Takami Sushi & Robata Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
What a great last-second find. It was my wife's birthday and we wanted to try somewhere we'd never been so we headed to Takami. The view first and foremost was incredible! You could see for miles. The sushi was also tremendous. It's a bit expensive but you can taste why. Everything is SO fresh and the ingredients used were blended both creatively and perfectly. Yet another sushi restaurant to add to my roster where I can bring out of town guests. Definitely a good choice for adult birthdays, anniversaries, out of town adult guests, etc. May not be the best environment for children, I'm sure the menu would be fine for kids of all ages, I say this solely off of the more quiet noise level and intimate feel of the place.
We were in town for the Rose Bowl.
We are a couple of late fifty early sixty year old middle Tennessean couples. Party of 4.
New to sushi. Went to takami on recommendation of the concierge at Omni.
We could not have been more delighted..
What a great way to spend an early New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles with friends.
Restaurant had trouble with the third party billing system and embarrassed our host, both server and manager stating he had not payed at the table in front of our guests, though he had received an emailed receipt. The manager called and wrote with a sincere apology afterward. The technology allows payment at the table. I hope they can get it worked out.
First time dining here, took my girl for her birthday overall very nice place great service food good but very small portions. It felt like getting a few appetizers after ordering main dish, not somewhere I would dinner in often maybe special occasions or business.
We made reservations here at the last minute, for dinner with the kids after the Disney on Ice show. Seating style was perfect for the kids, comfortable and not too close to others. Our server was very helpful in making recommendations, very attentive and responsive to our needs. We had a variety of sashimi and rolls, as well as the beef, chicken and seabass robata. The California roll and the chicken teriyaki were perfect for the kids. The manager of the restaurant overhead my son ask why there was no rice that came with the chicken, and he brought out a bowl of rice w/o having to ask. The highlight of the night was the toro! Absolutely amazing! Fresh and melted like butter. It was well worth the price.
Overall the experience was just OK. Let me start by saying we made a reservation on a Sunday night, that was clearly not busy. That being said I hoped that making a reservation would be taken with seriousness. However, it was not. Making a reservation at a place on a not so busy night for a special occasion you hope to get a desirable spot, but here that was not what happened. We made a reservation for 7 on Sunday at 6 and we’re seated inside away from the outside, where people obviously come to sit being that it is the main attraction for this place. I would have understood if it was busy but there was not many people and the rest were walkups. This spot is obviously special for the locale and being seated where we were was just a disappointment.
After that being said, the service was lackadaisical and totally slow. We had to wait long amounts of time in between appetizers ordered at the same time. For how much money we spent this is unacceptable. I would have been treated better at an Olive Garden. If you want a nice view and not a worry about time this is your place.
Very nice Ambiance and nice view of downtown Los Angeles. The food was very good and not too pricey. The drinks were great. The server was very good, but gone for long periods and we had to wait a bit long for a second glass of water... couldn't find her anywhere.
One and done. Food is okay overall however not a great value. Prices have to be higher due to the location. However the quality of the food and service leave much to be desired.
The Manager is engaged and seems eager to please and on top of his game. Our wait staff however was rude and condescending when we expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of the service.
This was not a pleasant experience. We felt like we were forgotten about and our waters remained empty most of the night. We were there for a birthday celebration and it put a damper on the mood.
I don’t go to an expensive restaurant for a celebration to be treated poorly.
