Talde - Jersey City Ratings and Reviews
Stylish, very loud, chairs too low, food doesn’t come at the same time by design, food was ok but not great, salmon came in a pot covered in broth which was fine, but still had skin what is then hard to do remove when in a broth. Rice never showed up and we had to follow up to find out 15 min later that the rice cooker was broken. The substitute came much later, my dinner was basically a piece of salmon. To top it I got an email that we were a no show. To be fair they took off the bill the side and my glass of wine.
The atmosphere & ambiance was great. However, I was a bit disappointed with the food quality. I ordered the short rib with noodle and didn’t think it was up to par with 4 stars from Yelp. Also our blue crab rice arrived when we were nearly 3/4 done with our meal.
Our waitress was okay although she dissuaded me from ordering the grilled octupus which turned out to be great - a colleague ordered it and had an opportunity to taste it.
May return but will be more careful as to what I order.
Plum basil margarita had no taste of basil or plum. Bartender gave wrong change back. Not engaging. Server was nice but was given too many tables at once. Host never checked us in and made us wait for table longer than we had to. Food was great. Dessert was okay. For what they charge, should be more up to par.
Went to Talde in JC a few days ago for the 3rd time. Food is delicious as always. Service was very slow, took over half hour for our appetizer to be be brought to our table. Literally 2 mins later, out came our enteee. It was a Saturday night so that could account for the slowness if they were busy. Regardless, I would definitely recommend to go and when yo do, you MUST try the #6 Bao!
I came to check out their Hudson Restaurant Week (HRW) 3-course pre fixe. I personally think it was a great deal what I ordered. I got the Grilled Octopus for my appetizer, Pork Sisig for main, and Flan Spring Rolls for dessert. All were great! I would totally come back for the octopus, hands-down. I also love the spicy vinegar that they serve here, too! It reminds me of what I use as a condiment in the Philippines. The drinks here were also great! I got the Magellan’s Curse; definitely a hit! You also can’t beat the $5 wine/beer special with the HWR. Service, on the other hand, was a little rough. I’m assuming the kitchen got slammed all at the same time so food took long. When dessert came, the (maybe) manager dropped off an order of Flan Spring Roll to my fiancé (though he had two orders with him) and left. So I waited longer to get my Flan Spring Rolls. I felt bad because the couple next to us have been waiting for their second dessert while we were eating our main course, and we both got the dessert at the same time. The managers seemed flustered at times, but like I said, it could have been just a busy night for them. I’d definitely come back!
Went to Talde for Hudson Restaurant Week. Plates were very small and underwhelming. We did not receive our dessert after being in the restaurant for two hours. Food was okay but not filling. We do not recommend trying the restaurant week menu, it wasn’t worth the money at all.
I have been to Talde in Brooklyn a handful of times and it became one of my favorite restaurants in my neighborhood. Unfortunately the experience at the JC restaurant was not the same as BK. Obviously the tapas/family style is meant to come out as it's ready. But it took two hours for two apps and two entrees to come out. The server was extremely apologetic and was doing everything she could. But for a slow Monday night, the experience as less than ideal. Not sure what the issue was in the kitchen, but that is a snails pace. The food, per usual was good, though the two entrees were actually cold. We were hungry so we decided not to send it back. Hopefully this was just an off-night for the kitchen, but something to be weary of going in.
Cool bustling neighborhood spot. Great for a date or a group, as all dishes are meant to be shared. Definitely make a reservation in advance or you might be facing a long wait for a table. Have dined here several times and they food has blown me away. The food is creative and you'll find dishes and flavors that you can't find anywhere else. Favorite must have dish is the branzino dish. It is served with wanton wrappers so you can make delicious mini fish tacos. It pairs well with the cashew vegetable rice which is flavorful and not oily at all, and the bok choy or whichever vegetable dish they have. My husband loves the spring rolls - He says it is the best he has ever had. The sauce for it is so good, it should be bottled and sold. There is usually only one choice for dessert... Right now they are serving these amazing potato chip pretzel crust cookies with chocolate ganache. They are an addicting and perfect combination of salty and sweet. You'll see why Dale Talde won a Top Chef cookie challenge with this recipe when you take one bite. This is becoming one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. The only thing not perfect about it is the service. It has been ok but not at the level it should be at. One time the waitress never checked on us until we finished eating. My husband would have ordered another drink if she stopped by earlier. Another time, I told the waitress we were celebrating a birthday. The waitress changed shifts and the second waitperson was not informed. Still, the food is so good we keep coming back.
Wonderful experience! Great food and service. Perfect place to go with a group and share plates. Highly recommend the Kung Pao chicken wings, the Bao #6 spicy chicken sandwich, the pork with crispy noodles, and especially the blue crab fried rice...so yummy!
Talde feels like a Gastropub that has a few innovative menu selections, but certainly more choices of drinks than main meals. What they do offer is tasty and interesting, just very limited selection. So if you want to drink first and mostly, with a side meal- it's great.
The food was very salty. Octopus was excellently cooked but the olives were super salty. The sauce for the Singaporean noodles and pad Thai were very salty, even after sending back to the kitchen. The first time the noodles came out they were covered in the dark colored sauce.. The branzino was great. Great service, very friendly!
Great food and very attentive and thoughtful staff. They asked if there were any food allergies/intolerances and were able to make recommendations based on what we were trying to avoid. Food was absolutely delicious and the ambiance was great! Highly recommend!
Overall food was great. Service started off a little slower than we like but our server made up for it with great suggestions and better attentiveness once drinks were ordered. One really irritating thing to me was that the hostess was preoccupied with her phone for longer than I thought necessary when we arrived, I finally had to ask her to help us. At the end of the meal while we were walking out, no effort was made to say thank you or acknowledge our visit. I was expecting more after spending almost 200 dollars for the meal
I have been to Talde several times before but it's been 1.5 years since the last time (due to moving - not the restaurant). Food is still great as long as you are not expecting "authentic" Asian cuisine. The food is a playful take on your familiar Asian dishes and packs a lot of flavor. The restaurant is nicely decorated however, the noise level in the restaurant is high! It's not for intimate conversations. Overall, glad to be back after 1.5 years.
The MC Bao was absolutely delicious. Meat was tender and a great smokey hoisin style sauce. The pork dumplings were super crispy and flavorful filling. The shrimp shumai were filled with pieces of shrimp, not the usual paste you get elsewhere, and went well with the corn and Chinese sausage on top. The only slight disappointment was the yuzu guacamole. It was served like sushi on crispy rice. While it tasted good, there wasn't enough guacamole considering that was the star. The short rib kare kare was incredible. The meat was fall apart tender and the coconut, peanut sauce was light and savory. All in all, it was outstanding!
Had a reservation for a group of 9 friends to celebrate a Birthday. Food was amazing, but service was awful. We were packed uncomfortably into a booth despite the spacious table running down the middle of the restaurant. Our server was absolutely miserable. We spent most of our dinner with empty glasses, and only half of us were given the opportunity to order more than 1 drink in a 2 hour period. The table was filled with 5 industry people, and we couldn't have made it any easier for this waiter. As much as I love the food here, I may not return, and if I do, I will never return with a group.
Food was amazing. All of the flavors are unique and interesting, the waitress even helped us pick out combinations based on our needs. General Talde's chicken was great, the #6 bao was my personal favorite (essentially a buffalo chicken sandwich in a bao bun), and got a great recommendation on cocktail based on our meals. Highly recommend for large or small groups, plenty of space and very family style dining.
