Four of us visited Talleys on a quiet Thursday night. Our food was delicious; the tomato and mozzarella flat bread was flavorful and had just the right amount of cheese! Homemade meatloaf over mashed potatoes was the perfect comfort food for a chilly evening. My only complaint was that the waitress interrupted us four times to try and take our order in a ten minute span. We felt completely rushed that we were not allowed to enjoy our cocktails.
Service was exceptional despite a solid crowd; food was great and cooked to perfection. Great stout from Solemn Oath Brewing in Naperville.
Had a wonderful dining experience at Talley's. Cozy yet lively atmosphere and delicious food. Had the steak and fries and thought it was outstanding. Great neighborhood restaurant but also worth the drive for out-of-towners.
Enjoyed the service and selection. Lots of diners, singer, more than satisfied with wine sekections, salmon and gnocchi entrees. Really enjoyed baked goat cheese appetizer.
Four of us went for dinner and loved everything about Talleys. Super easy to park in sleepy little Clarendon Hills. I had the Talley's Lemonade/Tea special cocktail and it was truly delicious. We split the fried green beans, also good. I ordered the short ribs and they were excellent too. The four of us split the Croissant Bread Pudding, and it was sinfully good. Can't wait to go back!
6:00 pm on a Wednesday night, the place is almost empty and the hostess seats my wife and me at one of those tables along the wall that has the continuous bench. She puts us right next to the only other occupied table in the restaurant. She did this to us once before and because we complained at that time we got a decent table. We don't go out to dinner to fight and didn't feel like complaining tonight so we took the table. The three women seated next to us did what women do, yak yak yak all through dinner. Perfectly fine for them, but why place us there when the joint is deserted? Now when we were seated we did not know that this would be a dead night and thought maybe they would need all the tables for four, but guess what, the hostess knew there was no one coming. So why not space the seating so everyone has a comfortable and enjoyable evening? This was neither. In addition I ordered "The Prospect" as a before dinner cocktail. Like a watered down fruit juice. This from a place that has the word "bar" in their name. What a joke. We live nearby and have dined here a number of times, yet still try to give this place the benefit of the doubt. No more. We won't be back. Note to Talley's owner - do yourself a favor and train your hostess. And make a drink that at least is comparable to the other restaurants in the area.
Great atmosphere and fun appetizers (crunchy green beans!)..the wine selection was good and the server was prompt and funny!
We introduced new friends to Talleys, one of our all-time favorite "go to" restaurants. It never disappoints as far as service, good food, and value. And our friends always wind up taking their other friends there as well!
Excellent. Could not think of a better place to go to.
Four of us visited Talley's, including 2 vegetarians. Veggie selections were not numerous but the roasted veggie entrée with risotto was a good option and very tasty. We shared a pesto fritter appetizer which all enjoyed. Service was friendly and prompt. We were there early for dinner on a Sat. before going to a concert so it was quiet (one of our party is hearing-impaired- that is always a plus), until two families came in with very young children, two of whom cried loudly as little ones often will. While the ambience does not speak "family", with so few restaurants in Clarendon Hills it may be the neighborhood "spot" . . . ? We shared a croissant bread pudding for dessert, which was heavenly. Good bread pudding is hard to find. That, and the few other veggie options on the menu, will bring us back.
Great service and great creative food!
Perfect date night. Intimate dining experience, the food was great. Enjoyed the pork wing appetizer. It had the perfect level of heat and sweet. The grilled cheese short rib sandwich rocked, and there were plenty of great choices for wine by the glass. Add in a talented guitarist singing alt rock and it was an awesome experience.
Great food and service. Two things I don't care for is how tightly packed the room is and you can really feel the cold come in when the door opens. Kinda a bummer and watch what you talk about because you can hear everyone by you.
A very cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Jeff was our server, everything he recommended was wonderful. This was a first time visit for my husband and myself, we enjoyed the food, buffalo shrimp was amazing, the pork chop delicious and the cheesecake dessert was so tasty. We loved the ambiance!!! Great find!!
This was an early New Year's Eve dinner for us -- did the rest of the celebrating elsewhere. We lucked into the live music towards the end of the meal. Christine? I think her name was... she was great - guitar and vocals. Nothing too loud, and great selections for our liking.
The food was excellent. We have been to Talley's at least twice before, at least 6 months or more ago, and it has always been good, but this evening the scallops and filet we ordered were finished to perfection. The appetizer -- risotto fritters -- was also executed perfectly -- light breading, just enough bite to the risotto...
We'll go back on Saturday nights more regularly for the live music, and to try out some other menu items.
Love the atmosphere and get that "going local" is important in choosing food and drink but the beer is a bit too eclectic. Would be great to add a couple mainstream items (Fat Tire, Lagunitas, Deschutes, Blue Moon etc. or even more mainstream).
The short rib grilled cheese sandwich was FABULOUS.. it's always FABULOUS!!
First visit and was impressed. Will definitely go back soon.
Good food, good service, nice crowd. We haven't had bad experience here.
It was cold and drafty where they sat us. We were cold and our feet were almost numb by the time we left. My porkchop was served rare and cold in the middle. Sent it back. We shared my wife's meal. Got my meal back after 15 minutes when we were done eating. The owner said they would cover my meal, but she forgot to tell the waitress and the bill showed everything. The owner then took the bill and she covered both meals. We won't be back any time soon.
Nice little spot in downtown Clarendon Hills. What we ate was good. Interesting that they have plates on table for bread or bread items but never give you anything. Pretty much ala carte. Noticed this visit that the portions were smaller but still tasty. Small but interesting menu
Our waitress, Jennifer, was great! Very personable and friendly. Food is always good!
Just good food!
This is DEFINITELY a neighborhood gem. The owner knows so many of the customers by name. I can only assume that is because they are repeat customers and I know why. This was our first time here and we will definitely be back. The food was delicious and the ambience was really special.
This was my old go to when I lived in the area. Moved away but visited it again on Saturday night with friends. Still a winner!!! Great fall dishes . Their chef is a gem! Love the local vibe but really love the food.
Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was tasty and lots of good options. Enjoyed it!
Food was good. Server was very nice. We only wish we knew Sunday's were kids eat free and we would have chosen a different night since this was a special night for us away from our kids and we were basically the only ones without small children.
Went on a Sunday kids eat free night and so maybe this contributed to the overly casual feel. The food was good and everything else was just okay
Great food! The scallops were wonderful. Salmon and Mahi Mahi tacos were yummy! The service was great and they did have a TV at the bar to catch the baseball playoffs! Over all a win!
Excellent meal Great service. Reasonable priced. Some may consider little high.
Service and atmosphere was very good. The problem was that in our party of 6, 4 people loved the meal and two people were disappointed enough not to go back. It might be worthwhile to try again. Also the rest does not pick up its phone (at least in my case) and the only way to make a reservation was thru opentable. (Which I would prefer anyway)
Must have been a change in kitchen
Waited forever for food. 2 of the dinners were greasy on the plate - and one of them was the vegetarian plate! Long, long wait with no bread or bread sticks. Boring and made us late. Used to be super place.
Excellent food and service. We will definitely back.
Talley's is our local favorite, we live just steps away and are happy to have such an excellent and friendly establishment right in the neighborhood. Clarendon Hills is a little off the beaten path, but check Talley's it's well worth it.
Food was definitely good especially for price. Waitress was not so good, but luckily she had good staff backing her. I can only hope the majority of the tip I left went to her back-up.
We had been to this restaurant months earlier and really liked it. Our second time back was a disappointment. The service was painfully slow and the food was not nearly as good as it was our first visit. We won't be going back a third time.
Everything was fine except for my steak. It had great flavor but was soooo chewy and fatty. 🙁
We liked everything else about it. My husband had the scallops with risotto and loved it. We loved their version of the wedge.
Not to noisy and we were able to get in at the last minute. Even parked for free 100 feet away! Ahh, the suburbs!, WooHoo!
Always good. Great place to see long time friends. Wonderful with children and grandchildren. Service is friendly and professional. Love to go to Talley's.
We had a nice evening but went to the restaurant as their website advertised live music on Saturday nights. We were disappointed to learn from our waitress that they do not offer live music in the Summer. The food was very good and our waitress was very attentive but not overly so. Overall we had a very nice evening.
Awesome experience. So glad we chose this restaurant. Our server, Mandy, was friendly and funny. She made excellent recommendations throughout as we tried most of the dishes. The food was fresh and excellently prepared. The seared tuna was so good, I ordered two. We also had the flatbread pizza for an appetizer. We are quite the pizza aficionados and found their pizza to be among the best we ever had. Again, we ordered a second. Actually, we ordered a third! The bourbon cocktails were delicious. The atmosphere was modern and relaxed. I highly recommend this restaurant.
