Excellent dinner. It's a bit of a drive, but well worth it.
My new favorite in Scottsdale
Everything seemed fine until we showed them the Phoenix fine dining card we would be using. We sat and saw other tables served wonderfully when I never got asked for a refill of my iced tea. Maybe they assumed we were cheap skates and figured we didn’t need proper service . Very sad
We were so smitten with everything about the new Talavera, we were planning our return visit half-way through dinner...it was that good! The room is gorgeous, the menu is vibrant and delicious, the vibe is just right and the service is Four Seasons...always top notch!
The martini was not cold and very expensive. My friend's salmon, which she ordered medium, was served rare. We had to flag down some staff member to find a server to tell. The place is beautiful, city lights, mountain view. The food is good but not excellent which was what we were expecting.
You may sit inside or out depending on the time of day and Az heat choose wisely. The views back over the valley and nearby hills is fabulously inviting. The seating is. Rey comfortable and widely spaced for reasonable conversations. The menu offers all the standards as well as a broad selection of tapas - and palleia. The service was. Rey friendly and well paced. For a high end hotel the prices were definitely reasonable.
Chef Sanz is a wonderful, creative chef that imbues all her menus with her love of food and her heritage. I love the seafood paella. The pulpo a la plancha is a longtime favorite and the pumpkin fideua is a new find. You cannot go wrong with anything you try at Talavera!
Fantastic experience! Outstanding staff and service!
We are major foodies and lived in San Francisco, Chicago and New York. This is the only restaurant in Scottsdale that is comparable to high end restaurants in the cities listed. Ryan, our server and Katherine the manager were fantastic in their care of us and others. The food is flavorful, approachable and exquisite. Compared to other Scottsdale high end restaurants, prices are more reasonable and Talavera has a wider selection of options. We will be there often now and recommend to all of our friends. WELL DONE!!!!
Fantastic atmosphere with excellent service! Food was great!
I had called ahead to find out what the entrees were for restaurant week. What they told me was not what we had available That was Very disappointing. I also told them it was our anniversary. It was never acknowledged the entire time we were there. Once we told our waiter that we wanted the restaurant week menu I felt we did not get the attention we should have.
We had an awesome experience. Ryan from the waitstaff was very knowledgeable and Mira who assisted was an absolute gem! Food was delicious and creative. The only thing to make it better would be to have by the glass wine pairing suggestions.
Thanks for an awesome meal and experience!
had been to Talavera several year ago and really enjoyed it. Not so much this time. Not really at the level I would have expected for a four Seasons restaurant, but the prices certainly were.
this was a very disappointing experience. We have been several timse before, imcluding family anniversaries etc and enjoyed the elegance, food, attentive service . This experience featured very slow service...long gaps between courses. We certainly were not in a hurry but the gaps were difficult. Finished with dinner we were offered a birthday dessert and then waited another 15 minutes...giving up and taking it home. The paella which was touted in the Re[ublic was disappointing. The only impressive marisco was the large prawn, the rest was unfitting the establishment or the price... a few mussels with tiny dried meat, the crab"chunks" were virtually impossible to find and were about the size of my fingernail! It would have been a very bad experience except for the gracious manager who saw the problems and apologised. The noise level was beyond energetic, actually deafening!. What happened to elegance?
Best steak and view in town ! Not surprising given that its part of the Four Seasons.
My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there on the recommendation of a friend. We had a great table on the patio overlooking the city and the service was excellent. My husband had the filet and I ordered the chicken, which were both delicious. I could eat the mashed potatoes by the bucketful. Definitely order those! Eating there was a big splurge for us, but well worth it!
Wonderful ambiance, service, and food. Great for intimate dinners or smaller affairs with friends.
Service was very good as was the ambiance. We had seafood paella which was no more than average. Meatball appetizer was very good. Watermelon salad was no more than average. Watermelon pieces were too large and unripe. Cheesecake dessert was excellent. Tres Leches dessert was just fair....cake portion of it was pedestrian. Sauce was tasteless and amateurish on this dessert.
First in for most the ambience is incredible. Food was great not only in taste but in presentation. And to top it all off the service was impeccable. I will be back as soon as I can get there. There was a chance to get six stars to a place I would highly consider giving them six
Everything about this place was enjoyable! Great staff, excellent varied wine and spirit selection and the food was amazing! Outdoor seating has a wonderful view!
One of the most enjoyable dining experiences of our lives. The food was great, but the service was through the roof. Everything from friendliness to knowledge to pacing of when each course was brought out...perfection. Also our server treated us to a complimentary glass of cava (celebrating our anniversary), and after the meal the staff also treated us to a dessert and dessert wine. Truly a fantastic experience. We will be back for sure.
We had a wonderful meal at Talavera. We sat outside and the view was spectacular. We shared several tapas dishes for an appitizer and ever one was very good. Our main courses were very good. The service was excellent!
Went for my husband's birthday. This restaurant has beautiful views of the McDowell Mountains that are just breathtaking especially as the sun begins to set. The interior of the restaurant exudes a simple but elegant old world warmth. The plates are very interesting; a clay representation of a battered black paper plate with a lacy doily design on the bottom. The service was very good. Out waiter described everything on the menu and was very friendly and accommodating. We started with sharing the Jamon Iberico, a 36 month old cured ham, similar but better than proscuitto. The pigs are only fed acorns and you can taste that nutty flavor. It is pricey but it is hard to find since not all Spanish restaurants have it. It was served with a blackberries mustard jam which accompanied it very well. We also shared the grilled asparagus salad which was very nice with marcona almonds. For entrees I had the Paella de Mariscos which was a large dish that had 1 very large prawn several small clams and about 5 or 6 very large mussels and small chucks of lobster. Very good but a little messy especially since the prawn was in the shell with thhead on. But it was enjoyable. My husband chose the Secreto Iberico de Bellota which is the pork shoulder again from the Iberian acorn fed pigs. He thoroughly enjoyed it and had saved some to take home but to our disappointment our waiter mustn't have remembered or didn't hear him and never brought it out to us and we were so relaxed and enjoying the evening so much we didn't even think of it until we left. The wine list is huge with wines at every price point some in the thousands of dollars to a few in the thirties. We choose the latter and it was a very good red from Italy. My husband was presented with a great dessert for his birthday a thin layer cake with chocolate icing which was very good. We finished the night with an Amaro and never felt rushed. Other than my husband not getting his leftovers it was a very enjoyable night.
We went there for our Wedding anniversary and the service and food were outstanding. Definitely plan on going back !
Thank you for everything. The food and atmosphere were great.
Been here multiple times. A special occasion place that has been ruined. New menu and ambience have ruined the special feeling. Extremely overpriced for what is now a very downscale average experience.
Ryan was a terrific waiter and Nick did a superb job managing!
Very disappointing compared with previous visits to the restaurant. The scallops were gritty; salmon very plain and the octopus appetizer was meager. The server was lost in space. The manager tried to make amends but his was always a very well enjoyed dining experience. No this time.
The restaurant was phenomenal. The staff was very accommodating, the food was lovely and you can’t beat the ambience. We even saw a Hollywood actor dining during out visit. It was my birthday and Talavera makes special occasions amazing.
What the heck happened to this place?? Our experience was horrible. The new menu is also horrible. The rib eye was dry and tough. The bronzino was tasty but extremely oily and for $60 it was absurd. Really, $60 for a piece and fish covered in oil? Nothing else on the plate. The side order of asparagus had 5 stalks. Outrageous even for the four seasons. The service was horrible. We were there for my wife’s bday and they did nothing to acknowledge the birthday. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK. A shame.
If you want great seafood, go to ocean prime. If you want great steaks go to Mastros. Avoid Talavera!!!!
Went to Talavera for the first time after decor and menu redone. Food quite good with varied Spanish menu. Only problem was that it was special occasion that they completely forgot. I told them it was my wifes birthday when I confirmed. After a very enjoyable salad and entree they asked about dessert. I requested a candle on the cake I ordered and they forgot. When I asked again they forgot again. They finally brought out a candle after a third reminder. On taking a pole of the table on whether we would return everyone said yes with some hesitation not due to quality of the food but more due to noise in the room and service quality.
I love how they have redone the restaurant and menu. Chef Samantha Sanz has brought Spanish cuisine in a most wonderful way to Scottsdale. As always exceptional service and a wonderful spot for a birthday or anniversary celebration. Try the Summer in Seville Special-It's delicious!
We had been to this restaurant three times before. However, on this visit we found out they had change the menu and we were not overly happy with it. However, the restaurant manager in server were so accommodating they were able to provide us with one of our favorite sides from their old menu. It’s great to have customer service like this.
Not sure which is better, the service or the view. Andre and Travis treated us like royalty and were fun to talk to. The food was spectacular and the portions were surprisingly large. We chatted with the table next to us because they were just as happy as we were with how Talavera is run. This wasn't just dinner, it was an experience.
Excellent and authentic Spanish tapas and dishes. Every dish we had was superb. We had two tapas-Lamb Meatballs and marinated and roasted octopus and both were incredible! Of course, paella is on offer and it was superb. But the signature dish in our mind was the Secreto Iberico de bellotta. It was one, if not the Best, pork roast I have ever had. The Iberico from Spain is amazing with a singular and savory nuttiness. Wine list is very good, but on the expensive side. Still, there is enough variety offered so you can find a wonderful bottle at a more moderate price. The place exudes charm and, well Spain! We went in July, but will definitely go back again in the milder months to dine outside. They have excellent out patio seating with great ambient lighting and breathtaking views of North Scottsdale and the Valley of the Sun. This place is unique and like a short trip to Valencia or Malaga. Go. You will love it, too!
Food was burnt beyond edible. Paella was terrible/ crunchy rice and under cooked calamari,
Amazing view. Incredibly wait staff. Food wasn’t groundbreaking, but satisfying. Great for a sunset dinner and drink.
While the food was delicious, the best part of our experience was the staff.
Helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and flexible. From confirmation of our reservation to the closing of our check our group had a fantastic experience.
The two front hosts were great to work with, as we had a large group, and our two servers were amazing.
And the view!....worth the drive.
Andre was our server and he was superb. We had not been to Talavera since they transitioned to a Spanish concept and his knowledge of the menu was broad and in depth. Everything was delicious, most notably the Paella del Campo and whole Branzino and the Albariño Andre selected was perfect.
