About Taikun at The Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman

Taikun fuses the finest grade of sushi with authentic ingredients, sophisticated presentation and legendary Ritz-Carlton service. From traditional makis to the freshest sashimi to savory tempura rolls, Taikun delivers an experience worthy of its name, an ancient Japanese term of respect from which the English ‘tycoon’ was derived. One of the hallmarks of the Taikun experience is real wasabi grated tableside. The Taikun staff grates the rhizome against sharkskin in the traditional Asian fashion, ensuring the delicate wasabi root touches only organic materials.
•Grand Cayman's finest gourmet sushi lounge and largest sake selection
•Traditional makis, mouthwatering sashimi and the signature Tempura Roll
•Omakase menu
•Communal Table dining
•Japanese green teas and distinctive martinis

We’ve been coming here for a over decade and it never disappoints. We live in NYC where we eat at great sushi all the time, so it’s hard to impress us, but it is consistently great and we always go there multiple times during any of our trips.
A must try if in Cayman.

Located in the ritz, this sushi is pretty good for Caribbean standards. The miso soup to start should be avoided at all costs. but the rest of the meal is yummy. The Salmon Foie Gras is so good and melts in your mouth. The ceviche is different than the usual Peruvian and worth getting. We liked the Volcano roll and the Spicy Tuna. The Jalapeño Cilantro Snapper roll wasn't up to snuff. Great place for a fun sushi meal...

We frequent many restaurants through Open Table and this was by far the best customer service experience food combination we have ever experienced! Special mention to Saransh & Marious for making our visit so special!

The best sushi on the island and one of the best couple that we have eaten anywhere. No one should come to Grand Cayman and not go here. Amazing!!

The staff are very very friendly, but on a very busy night they struggled to provide drinks in good time and the wait for a table (even when reserved) was long.

In our experience, the service is consistently bad. Despite their politeness, the staff's knowledge of the menu is poor, mistakes are often made with the orders, and attracting the staff's attention (especially for the check) involves far too much effort. This overshadows the good food and decent atmosphere. We go back from time to time in the hope that the staff have upped their game but generally leave feeling let down.

The sushi at Taikun is outstanding! The chefs are so creative and are true artists. They really strive to please your pallet. We love it and eat there multiple times when in GC.

My family of four had dinner at Taikun while staying at the ritz Carlton. Service was very good but the food was lackluster at best. We each ordered the Omekase, looking forward to seeing what the chef would offer, considering the close proximity to the ocean. The miso soup was probably the best part. There was a tuna and watermelon dish that was covered with a Sriracha type sauce overwhelming the natural flavors. The sushi/sashimi was mediocre and the main course was a randomly selected sushi roll which was also covered with ?mayonnaise-based sauce.
Overall, extremely mediocre food at approximately $600 for four people.
The one positive is that it is family-friendly

It was my fiancé and I's second visit here (Loved the food!), but our first time to order coffee after dinner, and it was terrible! Didn't even taste like coffee. I'm sorry to say it, but it is true, and I have high expectations because it is (at) The Ritz Carlton. It tasted like water with a HINT of coffee flavoring.

Oh. My. Word. I've never had such an amazing sushi experience. Never. Even in two years living in Japan and having tried it around the globe, nothing compares to this. On one hand, I feel like every other place I visit will have the cards stacked against them; on the other, I feel enriched and enlightened for being fortunate enough to experience Taikun.

If you love sushi...actually, even if you just like it, DO NOT miss the opportunity to dine at Taikun. You will never regret it, even if it ruins every other piece of sushi you might eat.

Very disappointed for a restaurant in the Ritz Carlton. I will say we did not try the sushi because we had it earlier at an event. I was t feeling well and wanted soup. The ramen noodle had a terrible tasting broth and later when I ordered white rice it was luke warm. Not exactly comforting.

We were disappointed with every hot dish we ordered except the dumplings.

We were staying at the Ritz Carlton for our anniversary and one of our special meals is Sushi. Taikun did not fail to impress on all fronts. Their saki selection is HUGH. The meals were great. Very attentive waitress and ready to help with sugestions. Prices were accetable considering location as nothing in the Caymens is "inexpensive" very intimate. A wonderful experience. Will keep this one in the "go again next time" file.
