Reservation was for 10:30. Brunch was not ready and we could not be seated until 11:00. Food wasn't fully out until 11:30. Service was excellent, servers were wonderful and attentive. Food was just ok, nothing that I would come back for again.
We went here on Valentine’s Day and they offered a menu for that. We chose to eat from it and even though it was different than what I’m use to, the food was remarkable. I truly enjoyed the experience.
Incredible food. Everything we sample (and it was a lot of dishes) was fantastic. People really need to come check this place out.
Showed up with a party of 7 and they were shut down even though I had a reservation. Will never try here again.

We really liked the small plates menu. We ate in the restaurant, but the lounge on the other side of the bar looked like a great place to grab a drink.
This was one of the worst dining experiences that I have ever had. This is not an upscale quality restaurant. It is a hotel bar / restaurant that has children climbing the walls, running around, throwing things, yelling and screaming. I also ordered the char grilled oysters. I do not even think that they saw a flame. The oysters were raw with lemon all over them. I specifically asked before I ordered and was extremely disappointed. I truly do not have any complaint where our waiter is concerned. He did the best he could with what he had to work with. Extremely overpriced for any of what you get.

Service was attentive, more so than one would expect at a hotel buffet.
Breakfast/brunch buffet side dishes were tasty - Grits, croissants and bacon. Their mimosas are made with freshly squeezed orange juice and are EXCELLENT.
The star of the show should have been the omelet bar, and that's where we were disappointed. We had to wait a long time to get the eggs. The chef left out the cheese in both of them, and my omelet was overcooked. Also, they weren't ready together, so I had to return to the bar twice to pick them up.
So... Even though I said "no," on my recommendation, I'd give them another chance. I would just stick with the rest of the buffet, avoid the omelets, and have a second mimosa. :-)

First and last time. Too expensive, little value. Spent 120.00, no cocktails nor wine.
My wife's filet was overlooked. My chicken portion was minuscule for 27.00. Sides were measured with teaspoons. The shrimp cocktail was well priced but lacked dressing.
Service extreme slow especially for the 3-4 tables that were taken and the amount of FOH team members.
Lastly parking is very inconvenient.

Food was good - no surprise as we've dined there previously. Waitress was pleasant but seemed to take longer than necessary being that the restaurant was only half full. There was a wedding/reception taking place at the adjoining hotel while we were dining which may have affected our serve/wait time. After selecting desserts offered by waitress she came back and told us that the chef said he was out of one of the desserts.
Food is outstanding. Unfortunately surroundings are not at the same level. Restaurant facility seems like an afterthought. You feel like you are sitting in a table someone just set up in the lobby. Zero ambiance. However, quality of the food, both taste and presentations along with outstanding service more than makes up for the unfortunate location and delivers a very possible experience. Won't go back but would highly recommend to anyone staying in the hotel. As good as anything you would find in Baton Rouge so why drive around, enjoy!!
We went for an early dinner and each had a salad that were both satisfying. Grilled romaine with oysters and artichoke; wedge salad with cup of gumbo. Nice dark roux for the gumbo. Plump fried oysters.
When there is music by the bar it is quite noisy.
Shockingly good for a hotel
We came for Easter Brunch today. We sat down, started to eat and were immediately given a bill. Our drink order was not taken, service was not even given- we had plates and mimosa glasses stacked and no one came to take it, yet the waitress who brought our bill had no problem tacking an 18% gratuity charge on to our bill for two guests. For what? I tip 20-25%. But to be given a bill upon seating and have gratuity automatically added? Classless. Poor service. We were very disappointed.
The Thanksgiving buffet was well stocked with traditional holiday favorites. Self service allowed us to enjoy as much or as little as we pleased. Dessert featured several choices, too. Overall, the meal was very enjoyable and a welcome change for us.
Service was very good. Food was average for Louisiana but really over priced for the portions. Too many other good options in Baton Rouge to bother returning here.
Had read several reviews about Tallulah, most of which appeared to be fairly good. Husband and I go out for dinner almost every Thursday and usually go to upper-middle to upper price level restaurants. Decided to try Tallulah since we wanted to find some variety.
There was a table of six and a table of one when we got there . Nobody else came into the dining area during the little over two hours we were there, so it was definitely not crowded; however, it took at least ten minutes for a waiter to come to our table. Had to wait and wait for water and to start our order.
My husband had the crab cakes, which were good but not worth the $16--very small and slightly overcooked on the outsides. The Caesar Salad was quite good and a reasonable size for the price. I had the fish almondine and my husband had the filet mignon. It took nearly 40 minutes to get our entrees. My fish almondine was covered in about 3/4 of a cup of toasted almonds that I had to scrap off into a pile to find the smallest piece of fish I have yet to be served in a restaurant. My husband's filet was cooked correctly, but it also was very small for the price. Ate the fish because I was so hungry and couldn't find the waiter to discuss my entree with him. Left almost all the almonds. The complimentary bread never appeared though we asked twice and were told "it is baking". It doesn't take two hours or more to bake small loaves of bread. Never saw the other tables with bread either.
Saw our waiter four times: seating; salad and appetizer order; entree order; and bill. The noise coming from the bar area, which was somewhat separated from the dining area, was so loud it was obtrusive.
The food is not worth the price. Service needs improvement. Overall was not a pleasant evening. Will never be back.
Went for the Mother's Day Brunch. Food and service were very good, but the brunch buffet was set up in one of the convention rooms. There were no cloths on many of the tables making the room look like it was set up for a conference instead of a special event.
We spent about 3.5 hours for dinner since the kitchen was way under staffed. But the food was excellent and the waiter went above and beyond to make the experience a good one! I would go back again.
For a hotel restaurant, this is a very good restaurant. Good food and atmosphere. The only thing on which to improve would be better drink portions. This is worth a try.
The vibrant Renaissance Hotel is the setting for this restaurant that offers a wonderful dining option for Baton Rouge diners looking for a delicious meal in an stylist setting. Attentive wait staff and a menu of regional favorites complete the experience.

We had a romantic and delicious meal. The food was imaginative and the service on time.
The food was excellent but I thought there could have been more variety. And, the turkey was very spicey. But I loved the vegetables and the roast beef was outstanding!
I would return for another holiday buffet and would like to try their on menu items also sometime.

I never realized this restaurant was in this hotel until an offer was made via 225 Best Eats. The brunch was very good and the decor was impressive. I will definitely be back to experience some of the wines that are on tap. But the $3 bottomless mimosas did the trick!

The food at Talllulah's is always good but the location inside the hotel is it's downfall. It's basically open to foot tragic and lobby noise. Never sit at the front of the space. It's loud. Service was very slow the night we went but they made up for it by comping our bottle of wine. We'll be back but I really wish it had its own space in the hotel.
We went there for brunch. Made reservations for 12:30 although reservations definitely weren't needed, at least not this particular Sunday. Unfortunately, they were out of crawfish tails and so we couldn't order our first choice off the menu but the choices we did make were delicious. I had NY Strip and Eggs Sardou which honestly, was probably the best brunch item I've ever tasted. Absolutely perfect combinations of ingredients and flavors. She had the crabcake with poached egg and hollaindaise sauce. Hers was very good as well. The bottomless bloody mary's for $5 are a great deal and they also offered bottomless mimosas for $3. For $45 pre-tip, it was a heck of a value. Will definitely go back.
Expected the brunch buffet to be in the restaurant but the success of this format prompted the move to the hotel ballroom. It was outstanding to say the least with great assortment of food covering 1/2 of the ballroom with a buffet fit for a Queen for Mother's Day. Mimosa's and Bloody Mary's included in the buffet along with a great display of desserts. The band booked for the event was outstanding with a few couples dancing. The highlight of the day was the little girl dressed in her Sunday finest passing out long stemmed roses of assorted colors. My mother was so impressed and we will surely reserve again next year. The $42 price tag was steep for those that don't drink or for the kiddos between 12 - 21 that couldn't drink.
At this hotel - didn't feel like venturing out. The wine list is as promised - extensive and has more than a few good ones to choose from. And the menu is also at least as good as expected - a few items were really good like the Char grilled oysters. Even the rack of lamb was fine, while the tuna tartare was bland. Overall worth a visit.
A wonderful brunch, very kid friendly and beautifully set up in the Salons.
This is my second time visiting and the food is not consistent nor worth the price.
The Valentine's Dinner was a pre-set menu with excellent choices. The price was very reasonable especially for the quantity and quality of the food.
The only thing that some of the people at my table commented about was the volume level from the band. It seemed to be a bit too loud or maybe we were sitting too close to the band. Either way it interfered with our conversation several times.
I had read many reviews of Tallulah, many of which touted poor, slow service and over-cooked food. The wife and I went on Valentine's Day, and had a limited menu. The blue cheese wedge salad was very good, as was the hearts of palm salad. We both had bone-in filet mignon - and both were cooked correctly (mine medium, wife's medium rare). Pretty large wine list. Eating/seating area is much like a large bar sitting area with no doors anywhere and it does give a direct view of the bar. It was loud in part because of the setting and the hard floors. Would try again for a regular menu night.
As the restaurant is within a hotel and not segregated from the general hotel area, it has a special ambiance to it. Food was excellent except for one dish which was served completely cold. Management did apologize and offered a replacement dish, but we had to decline for time reasons. Unfortunately for us, there was a not too talented solo artist performing just outside the dining area, which didn't help improving the ambiance...
For starters OpenTable did not secure our reservation and when I called to "double check", I ended up making them myself. Once at the restaurant, we were completely ignored by the bartender upon arrival. No host/hostess present. Two of the main entrees ordered,at our table of 6, were not in stock. Told waiter of severe wheat allergy- he completely disregarded the allergy when offering/assisting with ordered items. We had an allergic reaction, in the group, later that evening. Every bite of dinner was under seasoned and/or cold. Food had to be sent back. Full price was charged and was ridiculously high considering the low quality of our dinner. I was so embarrased that Tallulah had been my choice of "new place to take the group"!
