About Taikun at The Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman
Taikun fuses the finest grade of sushi with authentic ingredients, sophisticated presentation and legendary Ritz-Carlton service. From traditional makis to the freshest sashimi to savory tempura rolls, Taikun delivers an experience worthy of its name, an ancient Japanese term of respect from which the English ‘tycoon’ was derived. One of the hallmarks of the Taikun experience is real wasabi grated tableside. The Taikun staff grates the rhizome against sharkskin in the traditional Asian fashion, ensuring the delicate wasabi root touches only organic materials.

Taikun at The Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman Ratings and Reviews
I've lived in Cayman for over 5 years, and this was one of the best restaurant experiences I've had here!
Fantastic service, great food, cool atmosphere, and a reasonable price. I've already recommended to several friends, and I will definitely be back soon!
We’ve been coming here for a over decade and it never disappoints. We live in NYC where we eat at great sushi all the time, so it’s hard to impress us, but it is consistently great and we always go there multiple times during any of our trips.
A must try if in Cayman.
Located in the ritz, this sushi is pretty good for Caribbean standards. The miso soup to start should be avoided at all costs. but the rest of the meal is yummy. The Salmon Foie Gras is so good and melts in your mouth. The ceviche is different than the usual Peruvian and worth getting. We liked the Volcano roll and the Spicy Tuna. The Jalapeño Cilantro Snapper roll wasn't up to snuff. Great place for a fun sushi meal...
In our experience, the service is consistently bad. Despite their politeness, the staff's knowledge of the menu is poor, mistakes are often made with the orders, and attracting the staff's attention (especially for the check) involves far too much effort. This overshadows the good food and decent atmosphere. We go back from time to time in the hope that the staff have upped their game but generally leave feeling let down.
My family of four had dinner at Taikun while staying at the ritz Carlton. Service was very good but the food was lackluster at best. We each ordered the Omekase, looking forward to seeing what the chef would offer, considering the close proximity to the ocean. The miso soup was probably the best part. There was a tuna and watermelon dish that was covered with a Sriracha type sauce overwhelming the natural flavors. The sushi/sashimi was mediocre and the main course was a randomly selected sushi roll which was also covered with ?mayonnaise-based sauce.
Overall, extremely mediocre food at approximately $600 for four people.
The one positive is that it is family-friendly
It was my fiancé and I's second visit here (Loved the food!), but our first time to order coffee after dinner, and it was terrible! Didn't even taste like coffee. I'm sorry to say it, but it is true, and I have high expectations because it is (at) The Ritz Carlton. It tasted like water with a HINT of coffee flavoring.
