I have been to the rooftop beer garden multiple times for happy hour and drinks at night and I am a big fan but I was not as impressed by the brunch The service and atmosphere were fine but the food was lackluster. I ordered the egg white omelet that came with a bowl of fruit. The omelet was comically small and the small fruit bowl was barely filled halfway. I mean come on.. how much does it cost the restaurant to use one or two more eggs for the omelet so that it doesn't look like a kids meal? I also ordered the omelet with sausage added and they gave me the sausage on the side.. probably because the omelet was too small for sausage to fit inside. That being said, my parents got the brisket hash which they enjoyed. I had part of the breakfast sandwich which was okay. I will certainly be back to the rooftop and may give the food another try but with so many restaurants in the city, I will likely look elsewhere for a meal.
My husband and I frequently came here for dinner - a quick burger and a beer. This place has gone downhill. Came for brunch with a large group of friends. The food was poor (cold, did not come out together, not fresh, or of key ingredients without notice) and the food for our group did not come out together. It’s a shame, but won’t be back.
THEY RAN OUT OF FOOD!!! WORST PLACE EVER!!! DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!
Wow, we can't speak highly enough of Takoda brunch!! We booked a large group reservation for a birthday party. When our group was a bit larger than expected, the staff gladly brought over another table to add to the end of ours to accommodate the group. The owner came over and wished our friend a happy birthday, and the staff was friendly, energetic, and lots of fun. The food was AWESOME, the bottomless drinks were always full, the playlist was perfect and we felt very welcome. We will most definitely be back!
I was really looking forward to having the red velvet pancakes, but taste-wise they were no good. They also were very overpriced for 2 small thinly-fluffed pancakes.
We had a large party and the exact number of guests changed fairly last minute which was very graciously accommodated by Phil the manager when I spoke to him via phone a day or two in advance.
I had never been to this restaurant before and was pleased with the menu, the atmosphere, and the fact that we were able to make small changes to our reservation without issue.
Our server was particularly rude though. We were her only table and surprisingly the restaurant was pretty quiet considering we were in prime brunch time. There was no reason for her to be short with us or leave our empty glasses unattended. Otherwise or experience was great and I would come back again.
Overall just a fine experience. Service was good, food was good, drinks were good, just felt like it all could have been a little better. Mac and cheese was awesome, but only having the choices of burger v salmon v salad as entree options was meh. Way to expensive for a salad, I’ll go back but definitely for Happy Hour/apps over dinner.
We had a rather large group (12 of us) together to celebrate a friend's birthday, making the reservation online was easy and the food was great, highly recommend the nachos! The service wasn't fantastic, we were rarely checked on and our drink orders took awhile to get out and couple of ours were actually forgotten and had to be reordered - but again, it was a large group of us with a later reservation so the restaurant was already pretty busy. Will definitely go again, and would recommend for smaller groups!
The food is average pub food. Could be way better. Roof top is nice so maybe skip the meal and just drink
Reading the reviews about how terrible the service is, I assumed the restaurant must have fixed that problem. They have not. There was one server for 6 tables and he disappeared for 10 minutes at a time. However, there were several managers and bar tenders who thrived at standing around doing nothing. Also, I bought a round of drinks for $88 and they came in plastic cups. I'll never go back.
Good service and great food!
The experience was fantastic! We are still stuffed from the hardy portions and cannot wait to go again.
Brunch was delicious! Our waiter kept my bottomless mimosa truly bottomless. Great service and food was super tasty.
Food was good. I was a bit sad that the menu items had just changed becuase I already had my mind set on chicken and waffles. Since that was no longer an option, I went with the breakfast sandwich with a side of tots. It did not disappoint. Our server was the absolute best! She was very attentive and gave us lots of feedback on menu items. We were a table of 6 and everyone was pleased.
I had a great brunch experience at Takoda. The food was amazing would highly recommend the skillet mac and cheese as well as the grilled vegetable flatbread. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting, the only complaint would be that our server was not that attentive. I went with a group of my friends (college kids) and I think he didn't pay as much attention to us because of that. Otherwise would definitely go back , it was a total bang for my buck ! Will be back soon
Brunch on Sunday was disappointing for a few reasons. Our server was new did not know the menu and was not responsive. They over booked the reservations without telling us in advance as a result closed our bill for us without telling us then continued to ignore our attempts to order more food or refill our bottomless mimosas within the 2 hour time frame because a new reservation was coming in. Then told us that we had to vacate the booth to sit at the bar after ignoring us for 45 minutes. A disappointing ending to a mediocre food establishment.
Restaurant was 30 min late on our table reservation, server had a very bad entitled attitude and have very poor service. Menu was disappointing and food portions were small. They also added 18% gratuity to the tab. We won't be going back.
The mac and cheese and the red velvet pancakes are to die for! The beertop garden is absolutely stunning and I love to see what people are doing down below.
Saturday Brunch with the family and the food was delicious. The staff was super friendly and the bottomless mimosas were awesome. The atmosphere is very cool and so was the interior design of the restaurant. Will definitely be going again.
Love the food, the atmosphere was good . Wish the waiter could if told us "last call for the mimosa" especially when we had reservations at 2:30 didn't get seated till 3:00.
This was my friends and I's first time trying this restaurant. Overall we had a good time. The food was brought to us in a timely manner and it was fresh. The views were nice and there was a lot of lighting inside. The only complaint I think we had was that the mimosas were entirely too strong (who complains about straight champagne right?)They weren't mixed with enough orange juice so we had to request a side of orange juice to properly mix them and actually enjoy them. We would definitely go back though!
Terrible service and average food. Cool atmosphere and location.
The food was great! Server was pleasant and helpful with choosing dinner. Overall great experience will be returning.
The staff was so friendly and the atmosphere was perfect.
Great service and really delicious blackened salmon. The host and the server were so
Nice and attentive!
Went in to the restaurant on a Saturday night, slightly before 9. Restaurant was fairly full, but the service was ... discombobulated, to put it nicely. After we were sat, a server filled our water and said he'd be right back to take drinks. He left, never to return. Three different people came to ask if we'd been helped. We weren't. Bartender eventually took drink orders, then another person (trainee server? manager? he wasn't in "uniform") took food order. Put order in, but then came back a few minutes later to ask how we'd like ribs (?) and burger cooked. Our original server eventually returned (huzzah!), bearing ribs and a disappointingly raw burger, which had to be sent back. Ribs were fine, but server continually asked if we wanted a box before the re-cooked burger was even brought back. Once it was cooked, burger was actually quite good. Second round of drinks ordered. One drink came, and one sat at the end of the bar while passing servers looked at it in confusion as if to say "who ordered this?" The drink eventually made it to our table after I pointed it out to our server who was walking to another table. Disappointing experience in the restaurant.
The food here was good. They said they were out of the tots when we tried to order them on the side but they came with my chicken sandwich. I was really looking forward to this place bc of their fried oreos but we were so frustrated by their lack of service that i forgot to order them. The service was the absolute worst. A nice lady came to take our drink order and said our server would come next. Our drinks took over 45 mins to get to out table and that was only bc we checked in on them and then they decided to tell us something was wrong with their slush maker. Overall this place seemed fun to grab drinks with friends but service for our table and severely lacking. I noticed tables that came after us were served way before us so it was overall frustrating, especially because i booked the table in advance.
I love Takoda; it has an amazing roof top, extensive selection of beers and cocktails and I've always been impressed if/when I've ordered food. That being said, I was very disappointed with the service when we had brunch there this past weekend. I made a reservation a few days before, and while they sat us down immediately upon our arrival, we did not receive any menus for the first 15 minutes. When we did receive the menus, we went ahead and put in our drink orders. Another 10 minutes pass and our waitress brings by one small jug of water to serve 6 people, but no other drinks. Finally the drinks arrive and the ordered bottomless went ahead and ordered their second drink so it'd arrive by the time the food did - and thank God they did because that is exactly what happened: the second mimosas were delivered with our entrees. During this entire time, our waters remained empty. It did seem like there was only one waitress working all of the tables on the second floor, but the lack of attentiveness was extreme. The fastest thing she delivered was our check but then it took her another 20 minutes to come and pick up our cards. The food was totally fine, but I'm not sure it's worth the wait and I'm definitely not sure $20 for bottomless mimosas is worth it since you're probably going to run out of time and only get two drinks in total.
The waiter was alright, she could've been a little more attentive
Food was okay but service was terrible. Took 15 to be be brought water, waitress forgot to place food orders, soda was flat, and manager wasn't much help. Food took so long we asked for a box and the check before the dish waitress forgot to order even got to the table. Wouldn't go back.
Awesome atmosphere/vibe. Great selection of cocktails, wines, and of course, beer with many local brews to try. The service is also attentive and friendly. However, as for the food, there was nothing exceptional. The flatbread preparation was creative but that's about it. We were excited about the rosemary parmesan tater tots but they were just okay. The blackened salmon was dry and bland. The grilled chicken sandwich was not grilled; it too was blackened and dry. The mac & cheese was just meh. Recommend for just drinks.
Really nice atmosphere and great food/drinks! Just FYI that the portions are BIG!! We were really happy with the overall experience. We did not make it to the rooftop as it was 100 degrees, but I've heard the rooftop is great!
The drinks and apps are great. The entrees aren't the best. Definitely go to the roof when you're there!
Great food, went for birthday brunch. Drinks were nice and strong!
Service was pretty slow though very nice servers. I got the red velvet pancakes, eggs and bacon and it was great. My friends weren't too pleased with their orders and sometimes it took repeating to finally get the items a we ordered.
Two of us had brunch on a Sunday at noon. Service was very slow and seemed overwhelmed. Our food took a long time. Eventually the manager came by to apologize and comp our table, which was appreciated. When it finally arrived the food was a little cold, but still good. I have had better experiences at Takoda previously. Appreciated the response by the manager but was overall unhappy with the experience.
I was not impressed and will never return.
the service seemed a bit disorganized, but the rooftop is fantastic and the food is decent. great spot to go before or after a movie at atlantic plumbing :)
Food was great and drinks were good, unfortunately they were grossly understaffed for a Sunday bottomless brunch. We sat on the roof, with about 7 other tables, 2 of which were groups of ~6, doing bottomless drinks. The deal itself is great. However there was only one waiter for the entire area. We received food very slowly, were asked for our order after 25 minutes. The bartender ended up bringing us most of our mimosas. I would go back in the hopes they fixed their staffing situation.
First time here for Saturday brunch and I was not impressed at all. The only good thing worth mentioning was the drink I ordered, "Summer is Here" which was great (kudos to the bar tender) but the food was basic/below par. I initially ordered the Blueberry Pie French toast and it came out burnt. Although you can clearly see that every slice was charred they still brought it over, I proceeded to try it just in case it maybe dark due to cooking with the blueberry compote, however, after tasting it I confirmed it was just burnt. On top of that, it wasn't thick slices as it stated on the menu so I decided to send it back and order the red velvet pancakes instead. The pancakes were okay, I was expecting them to come with the cream cheese filling pouring out as advertised online in the menu but instead I got about 1 teaspoon worth of the cream cheese filling, that I had to "inspect" was even on there by lifting up the pancake (resembled a slice of butter stuck in between two giant pancakes). The service was terrible being that they forgot parts of our order when they brought our food and when we brought it up it took over 15 minutes to get back to us. Overall, the hostess was pleasant just inattentive.
