About Talula’s Garden

Behind the wrought iron gate, past the herbaceous patio and through the atrium is Talula's Garden, the warm and elegant Washington Square eatery from Aimee Olexy and Starr Restaurants. The modern menu, prepared with carefully-sourced ingredients and a light European touch, changes with the seasons. The artful cuisine, hospitable staff, sustainable spirits, and a focus on cheese make the dining experience here incredibly memorable.

One of the best dining experience in Philly in recent times. We took a cheese board and all the 6 cheeses and the spreads were fantastic. I had the best pork belly ever. My friend took tuna and it was seared to perfection. And above all the portion sizes were perfect, not too big not to small.
The hype about Talula's Garden is absolutely justified. Hope they continue to serve such great food in the heart of Philadelphia.

The meal was wonderful. All main courses were terrific. Seasonal salad was a little over-dressed.

We had a wonderful dinner Saturday evening. The fried oysters were outstanding, the sauce was amazing. We loved our main courses, Short Ribs and the Pork Chop special. Our martini's, wine, dessert, coffee and after dinner port topped off our night! Can't wait to return!

My husband took me for my birthday and it was wonderful. We had the tasting menu for November and each of the courses was delicious and interesting. The food surpassed my already high expectations. The server was patient and intelligent in explaining the menu and answering questions. I can't wait to go back to try more of the cheeses!

This was delicious. Short ribs, pork belly were standouts. Nice wines too. Service was great. Our only complaint was that it was a cool day in November and the restaurant was blazing hot inside.

Talula's Garden never disappoints. The service is wonderful and the food even better. It can get pricey, but only because you want to eat everything on the menu. Perfect for a special occasion.

Talula's Garden is one of our favorite romantic restaurants in the city. We decided we prefer their summer menu better- and will likely hold off until then to return. Definitely order their STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING and DONUTS for dessert - both are AMAZING! Our favorite part of the meal!!

Only complaint was valet parking. $18 seems mercenary. Guy bumped another car pulling ours out and then brought it to us . Next, he stopped in the middle of the street when there was plenty of room curbside, and didn't open my door for me...and he had "tude".
Like the other reviews: cheese plate- divine. Maybe a teeny more of the relishes/accessories with the cheese would have been good. Grits with salted caramel butter- whaaaaat? I'm from Texas and these were the best EVER. Not too sweet like I was concerned about. Bacon- perfect temp and nice thickness. Coffee? Slurp! Service- attentive but didn't hover. Was articulate gent with good sense of humor. Believe his name was Paul and he was awesome. TY Paul! Atmosphere was whimsical and serene. It's obviously a very expensive place but at least you get what you pay for. The couple next to us loved their's too and said, "Worth every penny". Talulah's Garden is my new happy place.

Came here for brunch on my brother's recommendation and were thrilled. Everything was enticing and we ended up ordering too much food just so we could try a few different dishes. It was all incredible and the portions were huge. I loved the pancakes with ricotta whip and the ricotta doughnuts.

This was our 4 th time dining here and it was a meal to remember. We’ve been dining out in the city every weekend for the past two years and the meal we had was one for the books. Great atmosphere, wonderful service and food to die for.

Such a great place to impress the wife and celebrate a birthday! The cheese charcuterie is definitely recommended as a starter. We had the "World Travel" cheese charcuterie, which was very good and our server (Amelia) explained every single cheese and what it paired appropriately with. For appetizers, we had the fried Chesapeake oysters and the liver toast, which were both divine. The birthday girl had the pan roasted trout and I had the roasted duck breast, which were both perfect! Since it was my wife's birthday, for dessert our server came out with two small cupcakes with a candle in 1 (for my wife), which honestly were perfect because we were so stuffed. I honestly don't remember what flavor they were, but they were so tasty! "Happy Birthday" was also written in chocolate on the plate, which was the perfect touch. Drinks wise, since we came in before our reservation, we went to the bar where I had an old fashioned and my wife had a glass of Pinot Grigio. At the table I ended up getting "The Treehugger" and "The Winemaker", which were both very good and my wife had 2 "The Maverick" drinks, which she enjoyed very much. Overall, it was a great dining experience and we will definitely be coming back. Amelia was the best server we have ever had!

Overall our experience was great except for two things: very little bar seating so nowhere to wait for our table without being in the way and the worst part was being rushed through our meal. Courses arrived one after the other without time in-between. Felt as if they were trying to turn a table in 75 minutes. Felt rushed eating 3 courses and drinking a bottle of wine.

I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at Talula's Garden. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our server, Joanna is great and full of knowledge. The cocktails are very good and the Seasonal cheese plate is delicious! I enjoyed the best pasta dinner ever! The ricotta ravioli melted in my mouth and the spinach was fresh and tasty! I will be returning for sure!

Fantastic meal as always. We came for our 4-yer anniversary and were not disappointed. The service with Nate and Elijah was wonderful, considering how busy it was on a Monday night.
First course: I had the tuna crudo (nice portion size and so fresh), he had the fried oysters (nicely battered and not greasy at all)
Main course: I had the duck, done just the way I asked for it(not rare), he had the poached and smoked Scottish Salmon (very yummy).
The brioche roll with cayenne butter was sweet and spicy.
Dessert, we shared an apple crumble. Very good as well.
I'm happy they have albarino wine by the glass as so many places only have it by the bottle.
We will definitely be back for another special occasion.
