atmosphere is one of the best in town.
Food is phenomenal...love That Leary’s prime rib is there.
Great service as always.
Been loyal customers for many many years and love to see it doing so well.
The food and service was awesome! The decor fit right in for the type of restaurant. I would suggest a little more room at the tables in the far room by the wall. Can be a tight fit. We will be back!
We think the Tam is so nostalgic and brought our daughters and my mom for a 17th Birthday celebration. It didn’t disappoint.
We usually go,there on,our Anniversary. Due to being out of town we missed the last two years. We were surprised at how must the cost has gone up and how the serving sizes have gone down. Even though it was our 41st anniversary we did not feel special.
Always good food and service here. Our server, Yo, provided an even higher level of service than normal for this outstanding restaurant.
I always take my mom here for her birthday. My family has been patronizing this establishment for decades; we always go there for birthdays and special occasions. We always start with the rarebit. Always go with the prime rib, and since I don’t go often, I get the Prince Charlie cut. For dessert, you can’t beat the soufflé. The service is excellent, the waitstaff is very attentive and friendly. Overall, the Tam is a great restaurant that I’d recommend, especially for a special occasion.
We had a charming experience dining at Tam O'Shanter. It felt like dining in a traditional times with waitresses dressed in Scottish outfits and some tables with olden day looking chairs. Food was well prepared and delicious. Our party ordered Lawry's famous prime rib, roasted jidori chicken, fish and chips and Tam O'Shanter burger. Each piece of meat was really nicely cooked. Medium rare and medium prime ribs were tender and flavorful. Roasted chicken was a little but salty, but so tender (not dry at all)! Fish was nicely crisp and tender. Overall, a little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. Our server was excellent - attentive, friendly and just overall made our whole experience memorable - this was the first visit for most members of the party.
It was a great experience, we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary . Got married at the
five Crowns Restaurant
Foods are too salty and the prime ribs are too dry and not juicy at all. Overall we are disappointed with the experience there
My husband has been coming to this restaurant he was my husband has been coming to this restaurant he was five years old five years old with his grandfather (he is now 58). We have come multiple times and have always happy with both the service and the meal. This occasion was a surprising disappointment. The table was splitting two dining rooms and was inconvenient for both ourselves, the servers, and patrons going to and from their tables. My toad in the hole was without complaint, however, my husband ordered with Tam Cut prime rib (medium rare-rare) which was 1/4 inch thick and cooked medium rare-medium. The server kindly sent it back upon our request. Still and yet, for a $48 plate, one would think that someone would have stood at QC to make sure the meals being served were representative of what was ordered. Our cocktails were a wait if 10-15 minutes. This experience has made us question if we would ever return to a restaurant that previously had been held in high regard. I felt it important to share our concerns in the hopes that this iconic landmark would not go the way of many that rests on their past laurels.
First time I had the fish and chips. It was very good. The prime rib was up to standard. Everytime we went to Tam O'Shanter. We never have the same server. The bus person are the same.
Always enjoy visiting the Tam. Getting a little more pricey; but understand why.
Have been loyal guests at the Tam O’Shanter (even during the Great Scot days) for over 40 years. That says it all.
This place is amazing! I ordered the smaller prime rib and I was sad. Next time it will be the bigger cut. So delicious! Staff was attentive and helpful. Atmosphere is fun. We were a family group so we were in the back where it was quieter but if you are out near the bar etc it’s lively and fun. Get the prime rib! And order the chocolate soufflé!
Server, Yo, was very good. Just attentive enough to make us feel "paid attention to" but no so much that we couldn't find her when we needed something. Also they always kept our water glasses full.
Always a pleasure.
They are known for their prime rib. Boy were we surprised when our Medium prime rib came out well done. When we sent it back we asked for medium, and we got back raw! Ended up sending back again and got the same piece of meat well done again. At 50 bucks a plate I expect to get excellent food. They ended up comping the desserts $18 buck, but the meal was a cool 400 bucks....so $18 bucks is not much for a terrible meal and experience.
The remodel looks great, but the remodel in the kitchen....not so good. I’d hire back the old chefs stat!
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday, specifically for the prime rib. We arrived early for our reservation, but they were able to seat us right away, and accommodated us when we asked to change our location. Our waitress was informative, friendly and fun. The food was incredible, we both had prime rib, he had the Prince Charlie cut with creamed spinach and I had the California cut with creamed corn. We were both incredibly happy with it, everything was perfect, and his birthday trifle was delicious. We are definitely coming back here soon, this was a meal to be remembered!
Seating went well. Our party of 4 was on time and we immediately seated. Our female server was very friendly and helpful. The older male bus boy? rushed us and on two occasions he removed food we were still working on without asking and we did not notice he did it. The food itself was what was expected. It was very good and ample. The ambiance itself was better than the last time I was there (8-10 years). All in all, we had a better good time except for the feeling of being rushed.
Although I would recommend the Tam to a friend, my wife's and my experience was just so so. My wife's fish and chips looked like it was dipped into batter lightly and cooked quickly. My steak was cooked medium instead of medium rare like I had asked for it to be done. The service was ok but not outstanding like it usually is. Our waiter seemed less than enthusiastic about serving us. But overall my wife and I enjoyed ourselves.
My first visit in over 25 years. The place still delivers great food, service, and ambiance. I actually dove off the freeway to avoid sitting in traffic any longer, and it hit me where I was and after a quick search on my phone I was surprised they were still there. The server was excellent, and she shared some old stories about the history of the old landmark. So glad I went I will definitely return soon.
The service was top notch. We got there early and waited on the beautiful patio with appetizers and drinks. The waiters were wonderfully attentive. When we were moved indoors for dinner we were seated at the Walt Disney table. It has quite a story. Food and service, one again were great!
Wonderful place!! I love every detail. Food, ambience and service
Of all the Lawry’s restaurants this has the lowest food and overall service quality. It has deteriorated on these dining qualities.
So good! We loved the histoey behind this restaurant as well. Definately a must do if you can!
The service was good. The Steak and eggs are excellent. The steak was very tender and juicy. We was sat in the bar and the noise level was a little too much until we watch the Female World Cup. The noise was OK when we watch the game we liked.
Tam is an enjoyable experience. Good food, environment, and service. We selected a special dinner for two that included wine, soup/sald/maindish, and desert fo $129. I am slow and the corses were presented exactly on my schedule. Was a great way o celebrate our anerversity.
Always can count on the prime rib to be tender. Lobster was prepared perfectly.
Too bad, the French onion soap was serve warm, not hot; we ate at 5:30 pm. Yorkshire pudding was one of the best.
The steaks were fantastic and the service could have been better but it was Father's day and quiet busy. (Drink orders were never taken other then water for the table - we all would have ordered a drink)
The prime rib was delicious. It is the best I’ve had in a long time.
We were there on Father’s Day and the only disappointment is that they do not serve there fabulous chocolate soufflé...this restaurant never fails to impress with the quality and service. We will always return for another meal!
Would not have made reservations if i knew that Soufflé and French Onion soup were not available for Father's Day. Dining experience was good, but not good enough to get past initial disappointment.
Father’s Day celebrations
Amazing food, amazing service, excellent whiskey / scotch collection / new outdoor patio is next level!
Excellent all around, starting with receptionist happily moving our reservation being stuck in Dodger traffic, to being warmly greeted as we walked in. We started with some signature cocktails and appetizers, moving on to the main course of house favorites Toad in the Hole and Tam O'Shanter Cut Prime Rib. Our waiter Howard was excellent and helpful as this was our first time. The food came quickly by 2 servers at the same time and the food was hot and delicious. We were enjoying our experience so much, we decided to order English Triffel and Sticky Toffee Pudding with hot coffee.
Hoot Man we felt like we were on vacation in Scotland. Definitely will return and ask for Howard again.
Nostalgic visit for both of us celebrating my friend’s birthday. We both worked for the Frank family many, many years ago and a portion of that time we were housed in a temporary space directly across the street from the Tam. I recall the days when L.L. would come into his office at the food center and always had a warm welcome for any “visitor” to stop and chat for a minute or two. I have fond memories of those conversations! So glad the restaurants are still operated by the Franks. As always, the service was excellent, brunch was delicious, and the Tam was as cozy and charming as ever! It’s nice to know that some things don’t change—and that’s a good thing!
Our first time. Worth the 1 ½ hour drive. We celebrated my wife's birthday Friday. My parents enjoyed Tam O'Shanter 45 years ago and always spoke highly about their dinner.
We celebrated Father's Day early and it was a great meal. Everything was delicious and the service was superb.
