Outstanding as always - go to sushi option in town....
Our Open Table reservation for 4 was honored upon our arrival...eventhough the restaurant was quite busy. We had requested Omakase (Japanese phrase meaning “I’ll leave it up to you”)) under special requests in the Open Table reservation. Our server greeted us and immediately confirmed we were the party that requested “Omakase dining”... we ordered a selection of Japanese beers to share and a bottle of Negori sake ( white sake served cold that is dry but slightly sweet at the end) because it is very good with any Japanese food.
We ordered appetizers to split of Japanese tempura okra and Hamachi Kama ( cooked halibut collar bone ), that is very rare, very authentic, and wonderful. Very meaty and 1 order was plenty to share.
Omakase at Taka is 6 - 8 - or 10 small plate or bowl courses for each person. No need share as everyone is served the same item in each course. The Items are flavorful and creative, and leave you looking forward to the next small course.
Courses are served at an even pace, allowing time for conversation, enjoying beverages, but no time lag between the courses. The courses were filling but not overly. The price, considering everything ordered, was reasonable. Taka, the owner and creative chef, came over to introduce himself and make sure we enjoyed everything. I thought it was a nice touch. He is very nice and polite, Japanese gentleman.
We have dined at Taka Sushi several times and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend Taka Sushi for casual, fine and authentic Japanese dining.
Another amazing meal at Taka. Fresh fish. Great recommendations.
Great food, got the octopus several types of sushi as well as the sea urchin from Japan very good.
Taka's sushi improves all of the time! The servers are so friendly. We always love coming here, and it is so close by.
Food is OUTSTANDING !!! BUT service is just as OUTSTANDING.. The attitude of the staff is warm and helpful.. It is obvious they want you to enjoy what they are so obviously proud of .....
Fantastic food and service. What a great place to dine!!
Taka is very special and his food superb! The entire staff is fabulous.
Food was great. And the server was knowledgeable
Taka makes every meal a work of art. Taka truly is Sushi and Passion!
My family loves Taka - though I think of it more of a date night dining experience. The kids are always welcomed and treated special. We've been Taka fans from Pharr days to now. Like the new location - wish the lighting was a little dimmer inside to give it some ambiance. Otherwise, the food is some of the best in Atlanta for sushi "truists"
Anniversary dinner! Taka never disappoints! It was our first time at the new location. Still amazing as always.
The beer could have been colder and this place does not have the "traditional" small beer glasses! We used the water glasses instead, which was fine. The sake could have been a bit warmer (hot sake should be hot). Himachi was fresh and tender. Rice was fine, but not great. Service was very attentive. My company was outstanding as was our conversation!
Quick, delicious, and kind people! What more could you ask for?
Been a fan of taka for many years from Pharr Road. New location has excellent service and great specials. Great to have in the neighborhood.
Greeted at the table with a hot towel and from there it continued with wonderful rolls and hot tea. Food was fresh and colorful. The service was great.
Fish is high quality and fresh. Service was very good.
Delicious, and we’re pretty picky on sushi. Their dumplings are great too.
Outstanding variety and quality. The Sushi Chef is the proprietor and nothing gets by that is not perfect.
I'm so glad I chose Taka Sushi! This was the first time my boyfriend had ever had sushi and he is still raving about how delicious it was. The service was wonderful and so was the food. Everyone should go here!
Love Taka. Great local sushi for family or date night.
The Sushi was fresh and the noodles were fantastic! We had great wine and service was great too.
Very good choices and attentive waitstaff We are very much looking forward to going back.
They ran out of uni and scallop
Our go to neighborhood sushi restaurant.
I had not been to the new location since moving from Pharr Rd. Larger space now which is helpful. Food and service is excellent as it always is. The hamachi kama is delicious
Some of the best sushi in the city! Sit the sushi bar and watch these guys create their best! Also suggest asking Chef Taka to do a chef recommended meal! You won’t be disappointed!
Great sushi! Excellent service.
We had the Omakase, expensive but well worth it. The waitress explained each course as it came out and each one was uniquely different.
I was a huge fan of Taka when it was on Pharr Road and though the new location is now inconvenient for me, I will continue to go. It is simply the best.
This is a true sushi place with some standard Japanese dishes on the menu. Sushi and sashimi was excellent as was the friendly and helpful service. If you like sushi this is the place to when in north side Atlanta
Taka is always great. Great selection of premium fish, sakes and Izakaya dishes.
Taka Sushi is always good, whether lunch or dinner.
Food was great, but like most nicer sushi restaurants, is not inexpensive. Indoor seating is somewhat limited. Lots of outdoor seating, but outside seating not very desirable when Atlanta is 90+ degrees & 100% humidity. Service was very friendly, but was slow or uneven at times (e.g., too much time between table visits, especially for a sushi restaurant where "add on" orders are common). Beer list should be much better in Atlanta. Wouldn't be that hard to add non-Japanese beers to the menu. Japanese IPA was $8.50 & was mediocre. Stick to Japanese lager/pilsner styles with current beer menu.
I'm a bit of a sushi snob, having relocated to ATL from Seattle. While you can get great sushi here, it's typically pricey. Taka did not disappoint; had as good a sushi as those Buckhead places, and was moderately-priced to boot.
We had such high hopes based on the reviews. However, we were disappointed. The sushi was at best average in quality. The service was excellent and quick.
Love their new location. Lovely outdoor patio and beautiful restaurant. Really fresh sushi.
If it's just one or two of you, sit at the sushi bar and let Taka prepare his special. you'll be glad you did!
ˌōməˈkäsā,ōˈmäkəsā/ (in a Japanese restaurant) a meal consisting of dishes selected by the chef.
"we had the five-course omakase"
Really good quality nigiri, especially the yellowtail. The rolls were not too exciting. We had a short rib rice bowl that was weird but good enough that we ordered one to go.
