Solid but not extraordinary.
My husband was not interested in the five course meal and the staff went out of their way to accommodate him! They actually allowed him to order an entre from their restaurant next door and had it sent over!! They were superb.
Outstanding food and service. Menu linked to season.
A fun dining experience.
My second visit to Secret Supper Club. Rated as expensive for the 5 course tasting menu, but you will be well nourished. My dining companion often goes for lunch, but had never been for dinner. Inventive, at times adventurous, melange of flavors. Most of the staff seem to be foodies and can very knowledgeably describe the menu, even with passion. This is true also for the Garden next door. We even got into the weeds a bit on the intricacies of ricotta cheese. This is a small, intimate space, so if there are a couple of large groups, the noise level can be up. I gave 4 stars for ambiance because the chairs could be a bit more comfortable, but I get the farmhouse vibe that the Starr designers are espousing. Definitely will do again.
We had wanted to go for the set menu but half our party were vegetarians but were able to accommodate d with a great pasta and pea dish. Every dish was fantastic and the wine pairing was so thoughtfully matched. We have already made reservations for next month.
Excellent service and delicious food, you not be able to find in another restaurant.
The food and service was excellent. It was very expensive but also very special.
We spent a wonderful 48 hours in Philly without our two young children, and had the option to try various Starr restaurants. This was our favorite by far. We went on a cold weekday night, but the atmosphere was so cozy and warm. We felt truly like we were having an intimate supper. From the warm and attentive service to each thoughtfully prepared, seasoned-just-right courses, every aspect of the dining experience was perfect. We were there in April 2018, so started with this divine leek and potato soup. The duck proscuitto was beautiful and just the right amount. The Amish chicken was so juicy and tender - the portion was huge. To complement this, they had a well-curated beers and cocktail menu. This was the BEST dining experience we had in our whole time in Philly, and we were fortunate to try some other great places. HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking for a cozy, warm place for a sumptuous dinner.
Had an incredible Easter family gathering at Talula’s Secret Supper Club after the Daily closed for the night.
The food was phenomenal, but first, the service absolutely impeccable. Nicole was everything you could ever ask of a server – authentically warm, welcoming, accommodating, efficient, a great sense of humor and anticipated every need - actually the whole team of servers worked together seamlessly. There were 12 of us at the farm table and they somehow managed to magically expedite dishes & serve us simultaneously for all 5 courses. There was but one seating and we were encouraged to linger and enjoy each course.
The fresh ramp soup was exquisite - flavorful liquid velvet (without an being overly rich), the house-cured duck prosciutto with rhubarb conserve & watercress artfully presented and full of surprising contrasts that balanced the rich duck, the quality of the Amish chicken with tiny herbed biscuits in a herbed telicherry peppercorn sauce elevated a most simple chicken and biscuit dish into a revelation, and the final courses of fresh sheeps milk ricotta with a tart cherry drizzle with buttery brioche toasts and walnut baklava with a heaven-sent rose ice cream- wow,wow,wow...
I’ll be remembering this meal fondly for months - a large happy family reconnecting at the cozy candlelit farm table enjoying some of the best food ever. A new family tradition has been established!
Fantastic service and food. The wine pairings are excellent and the seasonal menus are always interesting.
Group of 6 dined in for the supper club. Overall, the food was very good and I have no problem wanting to go back, just want to point out that it's not fancy or out of this world just so people can lower their expectations. I would say it's very comforting and filling. $55/pp is reasonable 5 course meal. If you're a cheese lover, it's definitely worth a try.
Service was very nice and they explained each meal every time it was brought out. If they have a special dish of the day and the group wants to sample just a bite, I would say you could get away with one order despite their recommendation of one order being good for 2-3 people. That was my only regret from our dining experience. Do plan accordingly because as they say, dinner could take up to 2+ hours.
Food - and wine pairing- was outstanding. Our server terrific. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
amazing dining experience. very warm and friendly, attentive service. the restaurant accommodated my dietary requirements/limitations and really took care of us. food was perfect with wonderful flavours. thank you so so much - will absolutely want to return!
Always a great experience. All five courses were excellent. No big fuss jus great food in casual setting
Great meal and service was excellent!
Amazing!!! The best food I’ve ever tasted! Such a good experience will definitely be going back
Superb food and excellent service. The dinner menu is a set menu which changes month to month so be sure to check the menu before making reservations
If you haven’t dined at Talula’s Garden, then you’d probably really enjoy the food at the Daily. Having dined at the Garden, we were a tad disappointed with our meal. It was good, but we came in with high expectations. We expected it to be more elevated for the price. The wine pairing and the service were exceptional.
Delicious meal with a great wine pairing!
Great meal and great ambience. Highly recommended.
This was my third time at the restaurant and both of us did the wine pairings
Everything was delicious
We loved the wines
Our only issue was the desert took 20 minutes to arrive
We ended up taking it home
We’ll do it again
Fantastic menu. Staff very knowledgeable. Each month unique food and beverage pairing.
The food was delicious and good value. Despite having a reservation at 8PM, we weren't seated until 8:30. Mysteriously, no one had left between 8 and 8:30 so it was unclear what we had been waiting for. Once we were seated, the servers were apologetic and offered us an extra dessert to compensate for their disorganization but in the half hour we waited we were not informed about the anticipated wait or accommodated in any way. Our experience was overall positive despite this hiccup, but an up front explanation that we would need to wait and why, and/or a comped glass of wine while we were waiting would have been appreciated and improved our experience.
The food was delicious, the service was wonderful, the kitchen accomodating to requests, and the entire evening was delightful.
As long as the pre-set menu sounds good to you - it will be!
Not a bad part of the meal or experience! Good was all great and wait staff very attentive and knowlagable.
We had an absolutely wonderful meal--it's the perfect place for a date night. The monthly menus are always creative, even when the restaurant is doing a take on a classic.
Incredible food, attentive staff. Came for an early Valentine’s Day and enjoyed it thoroughly.
Extraordinary food! Spectacular service! A real winner!
Amazing food! Loved every single course! I will definitely be back SOON.
Have wanted to try Talula's in Kennett but almost impossible to get a reservation. Was thrilled to see Talula's in Philly. Had drinks at Talula's Garden (next door) and dinner at the Secret Supper Club. Both were great. Dinner was a planned menu - very good and portions were the right size for the four course meal. Looking forward to trying Talula's Garden for dinner. Great outdoor space so will probably wait for the warm weather.
The food is always fantastic. The portions had gotten too small but have returned to an appropriate size.
This was one of the great meals of my life. The menu was, frankly, boring: shrimp cocktail, wedge salad, steak, lava cake, but each dish was spectacular, unusual, and delicious. The cocktail sauce was worth eating alone, for the smoked paprika and other flavors. The creamed spinach under the steak was superb. The wine pairings were beyond perfect. Best of all was Nicole, our beautiful, attentive, knowledgeable, and engaging service person.
The current steakhouse menu was good, but lacked imaginative flair that I would have expected. The cost of the food was quite fair. Portions are all reasonable. The wine pairings all went perfectly with the meal but for the cost there should have been a pour for each course. Service was excellent in a fun ambiance.
The warm and inviting atmosphere felt like dining at a friends home. The whole team paid attention to every detail of our dining experience. The food was delicious, and worth every penny. I had the wine pairing w/ the meal which complimented the food in such a good way. The scallops& shrimp dish was amazing.
We have been to Talula's supper club three times now. Each time we have really valued the quiet, home like atmosphere and the non-intrusive style of the service. We celebrated my parents 40th wedding anniversary there last weekend and they treated us so well, and even brought out a special dessert to celebrate.
The only tricky part for us across the three visits has been the food. While always good, we felt the first time was AMAZING, and the subsequent two visits were very good, but not mind blowing like the first. I think any restaurant with a changing theme is going to run into that.
Highly recommend, especially for a large group.
Dinner after a wine tasting. Everything was too notch - great experience!
Very farmhouse feel, with upscale "farmhands" serving. Excellent food, knowledgeable and caring staff. Enjoyed the wine pairing. A memorable NYE. Thank you Talula's!
All Talula's are our favorite. Never disappoints!
Great experience overall. Each entree was perfectly balanced and enjoyable, with bigger than expected portion sizes. The wine pairing was also well worth it. The optional add-on entree, truffle gnocchi was amazing and would’ve regretted not getting it. Overall great experience, nice and relaxed atmosphere and most importantly I feel a great value.
This was the best meal we’ve ever had. Ever! The food was amazing, the atmosphere was cozy, and the staff were all so nice and welcoming.
