We have gone to Talavera around the holidays each year for the past 3 years. We went last night. Sadly, we won't be returning. Between inattentive service, short pours on overpriced drinks, and a menu that has changed dramatically there is no reason to return.
The service was outstanding. The menu changed recently to a Spanish menu.
We love Spanish food, and took our server's recommendations on the best menu items in the categories we were interested in enjoying. The food was not as good as we expected from a Four Seasons restaurant. The best thing we had was the pan de queso. The Spiced Lamb Meatballs next best. The Pulpo a la Plancha was just ok, and we love octopus. The jamon serrano had a lot of gristle. We decided not to order an entree at this point, so maybe we missed out on more enjoyable menu items.
The wine was outstanding, and a much better value than expected, as normally, markup would be much higher at a restaurant like this. I would go back for a bottle of wine and a nice view, but not as excited about the food.
With a new chef, menu and decor I feel the restaurant has taken a large step backward in all areas. Our waiter seemed almost unfamiliar with parts of the menu, most of the food was good, but not up to the standard we expected, and the decor is part Restoration Hardware, part cafeteria. With all of these factors, not a restaurant we'll return to, despite being 1/2 mile away.
the view was fantastic and food was excellent. It was birthday dinner for my daughter, and she was very pleased with everything.
The food was salty. The waiter was a bit rude and talked too much. Too dark inside. They changed their menu and theme. Now the place is quite poor. Terrible value for the expensive food. Sorry Talavera. You used to be great, now it stinks (technical term).
Food and service was good, but for this place being the nicest place to eat onsite at the resort, there should have been more ambiance. I was picturing a breath taking scenic view of the mountains with amazing first class food and service, fun music etc. instead there was Disney music and movies blasting loudly from below that was very distracting and not at all peaceful when we were trying to escape for a night away from our kids. I would not recommend this place to people dealing a nice high end meal. We moved tables (a different table left completely) and still the Disney noise was distracting.
This was a thanksgiving buffet , as buffets go it was nice. I have discovered that buffets have usually bland food so that they can cater to most tastes. This was the case, I would like to try their normal menu to get a true taste of the food.
Great ambiance! Service is fantastic! Our go to holiday dining destination!
Thanksgiving buffet was amazing. Our party of four enjoyed oysters, shrimp, scallop ceviche, crab/mango/avocado cocktail, charcuterie, wild mushroom risotto, salmon, prime rib and of course, turkey. Everything was beautifully presented. A wonderful experience.
The Four Seasons is a fabulous resort, however Talavera never seems to measure up. We dined this week. Food is interesting and great for vegetarians. However service is horrid. Our main server never explained the menu, seemed harried, and rarely checked on us. I expect impeccable service at these prices. Not sure I’ll be back.
The food, service, and the evening was very enjoyable. The paella was incredible. However the evening was marred by a large group that was extremely drunk and obnoxious, swearing profusely while we were trying to enjoy our dinner. For a high end resort and restaurant, you would have expected management to say something to the group before it got out of hand.
I’ve visited Talavera twice. The cuisine has changed, but the experience has not. Both visits, the food was delectable. The service was superb and the views, ambiance and setting were, without a doubt, unmatched. My most favorite dining experience to date!
Wonderful addition to the Scottsdale food scene. Chef Samantha Sanz brings her own yummy twist to Spanish cuisine. Excellent service from André!
Best Spanish restaurant in Arizona!!!
Excellent food and service
Our friends joined us from Michigan and we wanted to show them what Scottsdale has to offer. Excellent food and service. Thank you Ryan!
The view of the sun setting was spectacular from the patio table. The food was very good but I was so impressed with our sever Lorren. She was the best. Made the whole dining experience wonderful.
Really wonderful view of the mountains and as the lights start to come on in Phoenix you get one of the best views in the valley. That only makes the dining experience that much more special. The service is wonderful and you cannot go wrong with any of Chef Sanz's creations. I have been coming to this restaurant for about 5 years and I have never been disappointed.
Has a more casual atmosphere than before, new Chef with fun menu.
Expensive, but thats Scottsdale
No recognition at dinner of a previously announced birthday. Service was good but the menu has changed to a Spanish menu. No more bread with dinner, unless you want to pay for it. It was a poor experience for a special occasion. Having been there many times before we will not be returning.
Best place for dinner in town
We tried Televara new concept and loved it A bit more casual than prior concept but we loved it. A real alternative to the steakhouse and Italian restaurants out there. Can't wait to go back for the lamb meatballs.
This places is wonderful, great service and great food of course will be soon.thanks a lot.
We had a wonderful experience at Talavera. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the gorgeous view and then watched the setting sun. We both ordered the seafood paella and it was delicious. Five stars for this top Scottsdale restaurant!
Chose Talavera to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Had an amazing dinner that made a memory.
Excellent dinner. It's a bit of a drive, but well worth it.
My new favorite in Scottsdale
Everything seemed fine until we showed them the Phoenix fine dining card we would be using. We sat and saw other tables served wonderfully when I never got asked for a refill of my iced tea. Maybe they assumed we were cheap skates and figured we didn’t need proper service . Very sad
We were so smitten with everything about the new Talavera, we were planning our return visit half-way through dinner...it was that good! The room is gorgeous, the menu is vibrant and delicious, the vibe is just right and the service is Four Seasons...always top notch!
The martini was not cold and very expensive. My friend's salmon, which she ordered medium, was served rare. We had to flag down some staff member to find a server to tell. The place is beautiful, city lights, mountain view. The food is good but not excellent which was what we were expecting.
You may sit inside or out depending on the time of day and Az heat choose wisely. The views back over the valley and nearby hills is fabulously inviting. The seating is. Rey comfortable and widely spaced for reasonable conversations. The menu offers all the standards as well as a broad selection of tapas - and palleia. The service was. Rey friendly and well paced. For a high end hotel the prices were definitely reasonable.
Chef Sanz is a wonderful, creative chef that imbues all her menus with her love of food and her heritage. I love the seafood paella. The pulpo a la plancha is a longtime favorite and the pumpkin fideua is a new find. You cannot go wrong with anything you try at Talavera!
Fantastic experience! Outstanding staff and service!
We are major foodies and lived in San Francisco, Chicago and New York. This is the only restaurant in Scottsdale that is comparable to high end restaurants in the cities listed. Ryan, our server and Katherine the manager were fantastic in their care of us and others. The food is flavorful, approachable and exquisite. Compared to other Scottsdale high end restaurants, prices are more reasonable and Talavera has a wider selection of options. We will be there often now and recommend to all of our friends. WELL DONE!!!!
Fantastic atmosphere with excellent service! Food was great!
I had called ahead to find out what the entrees were for restaurant week. What they told me was not what we had available That was Very disappointing. I also told them it was our anniversary. It was never acknowledged the entire time we were there. Once we told our waiter that we wanted the restaurant week menu I felt we did not get the attention we should have.
We had an awesome experience. Ryan from the waitstaff was very knowledgeable and Mira who assisted was an absolute gem! Food was delicious and creative. The only thing to make it better would be to have by the glass wine pairing suggestions.
Thanks for an awesome meal and experience!
