Taj Indian Cuisine
Taj Indian Cuisine is the best way to "Experience Indian Hospitality".
Best Indian Cuisine in the Portland Area. Every time I bring someone to try Indian food for the first time, they leave wanting to come back the next day. Love your food, please stay in the area!!!!!
Excellent to ask for mild if you're sensitive to spice and you can also get it as spicy as you like if you adore it. Great for all palates!
I loved the food and the service of this restaurant.
Staff and food were excellent. Very personable and attentive. We will definitely be back!!!
Great server, explained all the menu options, informed on gluten free options.
WE BOTH HAVE EATEN THERE BEFORE, BUT MUST HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW GOOD THEIR FOOD WAS. ON THIS OCCASSION WE WENT BEFORE A MOVIE ON DATE NIGHT. WE TOOK HOME A MENU AND WILL BE BACK. OTHER THAN ONE LOUD GRANDFATHER CELEBRATING A BIRTHDAY TELEPHONE CALL, WE HAD A VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. IT IS WELL WORTH THE DRIVE FROM BARRHAVEN WHERE WE LIVE.
Food is amazing; family run and just the best indian food! Love the eggplant dish and would kill for the recipe. The Aloo Tikki Chat is also one of our faves!
So many wonderful things to say about Taj Indian Cuisine!
When you walk in you're greeted by a cheerful husband and wife, with warm colours and lighting it's a very cozy atmosphere. I've been here a few times but I always accept their recommendations as everything they've brought me is always the most amazing tastes ever! They offer mild or spicy, vegetarian/vegan or meat, everything exploding with flavour! Best na'an you've ever tasted. Ever.
My recommendations would honestly be to just talk to the owners (who are also the servers, incredible ones at that!) they will bring you something you'll adore no matter what your tastes or restrictions are! I am always leaving this place in a blissful food coma❤️
Owner very frienfly And obliging , great food, Just across from Cineplex theatre, cosy And attentive service
The food was mediocre. Beef kabobs was ground beef. The service was ok as there was little patrons.
This gem was recommended to me and my friend and I were extremely pleased. Definitely will be back. Wonderful service and amazing food. Great dinner and movie location!
The food was great however the service was mediocre /Got there and had to wait for our friends to arrive which was fine/ In the interim we were sitted and the server disappeared without asking if we wanted to start with a light appetizer in the meantime; In addition he did not offer us water while we waited/ In my opinion he didn't seem like he wanted to be there or might be he didn't want to serve our table/I'm very big on service when I go to restaurants/ I will definitely not be going back there solely because of the service as I feel that they should make patrons feel welcome
Food is excellent with a good variety of choices. Friendly environment.
I can't express how much we enjoyed ourselves at this restaurant. Our hosts clearly take so much joy and pride in what they do... It shows in every aspect of what they do. We went twice during our short stay in Ottawa - both for the wonderful food and the wonderful people.
No question. This is the best butter chicken in Ottawa. And everything else we had, right through to dessert, was excellent, too.
My family of 5 ate here and had a great experience. The food was delicious and not having had Indian Cuisine but once before, we were given great advice by the owner and as a result enjoyed a very nice evening. The hospitality was outstanding!! We'll be back!
Taj is the best Indian cuisine I've had in Ottawa, and that's saying a lot. It is a family owned gem that has been around (to my understanding) for over 15 years. The owner and our server seemed to be the father, I did not recall his name but his service and friendliness cannot be beat. From the beginning, he remembered my name through a phone call we had earlier the week regarding out Valentines Dinner Buffet reservation. And placed our seats, asked us for our drink of preference and had decorated our table in a lovely fashion. The food has always been spectacular, and was delighted to find out that the taste was just the same for the Valentines Buffet. Fantastic atmosphere, unbeatable customer service and delicious food. Taj on Carling simply cannot be beat
I have been going here on and off for several years. This past visit was the first in many years and the food is still of exceptional quality and the service is excellent. The owner is very helpful and amenable to adjusting dishes to accommodate special dietary requirements (we had gluten, peanut allergy and vegetarian in our midst). Our party was full of "picky" eaters and the owners were great in helping everyone figure out what they might like to eat. My nephew is now a converted Indian food-lover! You can taste the quality and care they put into their food and it is well-worth every penny.
Taj quickly became a favourite of ours. The food is always fantastic and the owners are wonderful people who always have great suggestions to enhance the experience. We can't say enough about this place!
We were in Ottawa for business and decided to try some local Indian cuisine. We found Taj Indian Cuisine on open table and decided to try it. It's a small, clean and cozy environment. The owner greeted us immediately and ushered us to our table. He recommended some great dishes and made suggestions based on what we liked and our preferences. The food was amazing and truly authentic we will definately be back to this restaurant!
The food was very good and the staff were exceptional.
I have tried a lot of Indian Restaurants in Ottawa, and this is still the best one. I come here every couple of months, since I live on the other side of town, but I bring all my friends here and company when they come to visit. Love it... love the food... and love the service. Great people who make you feel welcome and will help you out with your menu choices.
The test of food is so fresh. If you like Indian food great for you. If you don't, try it because you may change your mind.
Great meal served by the owners themselves. A small neighbourhood restaurant feel, with authentic indian cuisine served warm and fresh right out of the tandoor. Excellent aloo gobi, sag paneer, shrimp masala. Hot, moist buttered naan with just the right combination of soft texture and crispy crust. Light, perfectly cooked basmati rice - soft, light and just a hint of fragrance. The butter chicken was the only average dish - too bland and creamy, lacking the usual complexity of flavour that Indian cuisine usually delivers in spades. The owner greeted regulars warmly, and expressed a genuine affection and interest in their visit. Will definitely return to Taj Indian Cuisine!
I was visiting from out of town and just happened to find this place by chance on opentable and it was close by. My gf recommended to try it out . Their vegetarian dishes are good. I had palou (it's a rice based dish and can be with various combo like chicken and shrimp) that was spicy and delicious but there mango lassi that was okay could have be sweeter and thicker in viscosity. but overall good place for a early dinner or brunch
Very good food, though not cheap by any means. The Tandorori sampler was a good choice, as it came with rice and a small salad.
Food is very tasty. Quantity is also sufficient. Give complete satisfaction. Fast service.
