About Talavera Cocina Mexicana
Mexico, home of Talavera, the unique fine art pottery from the 16th Century, native of the city of Puebla.
This genuine and refined Mexican spirit of the Talavera art sets the ground for the spirit of our menu. From the "Huarache" grill, a series of delicate dishes served on a corn tortilla base, to a variety of regional specialties from Sonora to Oaxaca, from Michoacan to Puebla, from Jalisco to Yucatan.
Talavera, the art of a genuine and refined taste of Mexico.

Talavera Cocina Mexicana Ratings and Reviews
I've been to this restaurant before, the food is usually good but pricey. On this trip the service was not great, our waiter barely checked on us, we had empty plated and glasses for a while before he came by and we had to ask him to refill or clear up for us. One of our party said the ceviche tasted like it was from a can but they changed her plate without issue. It's a nice location and drinks are good but not sure if it would be my go to place.
Regular diners since Talaver opened, we have watched a steady deterioration over time. It isn’t the restaurant it once was. Speculations as to why would make this review needlessly long, but it feels like Talavera has become the barely tolerated stepchild of the Jaguar group. The owners are rarely if ever there, they have had a parade of managers, and the menu has shrunk. It’s as if nobody’s “running the ship”, and no one cares. C’mon Lalu and Sergio! You had a good thing going. Restore it to its previous excellence.
Finally!! Mexican in Miami!!
The margaritas were delicious! The mole was impressive (although the chicken it was served with was Very dry). And the enchiladas suizas are in keeping with great Mexican from California, Texas, Mexico and other places Mexican is the cuisine de oro.
We chose to eat outside to listen to a small ensemble playing outside the restaurant. The plaza is recently finished and will be sought after very soon.
Table linens and cloth napkins were nice accompaniments to the velvet evening.
Valet park. It's $5. The closest garage is a few blocks away and $10.
The worst part is getting there. Coral Gables has been under construction for a few years with many delays. Right now, the area is just miserable but this will end (someday)!
I was dining with my wife. We've been toTalavera before, and enjoy it. Our food was very tasty and served perfectly. The portions are of a size that some dishes can be shared by two people.
Fortunately, for me, our Wait Person didn't offer us a dessert menu, or I probably would have ordered, but I enjoyed my coffee.
It was a very good evening.
