TAG Ratings and Reviews
Can't go wrong here. Delightful choices. Attentive service. Fun cocktails.
The "theme" of TAG a bit confusing - sort of Asian sort of tapas sort of hipster Denver scene - but I don't come for scene, I come for the food and TAG did not disappoint.
Highlights - Taco Sushi, Crudo, peresphone roll.
Enjoy and have fun. The kids taking care of you and behind the grill / sushi table will help ensure a good time for alll.
Had a reservation at 7.45 and went there at 7.40. Not seated until 8.10. We are a family with 2 kids and there was no waiting area in the restaurant. The bar area was next to the hostess but it was already taken up by a group.
Sushi taco, seafood dumpling, steak dinner special and Halibut with black olive were fantastic. Sushi rolls were just OK-- not that inventive. Scallop was salty. My daughter who is a seafood lover barely touched it. Our server came by to check on us long after food was served. By then, everyone else was done aside from my daughter with the scallops, but she was not offered an alternative.
Sticky toffee cake was great.
So overall, some hits and some misses.
TAG is one of the best restaurants in Denver. The food is delicious and presented with sides that enhance the entree. I look forward to the plating as the colors and textures delight the palate and eyes.
Service is outstanding and you don't feel rushed. Attentive and calm, this is the place to relax, sip a cocktail and enjoy the ambience.
This was our first visit to TAG and it didn't disappoint. Food was outstanding, and perhaps because it was a special occasion, several waiters and the hostess all checked on us periodically, without hovering (I hate hovering wait staff.) A little loud, but it appeared everyone there was having a great time. Right in the middle of Larimer Square.
If you do not have the vintage of wine that I ordered, please inform me and allow me to order a different wine. Please do not bring the wrong vintage of wine without informing me that it is different from what I ordered and wait to see whether I notice the difference...and then tell me it doesn't matter when I point out the difference. I expect more at this price point.
Took my wife here for our anniversary. Her fave drink is a sangria and TJ made a great. We went upstairs when our table was ready and ordered another. It wasn't the same. So, I went back downstairs to get one made by TJ and the wife was not disappointed. Thanks, TJ!!
We were at TAG on Saturday night and had never been there before. The food was amazing! The grilled octopus was tender and seasoned wonderfully. The bison flat iron steak was also very good. Our friends had a chicken paillettes dish that was very good and there was so much of it, he took it home for lunch the next day! They also had the ahi tacos and the hamadah sushi roll - also very good.
Would definitely go back!
First I have to say, John James our server was really good and personable.
I have loved TAG in the past and was excited to dine there prior to theater.
The food was tasty and "good." However, I was SO disappointed when I was told the Hamachi dish was a signature dish and was "quite delicious," so I ordered it.
When a server arrived with a nice Hamachi dish, they then proceeded to tear open what looked like a Koolaid package at the table which I requested to put on the side of the dish, but he proceeded to pour this disgusting pop rock candy all over the fish. I guess an attempt at wowing the audience with pop and sizzle :(
It was an awful strawberry (sort of) super sugary flavor. So BAD.
What a crime to adulterate such a subtle fish . I did tell the waiter that I had told the server to put it on the side but they hadn't and he said oh well he must not have heard you...
I hate to send food back or to waste an animal whose life was sacrificed for my palete, so I scraped off the strawberry goo and ate the fish.
I love Troy Gaurd's restaurants but this left me feeling like I won't be coming back again as there are so many other restaurants waiting to be discovered.
