Great food, great service, great views, great vibes!
Was very much looking forward to trying this place out. Sushi is one of my favorite cuisines, and this looked like a real winner. The staff was incredibly friendly and prompt with service, so I have no complaints there.
The food was, unfortunately, underwhelming. It wasn't bad at all, but it just sort of mediocre. For the price we paid (over $130 for 3 rolls and dessert) I would expect much higher quality. I'm not sure if we just didn't get the right rolls or what, but there wasn't much flavor, even for some standard specialty rolls that are typically hard to disappoint. I didn't end up finishing the sushi, it was just too bland.
Overall, the experience wasn't bad and the food was okay. But the prices are very steep for what you get. I will say the cocktail we got and the dessert was great.
Good food. Good ambience. Good service. I recommend Takami!
Terrible service. They did not know what were available or unavailable from their own menu!!! Ordered draft beers which they recommended and after 20 minutes later, they came back telling us that those beers were not available, asking us to pick another one. Same situation with foods. Ordered a bunch of sushi pieces and again, 20 - 30 minutes later, they told us that 3-4 pieces were not available. Worst of all, we also ordered a bottle of sake with our foods and did not get the bottle until the end of our dinner. They gotta get their act together.
The food was great and the view of Downtown was amazing. We had a great server too. Would recommend dining here again.
It was nice food and service. The music was too loud for the setting.
Staff was very very accommodating and professional. Food was first class and had many choices. Views spectacular.
The sea bass , steak and scallops were amazing! Great service as well!
Both food and service was very good. With that being said, tables were not convenient to sit 6 adults. Needed ventilation to cool down the sitting area. Restrooms were not clean.
Packed restaurant. Too noisy bc of construction and loud music.. Server took a while to come back to put in our dinner order. Waiter put in our drink order while we waited for our dinner table to be ready which was great!
I was there celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday first time and they did not disappoint. The service was excellent from the host to our waiter and even the manager took time with us. The food was super delicious and was quick to come out. Even when I got a “little critter” as the manager called it on my wine. They got me a new drink and the manager himself brought it out to share some funny anecdotes with us. I will definitely recommend this place for any occasion. I will be coming back.
Amazing food and great ambience for a night out and/or celebration for any occasion!
All employees of Takami were so welcoming and provided excellent service.
RC, the bartender was terrific. He makes the best martinis. The gin & tonic was served with an orchid floating on top!
The happy hour was amazing, we ordered ceviche and spicy tuna roll, bar bites were $7 each. Glasses of wine $6.
A fabulous view of Downtown LA from the 21st floor.
So happy they have reopened. Takami is still one of my all time favorite dining spots!
Great restaurant. Delicious, high quality food, beautiful views and amazing service!
We came to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Our server Glen was OUTSTANDING!! The food was AMAZING! We will be back🤗🥂
So much better than the last time I had dinner with them... Better service, much nicer and they really step up.
Ambience is nice! Ask for the table u’d like to sit at. Our table sucked even though they had plenty of seats with a great view. People didnt want to sit near us cause our view was terrible. I overheard the guests asking for a better table. Host suggested that we should ask if better seats are available. We were just hungry and settled. Food is good enough but definitely can be better. They were short staffed but our server tried. Place looks run down especially when you are headed to the restrooms. Ordered the angus steak filet, robata new york steak, takami rolls, crispy rice appetizer (that was not pretty). They need to polish up their dishes. Doesnt look appetizing especially that crispy rice appetizer. All burnt up! Joeys DTLA is way better on the crispy rice. Food presentation is meh. Had the eggroll dessert. That was good but portion sizes at this restaurant is skimpy esp on the ice cream. They could do way better in everything but they have the views.
Food was some of the worst sushi I’ve had in a long time. The edamame was room temp and felt old, the salad I got had a teaspoon of dressing and seemed like they just opened up bagged lettuce and dumped it in a bowl, and my sushi was mostly rice. Won’t be back.
Great views of DTLA, Sushi was great tasting and fresh, drinks were mixed well, and not too expensive.
Beyond exceeded our expectations! The food was fresh, delicious and came out within a very synchronized manner. The ambiance is beyond stellar!
I’m so glad I finally came to try Takami! Make sure you try the stuffed shishito peppers and the Takami roll.
Food was so subpar - tried sushi and even the actual entrees both sabpar but the vibe was great, nice view.
The service was excellent. That staff is always great. One of my favorite places to eat. Always welcoming thank you
It was our first time there and the server was very nice and even offered suggestions based off of our preferences. Would definitely go again !
Immaculate vibes, below average food and service. Come for drinks and a roll.
The only bad thing was they were out of crab so a lot of stuff I wanted I couldn’t have. Overall good experience.
I would recommend this to other people.
The best sushi the best service
Mediocre food at best. Service was okay. They were out of lobster, toro, and coffee.
Loved it! Reservations were easy with Open Table. Parking was fast, and fair price for Downtown LA. Easy walk from valet to entrance. I called ahead that we were running 10 minutes behind due to Dodger Game traffic, got our table as soon as we arrived. Awesome seating and views. Our waitress was friendly, informative and
checked on us often. Drinks and sushi were good. They even accommodated me when I asked for a change in a sushi roll. Great evening!
I arrived at 6pm on a Saturday, and it was surprisingly not yet full. This was my first time at Takami—I was looking for a sushi place to treat my partner for his birthday.
As it was just the two of us, we were seated next to the open-air windows. Our server James was such a gentleman—he happily gave us suggestions, and was very attentive. At some point another server accidentally gave us the wrong appetizer and us, not knowing better, ate it. James came over when we were already like 2/3rds done with it and apologized, giving us our proper appetizer and saying it wouldn’t be charged.
The food was delicious! I haven’t been to fancier sushi places, so my tastebuds might be more on the impressionable side. We both really enjoyed the appetizers and sushi (get the crab roll!)
My partner is lactose-intolerant, so I was worried they wouldn’t have any birthday desserts for him. Not a problem! James brought over a raspberry sherbet that absolutely made our eyes pop out cause of how surprisingly delicious it was for a sherbet! And free of charge!
Overall, my partner was really happy we ate there. James was a fantastic server. I would happily go back there!
We really enjoyed our dinner at Takami. The food was delicious, bartender was great and funny and staff were super.
Food and service was great
The food was outstanding, and our server was amazing. There was some waiting on our drinks from the bar, but our server did her best to compensate and when the drinks came, they were very good. I appreciate the ability to accommodate food sensitivities, and they had good information on the menu regarding these preferences. When we arrived we did not have reservations so the hostess couldn’t seat us at a table. She offered that we could sit at the bar, but not at the table. I went onto Open Table and was able to get a reservation immediately as I was standing there, and then she sat us at a table. I felt it was odd that she didn’t want to seat us as we were there in person, tables were open and available and reservations were not fully booked.
Have been three times in the last two month and they never have lobster rolls :( I’ve called ahead and am told the lobster rolls are limited and if I’m the first to get there I will get some but I’ve been there at opening and they’re sold out...
Second time here and unfortunately the service the second time was awful and leaves me no interest in returning.
Happily surprised by this amazing jewel rooftop DTLA sushi restaurant…great atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service. Will definitely return 🥰
The food are no tasty and the price is over priced. The fish of the sushi is not fresh, the grilled beef is over cook and the quality of the meat is very bad.
Sushi was amazing. The skyline was amazing. And the churro waffle is a must! Definitely going again soon. Parking was also very convenient and the prices were decent
Been here a few times before the Pandemic & experience was always good.
This was our first time since last year. As always the food & service was excellent.
However the experience was marred before we even made it into the restaurant.
Downtown traffic being unpredictable, we ended up arriving around 5:45pm for our
6:00pm reservation. TAKAMI made it a point that we only had a 15 minute grace period.
Came to the Valet parking area & no one was there. I let my wife out & circled around the
block several times. After circling several times, I tried calling the restaurant to ask where
to park. Recording only, no answer.
Called my wife, to have her ask. She told me they wouldn't let her in till 6:00pm.
Looked for any parking. All lots full. Circled around the block a few more times
Finally at 6:01pm a comes out the Alley carrying a Valet desk & sign.
Unless you are Ubering or live close by. Don't make a reservation when they open at 6:00pm. You'll get stuck like me. Very frustrating
