Aside from the beautiful and comfortably decorated interior, Tagine's kitchen is dynamic, baking its own semolina bread daily, and encasing its own lamb merguez. A variety of 'Tagines' are featured at the restaurant. There are several different cous cous selections on the menu, and mouthwatering house specialties include "bastilla", a Moroccan pheasant pie, and "moquadimat," a selection of appetizers, ordered a la carte or as a mixed platter. Included in the wine list, is a diverse selection of Moroccan varieties, which delightfully accompany the menu. Don't walk away from your table without sampling "Halahwyat" the most delightful, hand rolled traditional confections and pastries, graciously served with mint tea or Moroccan spiced coffee.

Food was excellent and service good, but they played the music so loud that conversation was uncomfortably difficult. Far too loud for a restaurant.

Over priced!!! Don't waste your money. We kept asking the waitress what was good and she steered us to everything that was over priced. I was hopeful that ok its pricey but it will be amazing. The food was bland. Turned us off to Morrocan all together.

Food was incredible. Meal portions were large and every appetizer, entree we ordered was well plated and delicious. Deserts were like littler slices of heaven.

I went to Tagine for lunch and had a great meal. The salad, carrots, homemade bread and lentil soup were all delicious. The service was fantastic and the prices were most reasonable. I can't wait to go back for dinner and try more of the menu items.

We were there on a quiet Sunday evening. The food was excellent and the restaurant was cozy and quiet. My husband had the tangine which he loved and I had soup and lamb borak which was an appetizer but plenty for me. Both were excellent! The prices were on the high end (especially dessert) but in the range for NYC. I highly recommend.

The restaurant is super cute and the staff friendly and helpful. I found the prices a little high though. We started with shekshouka....eggplant and red pepper. Even my vegetable averse friend loved it! The vegetable Tagine was really tasty. My friends lamb was tasty too, but a tad on the dry side. We didn’t have dessert because the meals were really filling. I’d like to come back and try more dishes because everything sounds delicious.

Yummy food, attentive and wonderful service with great recommendations. We had three kids that weren't sure about Moroccan spices and food that ended up loving everything put in front of them. Fresh hummus was amazing! Oh and the adults loved the homemade Sangria!

Disappointing visit. We had a nice welcome but it was the best part of the experience. The food was just OK, the lamb tajine had hardly any savor and the lemons were inexistent. We were the only customers and the service was inexistent, the server too interested by his phone to catch our requests.

Food was exceptional! Waiter made several great recommendations. Service was very friendly but very slow. Definitely one of the better Moroccan restaurants we've been to.

The place is very run down. The bathrooms are gross. The food was very good, but to a place to bring anyone you’d like to impress.

3rd Visit and very disappointing. Rowdy bar crowd throwing vulgar language, loud hip hop and Mexican rap music (thought this was supposed to be Moroccan?) constantly being changed, turned up, turned down etc. Food over spiced as compared to the past lovely dishes. Glacial service, but very pleasant when there. Unlikely to return.

I recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking AUTHENTIC moroccan cuisine. From the delicious tagines served in traditional clay dishes, to the multiple mezze options, and even bastilla and tangia, this place has everything you could dream of. And with the warm and friendly service, they are willing to accommodate any special request. This place is seriously an OASIS in midtown. There’s no other place in the neighborhood that can transport you to another state of mind the way this one can. There’s a huge community of regulars that cycle through (on the later side) for dancing and music, which makes this place always lively and buzzing with energy. Clearly a family operation, it’s incredibly special and rare to see such a soulful place in midtown. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but my favorites are the Traditional Lamb Tagine (served with blanched almonds and stewed prunes) and/or Chicken Meisel, a special lemon and garlic sauce tagine, named after one of their favorite regulars. Service can be Moroccan-style as well, slightly slow but they will bend over backwards to accommodate your needs. I recommend planning to spend at least two hours at this place, it’s not really the kind of spot where you can pop in for a quick bite. The ambiance sucks you into some kind of time warp, I swear. I always end up staying for hours and meeting new people every time. That kind of energy is what makes this place unique. The hookah lounge in the back of the restaurant is quite popular, and another cool draw to the place beyond just the food and atmosphere. Tagine is an excellent spot for birthday dinners, they will help accommodate your groups needs down to every dietary need. I did my birthday there and they made me feel super special, with Sangria pitchers on the house and amazing honey-based desserts. This place is seriously one of the best restaurants in the city, and by far the best Moroccan restaurant in New York City. Highly recommend trying out the entire menu.

We were impressed with the "ambiance" of the place the minute we walked into the restaurant. Very charming and quite different from the run-of-the-mill restaurant. It rang with a Moroccan flavor. The food was very good. I can't say it was the best Moroccan food I've had (a restaurant, no longer existing, in Washington, D.C. holds that place) but it was flavorful and memorable. The appetizers we shared were delicious. My chicken cous cous was tasty and more than an ample portion. Everyone of us four was very satisfied with our dinners. My one suggestion for improvement would be an improved level of table service.

We were catching a bus at Port Authority and thought this would be a good place to eat before traveling. Service was very pleasant but oh so slow, especially considering most tables were empty. We shared a chicken tagine which was ok but on the salty side. At $27, I expected a more generous serving of chicken (about 4 tiny pieces of white/dark meat) and sides. We had to pay for a small side of rice ($8!). I was craving a small espresso cup of Turkish style coffee so ordered something our friendly server recommended as being similar but didn't warn me that instead of a single serving, it would be a full pot costing $10! It wasn't good at all - just strong coffee with spices - not made the traditional way in copper pots with coffee grinds and sugar cooked together. The darkened room with red walls and a hookah lounging area in the rear gave it a seedy ambience. Might be what some people like but I wish I'd known. The cheap-looking red entrance was already a warning. Most disappointing of all, food was mediocre and way overpriced. But our server/bartender? was extremely nice. Will never go back.

I had a wonderful experience at this place. The owner was very kind and welcoming, and even took photos of us (below). The place is even more beautiful in person.

I ordered a lamb tagine and it was tender and flavorful like nothing I’ve ever had before. My boyfriend who’s vegetarian had no trouble finding something to eat.

Definitely a new place for us to eat. The service was so spot on and the food was delicious. The music will get louder as the night moves on but we still spent three hours there talking, eating and drinking. Loved it!

While we found the food to be very good, our full experience was not. First we were seated in the back room which had limited to no air conditioning. While our server was very pleasant, service was very slow and she rarely came around. Finally, for a Moroccan restaurant to blast hip-hop rap (with vulgar language to boot), it made for a bad experience.

We are so sorry you had a bad experience here at Tagine! Normally there's traditional Moroccan or Arabic music playing, Im not sure what the staff was thinking. Again, so sorry for your negative experience! We hope you'll return so we can rectify this experience.

We went early on a Saturday before going to see a show. The place was empty, but the staff were extremely welcoming. The ambiance and decor were fantastic! The food was delicious. We, also, loved the presentation of the piping hot tagine. Great place.

The waiter was very friendly and the dishes I ordered were prepared well. My salad was fresh but instead of micro greens they used Romaine lettuce and I was disappointed. Lentil soup was not salty and I enjoyed it. My guest ordered vegan couscous which was not delicious. It only had a few slices of carrots, one piece of potato, about two tablespoons of chickpeas and currents. It’s called Casablanca. The ingredients are cheap and probably less than $1 in net cost but the charge was $26. It’s outrageous! I will not recommend this restaurant unless you are willing to pay a lot.

I come here very often and I am always treated warmly. The delicious food menu is the closest you will get to a real Moroccan experience in the city! The best I have tasted so far. Moroccan wine is part of their wine list which had me over the moon. Some nights you'll get to dance your heart out.

As soon as you open the door to Tagine, you are transported to a magical Moroccan oasis, complete with sights, sounds, smells and tastes of Morocco.

We were welcomed like royalty by the chef/owner Hamid and proceeded to have the most delightful meal. The signature Tagine is the best we've ever eaten, the Couscous Royale is perfection, the Bastilla perfectly prepared.

Oh, and the desserts! Home made, still warm selection of Moroccan pastries, served with fresh mint tea to finish off a fabulous dining experience.

Though it was a busy evening, the service was impeccable. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will come back again and again to our new favorite restaurant in NYC.

Thank you Tagine for a dining experience we'll remember for a long time to come!
