Takorea Ratings and Reviews
We had three different tacos- beef, chicken and fish. All three were very tasty, however the fish tacos- which were “premium” had a lot less fish in them than the amount of protein in the either the beef or the chicken tacos. 1 beef and 1 chicken were a good dinner portion- 3 fish tacos was an ok portion.
It was my first visit, and I was very impressed. I loved the casual setting and the friendly staff. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced! I highly recommend the sesame fries and the fried sweet potatoes as starters. You can't go wrong with the KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) taco. They also have plenty of non-fried options if you're aiming for a healthier meal :)
I was highly disappointed. My friends and I chose to dine there because of the good reviews we'd read. I'm not sure why it got them as our food was room temperature at best. The taco portion was a joke. The quality of the food was not as good as a typical neighborhood Chinese spot. So not recommending it to anyone.
When we walked in, the restaurant was almost empty, yet the hostess seated us at the table directly next to the bathroom (yuck). We asked to sit somewhere else, so we moved to another table that we chose on the enclosed sundeck area, and this time, there were flies all around us. They handed us the menus which were filthy. I mean stains all over them. (Yuck again). I stopped at the bathroom and it was graffiti-laden and seriously needed cleaning/bleach. At this point I seriously considered leaving the restaurant, but I went through with it and stayed. We ordered the dumplings which were lackluster and didn't come out hot, and the chicken appetizer which was decent. We had the fried rice, which was good, the quesadillas, which sounded good on the menu but were bland and nothing special (literally cheese, chicken, and an egg between tortillas - no sauce/sauteed veggies/avocado/something!), and they barely came with any salsa or sour cream. Steer clear of the sangria. It tasted like a Bartels and James wine cooler with a couple pieces of fruit on the glass for garnish. It's the farthest thing from sangria I've ever had. The waiter came by to check on us once, which is OK, considering it's not like this is a high end restaurant. We asked how the dessert was, and the waiter said he didn't know, as he never tried it out. Word of advice - if you work at a restaurant, unless you have serious dietary restrictions - you need to know what everything tastes like and what to recommend. So we decided to try the bread pudding...and...how can you screw up bread pudding? Want to find out? Go to Takorea. If you are tight on cash and a college student or something, maybe this place is it. Overall, I would describe the place as "sticky." I literally felt sticky being in there.
My experience was awful!
The ATL Eats episode won me over but it was a sham! Both my wife & I order was totally wrong and the drinks sucked. The only thing I ate was the fries. Service was very slow, almost 30mins to receive the wrong order.
Totally waste of a Sunday evening!
The menu options offer an interesting take on mexican staples and definitely deliver on flavor and variety/ I was disappointed with my recent visit because it took in excess of 10 minutes to be waited on, the waiter didn't take our menus after we ordered, the food took a very long time to come out and both our appetizers and entrees were served at the same time. The worst part is the food was lukewarm, which robbed the excitement from the flavorful food. Looking forward to going back and having a better experience.
Had really slow service from a super-hyper server who really ought to be leading spin or step classes instead. We had an 11:30 reservation (they open at 11:30). We didn't get our appetizers until at least 12:15. Food came out shortly thereafter. I had asked for my bop egg to be well done (no runny yolk). When it came out runny, I asked for another one. Fast forward at least 10 minutes, and the new egg was runnier than the last. I gave up. (Apparently, after I left, my friends commented on the egg situation to the server, who rather shrugged and said, "Whelp, we tried." Oh.) And is it just me, or do the french fries taste an awful lot like any of the other fried meat items? As a vegetarian, that was a bit disappointing. I wouldn't return, but my friends still really like the place.
The worst service I have ever experienced. It took about 20 mins for our server to acknowledge us and that's only because we asked. Don't be surprised if you go to order a drink and are told they are out of the ingredients or out of it in general. Example, they were out of 4 liquor drinks we tried to order and then we're also out of Miller lite?! What restaurant/bar runs out of Miller?! When it was 10 pm the bar tender can to our table and literally kicked us out. She told us she couldn't have us there while she counted the cash drawer. What kind of restaurant kicks paying customers out? Save yourself the time and money and go to poor calvins instead. Way better food and a way better experience than this place
I like visiting Takorea a lot. Food and drinks are delish and atmosphere is cozy. Server was really nice, but overwhelmed. She was super busy and our service was incredibly slow. Took forever to take orders and refill drinks. Bummer on the timing, as we were there for 2 hrs for what was going to be a quick dinner and missed part of the show we were attending later that evening.
Service was fairly bad. Our first three beer choices were unavailable and it took 10 minutes to finally get a drink. We asked for brown rice and received white. Not enough utensils and we had to get up and ask for some before food was cold. Not much room on the table and staff was not conscious enough to clear empty plates.
