TAG / Burger and Bar at Madison Street Ratings and Reviews
First of all, the burgers are amazing. Compact, but full of flavor. Also in love with their fried pickles, they fry the whole spear instead of doing it chip style. Plenty of good beers on tap. Their shakes are very yummy, although I’d recommend getting the larger size because the small wasn’t enough lol! Only thing is it can get pretty loud inside the restaurant so be prepared to speak up.
This is our 3rd visit to Tag. Food was not great. Got one persons burger cooked wrong (ordered medium rare was served well done). Waitress took a beer off his tab for the error. Place was not that busy - so expected the food to be as good as previous visits- just not great. Pretty flat.
This restaurant is HIGHLY mediocre. Cooking a burger is incredibly easy. TAG’s burger was mediocre at best. It wasn’t bad, but I’ll probably never go here again, because why pay for an overpriced burger AND tip when I could just go to Park Burger, or LarkBurger, or Smash Burger, or any restaurant in the city that has a burger on the menu.
Disappointing experience. We had been here a few years back and it had decent but expensive burgers. Tried non -burger options and all were misses. The duck fat fries were coated in sugar. I had a $16 prime rib and caramelized onion sandwich. More onions than beef. Friend had the mac and cheese that was grainy cheese and slightly crunch pasta. Service was no better than the food. When we commented that the fries had lots of sugar on them as the waiter was clearing away an uneaten 3/4 of the order. He commented yes "sugar and paprika is what makes them so special".
This was not the same Tag Burger and Bar I went to 2 years ago. The service was just okay. My friend ordered a beer and had to remind the waiter about it after he didn't deliver it for 15 minutes. The burger was good but the duck fat fries were not as good as 2 years ago. They were a little greasy and too sweet.
The second time was not as good as the first. We loved the food the first time, but for some reason this time didn't hit their own benchmark. So they are 1 and 1. See how the rubber game goes the next time. Seemed louder and food was average warmth. We had to send a burger back because it wasn't well done as we asked. They took the old burger and put it back on the grill, which I think is gross, and dumb. But we were hungry so whatever. So maybe we won't give it a rubber game.
Every time we go to TAG Burger Bar I say I'm going to try something other than the Truffle Shuffle ... but I rarely do. It's THAT good! The salmon burger is a close second, though. TAG Burger Bar is where we head whenever we're in the mood for a good hamburger!
This was my third visit, but my parents' first (visiting from out of town). The noise level was a little high, but I attribute that to a large table of prom-goers (not obnoxious, just having a good time). The service was excellent - our server made several food & beverage recommendations. The 303 Cheesesteak burger is quite possibly the best burger of all time! Enjoy!!!
I came here for the first time with a friend for brunch. we decided on this place because of the reasonably priced food and bottomless mimosas. We both wanted to try their seasonal mimosa but we're kind of iffy since we weren't sure if we'd like it. Our waiter, Tim, told us he'd bring us a tester so we'd know what we were getting into. It was delicious! So smooth and tasty! Next came our food, I had the salmon benedict which was so full of flavors that melded so well wit each other, it came with a side of 'tag' potatoes which are really just hashbrowns but are equally delicious. Now we had spent some time there and decided to add a biscuits and gravy to share. And that is the only thing I'd change. In comparison to everything else I'd had from there it was seriously lacking in the flavor department. It was just ok. Our waiter was so good and very attentive, until it came close to the middle end of our visit. He was always right there with refills for both of us and very polite. He must've gotten busy because we kept seeing him less and less. Now I would go and see him again despite this. Overall I would definitely go back, and plan to!
Another fantastic meal - last year, in honor of my daughter's 16th birthday, we spent a few weeks visiting Denver's top rated burger places, and this was her favorite. She chose to celebrate her 17th here as well. The burgers and craft cocktails are outstanding, the service is knowledgeable and attentive, and the Brussels sprouts app is among the best I've ever had. The deep-fried Oreos? Looked great, but the adults at the table never got near it - maybe two orders next time!
We will definitely be back.
Second less than great experience in a row. Second time food hasn't all come out at same time and there seems to be confusion between server and kitchen. Second time parts of order are just wrong. Friendly service but frustrating to have to keep asking for what should already be on the table- especially since this is a higher end restaurant group.
Went to celebrate for my birthday and was disappointed. TAG has always been one of our favorite spots but was underwhelming on this occasion and is questioning whether or not we should return.
The beer list stated "rotator" all over and when we asked our waitress she was unable to tell us what was on tap.
The food was mediocre and what came out was not what was stated on the menu - changed a few things that had not been updated on the menu.
My burger had homemade potatoe chips while my girlfriends were straight out of a Ruffles bag-very odd.
Disappointed at the least since we have loved this place for so long
All of the burgers here are great; my perennial fave is the Truffle Shuffle, but the Burger of the Month tempts me from time to time. This month (March, 2017) it's the Steak House Burger and it is amazing! Big, juicy, comes with onion rings AND fries. Delicious, and a portion of the proceeds go to charity.
Using a OpenTable I mistakenly made a reservation for two instead of three. The hostess was a little dismissive but the young man that was working there it was nice enough to move the hightop around so there was a space for the three of us. This is my now 17-year-old sons favorite restaurant and he wants to go back for his birthday tonight. I made the reservation for the correct amount of seats this time but appreciate your kindness Last week.
