We were there on Father’s Day and the only disappointment is that they do not serve there fabulous chocolate soufflé...this restaurant never fails to impress with the quality and service. We will always return for another meal!
Father’s Day celebrations
Amazing food, amazing service, excellent whiskey / scotch collection / new outdoor patio is next level!
Nostalgic visit for both of us celebrating my friend’s birthday. We both worked for the Frank family many, many years ago and a portion of that time we were housed in a temporary space directly across the street from the Tam. I recall the days when L.L. would come into his office at the food center and always had a warm welcome for any “visitor” to stop and chat for a minute or two. I have fond memories of those conversations! So glad the restaurants are still operated by the Franks. As always, the service was excellent, brunch was delicious, and the Tam was as cozy and charming as ever! It’s nice to know that some things don’t change—and that’s a good thing!
Our first time. Worth the 1 ½ hour drive. We celebrated my wife's birthday Friday. My parents enjoyed Tam O'Shanter 45 years ago and always spoke highly about their dinner.
We celebrated Father's Day early and it was a great meal. Everything was delicious and the service was superb.
Nice place for a hearty meal of comfort food. Great meat entrees, delicious sides, all in a sprawling maze of rooms. Good for everything from after work drinks to family feasts. There's really no place like it in LA.
Need better vegan options
Celebrated Father’s Day early. Always a great experience at the restaurant with greAt service. Waitress took special attention to make sure that food and drinks wete to our liking. Highly recommend the restaurant for special occasions and every day dining.
Generally we really like it here.
However the last time it was super cold. The food server / waiter was pushing appetizers and deserts - Add ons. They always do that there, as does Lawry’s. Sorry. If I want something I will ask. I feel these places are better than pushing. I found the presentation of the extra was blunt. What drives me batty is the “are we going to have” whatever. Is the waiter going to sit with us and part of the dinner? Lol. I apologize for my little rant.
Great food, service, and ambiance! Will definitely go back!
I am a resident of Atwater Village where the "Tam" is located and have been going and taking friends for over 50 years -- very seldom disappointed.
Great service for our large party. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was pretty cool. I'd say a must do for iconic LA restaurants.
Always great and such a special place! Xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
It’s always great. Good food and atmosphere.
The Scotch Rarebit, Prime Rib and Hot Fudge Sundae, along with the service were excellent. The only bad taste was the rude valet service.
It’s the reliable Tam!
It never disappoints!
Always a great experience! Love this place! Come with an appetite. Excellent bar too. Service is always top notch. Food and ambiance the best! Haven’t yet had a chance to enjoy the new outdoor set up but looks inviting!
Fantastic dinner and service was excellent!
Everything was great. Thanks again
We had a wonderful evening/dinner at The Tam, so happy the quality of the food is still
tops and also the service! We will continue to dine at The Tam in the future.
Sarah, our waitress was so wonderful and on top of things! Great personality!
Service was very slow and poor. Servers seem inexperienced compared to the attention at Lawry's Prime Rib.
Consistently a good option for lunch or dinner. The service is good and the food tasty. Noted for their prime rib. Never disappointed.
Only (1) vegetarian entree on the menu, and it was polenta and squash that left MUCH to be desired.
the prime rib was great but the California cut was a joke, the cut was the same as a slice of roast beef.
service spot on, wedge was perfect, and rarebit unique. avoid the smaller cuts of prime rib
Tasty and pleasant
Charming atmosphere and great food. Overall a wonderful evening. Plus the music was awesome!
We are VIP members and love the food at Tam O Shanters! The service is phenomenal and we love the ambiance.
I will add that the membership rewards are amazing!! We often invite friends and family to join us, and they always rave about the food.
Unique, fun, excellent food. Staff was all very customer service oriented. Diane, our server for the evening was especially wonderful. Attentive, knowledgeable, always smiling. A great evening.
Wonderful service and excellent food! We were a party of 9 and well taken care of!
Great food and a totally funky decor. Excellent service and easy valet parking.
Never disappointing. The ambiance, device and food is always second to none. One of my favorite restaurants in L.A.
Our only complaint is that they did not come around to refill coffee - but more importantly they did not come to refill our water until we were finished. The waiter however was excellent, as was the food.
As someone adjusting to not eating beef, I was concerned that eating at Tam O’Shanter would be a difficult experience.
I could not have been more wrong!
The Roasted Jidori Chicken was amazing. It eased my feelings of jealousy over having to skip the prime rib. If I could, I would still go with the prime rib, but the chicken is a worthy substitute!
I was sorry to see that the prices had gone up so much, but the service made up for it somewhat, as did the fact that we didn't have to deal with valet parking on this Sunday brunch. The restaurant was packed by one in the afternoon which made it very loud. I loved that the landscaping had been updated since my last visit; very pretty.
Amazing first time experience! Seated right away, food was delicious as well as attentive service by staff. Water glasses always full. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Fantastic ambiance in a historic LA restaurant. Recipes don't seem to have changed much in its 87 year history. Reminds you of the supper club your parents would take you to as a kid. Food is out of this world - truly the best prime rib I have ever had, and I've been to all the best steakhouses in the country. Literally all of them. Eat in the same spot as Walt Disney (his favorite) and John Wayne. Outside was the inspiration for the Snow White cottage. Valet parking in mandatory and very reasonable. Great for large families or just dinner for two. Very cool, great service, a dinner to remember.
