Taj Mahal appears to be a family run affair. At least that's what I gathered when greeted by a hostess who might not even be in her teens yet! This charming, pretty little girl led me to a table and a grown server took over. I ordered a chicken dish and was able to get it mild--I'm not into spicy food. There were some paintings on the wall of landmarks in India. The restaurant was small and quiet. There were other diners at the time, but they faded into the background. That might be a good point if you go there on a date!
Staff was very nice, but not enough of them. Wait for food was very long. Food was lackluster and in my opinion over priced because of the area.
I feel the owners are onto something good but it's just not there yet.
Good Indian food. We had several dishes family style and they all tasted great. Service is a touch slow, but not too bad.
My family and I go frequently to Irlando, but we discovered this restaurant only recently. The service was great. Very friendly and helpful waiter. The owner was also very gracious and came to the table to greet us. The food was delicious. I eat at Indian restaurants often when I visit DC, which offers great Indian restaurant choices and the Taj Mahal in Orlando can compete with the best in DC.
Yes, we had our doubts upon entering the restaurant. Yes, we hesitated when we saw the pricing. And, yes, we thought twice about giving our order to a waiter reeking of body odor, but we proceeded. BAD MOVE! This was, without a doubt, the worst Indian food I've ever eaten, and I love Indian cuisine and have eaten it all over the world. The samosas were icebox cold in the center, informed the smelly waiter and he shrugged and left them on the table (and on the bill!) Surely the Chicken Tikka Masala would be acceptable, but no. Bland and void of the richness one would expect from this common dish, though eatable, not enjoyable. The vegetable dish was no more than tomatoes, peppers, onions, and frozen peas, carrots and celery. YUCK. $100+!?!
I was in Orlando for business and searching for an Indian Restuarant in the area. It was my luck day, as I found this outstanding place on Open Table. It was outstanding for the food quality and service. The Chicken Tikka Masala was one of the best that I have had across the US and the service of both the server and owner were second to none. I truly enjoyed the flavor of the food and my experience there and highly recommend this place to all. Thank you for a great dinner!!
Worst pakoras, nans, and chicken tika masala--sad
Great Indian food. Very helpful staff. Remember to ask for the level of spiciness that you want.
Took awhile to get our food and bill but the food was good and the servers were very kind. Just wouldn't recommend if you're in a hurry. It's also a bit pricey although I wouldn't call it overpriced. If you're looking for a cheap bite to eat (like a T.G.I Friday meal) then I'd pass, but otherwise if you aren't a cheapo and aren't in a hurry, it's good food!
Of all the Indian restaurants I've dined at around the world I'd give this one the lowest rating. The food had very little taste, and the well meaning server tried his best to make things right, but the kitchen kept that from happening. Skip it.
